Hi Guys,

Im pretty keen to understand more about ICOs and intend to invest in some.
ANY recommended ICOs and any advise how you guys determine whether is it a legit or Scam?

Thanks in advance.
Its hard to say this but almost 90% of ICOs are scam based on my observation. But still there are 10% of ICOs who are legit and want their project for long term development. As for me, you can see a legit project, if you see them on a blockchain conferences or any public events. In that way, they are very active spread the purpose of their project.

It depends on what ICO you are looking to. because there's still alot of good ICOs out there that i wish had more attention to rather than having more attention on scam ICOs and beginners can't tell what's a scam and not a scam ICO. but some are pretty obvious.

If you diligent research you will be surprised that so many of these ICO is a scam site, I don't know the right figure, but it could go up to 80% because of to many ICO coming in and so many new threads on the scam sections, this is one of the most active section here in Bitcointalk.

2017 is the best year for ICO, most ICOs reach hardcap in less than a month, and some ICOs that make me successful and make big money increases are: Chronobank, Omisego, Edgeless, Wetrust, Populous, Bitquence and so on.

Depending on the country, but most of the ICO is not strictly controlled, so the amount of fraud ICO is increasingly rampant in the market, I find that now ICO fraud may account for 80% of the market This. So I no longer believe in ICO to invest

Scams are everywhere, it is very risky to invest on any ICOs if you don't dig on its content but if you found a legit one then it surely a better profit for you if they reach its goals.

Usually scam icos will have some common features, fake teams, no experience, white papers are full of holes, web pages are rough, and the way to sell tokens is not fixed.
And in more cases, you should try to choose those well-known ICO projects.

There is no oracle or tools that can reveal the outcome of any ICO to you. The outcome of an ICO is what determined whether the ICO is successful or it's a failed ICO.  However,  you must educate yourself on how cryptocurrency work so you could use your knowledge to come to logical conclusions about your decision to invest or not!

It's difficult to know about that because investment is always risky , but you should choose  projects that have a strong team , they will have more experience to make their project grow

In the ICO bounty projects being launched in the  cryptoworld , we can not deny that there are ICOs which are being promoted that are really a scam projects in the end ,  but there are also ICOs which are lauched that trully follow what are their platform of their projects and are being help to success by the members of the bitcoin forum, so not all ICOs are scams ,there are also true ICO projects.

Study the ICOs yourself,

select the ICOs with product/prototype,
then study their whitepaper.

You can definitely get a better result from your investment.

At the moment you need to very well disassemble the project, before investing in it, I believe that there are good projects, and there are a lot of them.

No, there are some legit ones, many scams and most(huge majority) will not meet market demands(will fail for investors).
Only very few will bring profit for the investor.

There are a lot of legit ICOs and some of the projects that are on the market are also scam. The only thing you can do is to invest your time and to make a deep research. To check the whitepaper, the team members and the product development status.

As on any crypto-investment page:
Check if members are real and known (g.e. for former scams), check if memberspictures are real(Google compare pictures)
Check if website is hosted anonymous(An absolute WARNING SIGN).
Check if ICO-token is only a utility token that might only be used for the services of one company(not good).
Check if the token will be converted or is already a cryptocurrency with an own blockchain(good).
Check the company. where is it registered if at all...
Is it regulated?(Most are not)
Does the developped software bring real innovations and will they have a real need and market in future?
Is there anything already devellopped or is it only an idea(not good)?
Do the Whitepaper explains details, or only dusty general info?
Is there a bounty campaign connected to the ICO(not good)?
Does it make sense for the investor to spend his money in that project or could the project also do investment funding via classic startup funding?
(Just remember, you have NO rights as investor in ICO, but you have as shareholder...)
Dont believe in ICOratings. Almost all are bought.
The "experts" are in most cases connected to commercial ICO-PR Teams. Paid by the ICO...

So if you check this, you will find that at least 80% of ICOs are bullshit and only good for the Company, not for the investors.
And in reality almost all ICOs failed, just a small percentage succeded for the investor in the past.

I you are not a real expert by yourself, avoid ICOs, as you will loose. History has proved that.

Use google. Try to find out about team members. Whether they were involved in any unsuccessful project. Carefully check all project documents. And save them.
oh, this is pretty cool, i have never known this test, but i will use it to analyze and understand the project development team, maybe this will be great, to know the How does this exist and are they really members of the project?

Many ICOs are not legal. They are almost all private financing without government background. High risk and many are scams. I don't think the current icos are effective. Many of them will not succeed.
The legality depends on the law of the land of a certain country, it could be legal or illegal and some does not have a regulation on ICO yet so it's
allowable. Scams are everywhere and stopping ICO is not the solution to that, but every investor should be knowledgeable in order for them to be a responsible investor.
