I think you are forgetting about New Zealand and Sri Lanka. Both these teams were the favourites to qualify for the Super 8, but their journey ended early like Pakistan.

If the match between USA and Ireland had happened, then in all probability they could have entered the Super8 stage. And it has been a frustrating experience for the cricket fans as well. Yesterday, the match between England and Namibia was supposed to start by 10:30pm IST. It finally started by 1:30pm IST and that too for a truncated match.
