ICOs could either be legit or scam. Most have turned out to be scam which have put fear in the hearts of people to invest, most have also turned out fruitful. If you do your research before investing, you will find genuine ones that will give you good profit.

I prefer to choose an ICO where everyone also following the project, but be sure these peoples are real because most of the projects use an automated bot to follow the project.

I don't participate in ICO investing but I still think that ICO is a really reliable way of collecting money and it is possible to find a project that will bring you profit. So invest through ICO but watch closely where money are going.

I do not advise you now to climb into this area, as investing in ICO for more than a year has ceased to be profitable and more experienced people lose money on it.

To be able to answer that question many aspects of the  project should be analyzed. (WP, team, roadmap, social aspect etc)
There is no 100% guarantee even if you make all the analyses as some projects turns out that they are scam only in later stages of their development.

What I noticed is that most of the ico nowadays initially intention is to try something out if it can get them money or not, and also plan of making it to work if they only made more than enough during the ico if not they will run away with the already invested money, or most time even try the second plan by listing on exchange to sell the rest.
there are many developers like that, they give up on what they build, not many developers maintain their projects when their ICO does not reach the target, but it needs to be realized that it is not all bad and investors must provide opportunities for those who really want to make big projects and eradicate those who only want to get investor money and then leave

Actually, no one can really tell if one ICO is legit or scam unless it is done or already finished. But there are pointers that can identify who are probably a legit or a scam ICO.

There are plenty of threads already created on this forum. You may do your own research about this and then decide whether you feel that it is or not. Don't just rely on other's opinion.

In some countries it is prohibited. But I think that there is nothing forbidden because ICO is the initial stage of the project development.

Hi Guys,

Im pretty keen to understand more about ICOs and intend to invest in some.
ANY recommended ICOs and any advise how you guys determine whether is it a legit or Scam?

Thanks in advance.
it is liek with peopel there are good ones an dthere are bad ones and the same thing with icos there are profitable ones and there are scammers
in this case I might think of the role of investors in analyzing because we cannot forget ourselves who were not careful before joining the ICO. if you only rely on luck, your funds can easily be lost. ICO scams are annoying but it's very difficult to get rid of the mess they make

Pretty interesting question but one I would not exactly ask if I were in your shoes. It is similar to asking if financial institutions are scam, the answer could be Yes, No or inconclusive. Some institutions exist to rip you off and some are truly concerned about the welfare of their customers but the realistic answer is that they all tend to withhold some truth about how they operate. There are definitely legit ICOs and others which simply intend to scam people. It becomes your responsibility as an investor to truly do your research about an ICO which you intend to invest in. You can check out the whitepaper, the team and even the social media presence.

Unfortunately, as we see now these projects are an offer because most of them appear fraudulent and investors lose their money.

There are very different projects on the market. On my mind it is necessary to be very cautious about where to invest. Much more important to be experiences and smart person who makes right choices.

I think if they were not legal, they would not be allowed to spend on the territory of America and Switzerland. It's perfectly legal at the moment.

You can't generalize that ICOs are scams, what we should be looking at is are the projects using ICO as a means to raise funds legit or are they scams. Is the projects itself we should consider not ICO in general.

Everything is bad and good. Just like there are some good ICOs and there are some bad ICOs. Before investing, you need to know about them well. For that you can get information on various websites.

It depends on your investigation depth. If you are just investing in every project, without any research, than you will lose your money and you would be sure that everything is a scam. But if you are getting it serious, you will find legit and profitable projects.

There are many opportunities to determine a good crypto project or not, but this will never give a 100 percent guarantee. Much depends not on you, and in any moment you can lose everything.

ICO's are legit man, ICO's gets scam because it gets failed to collect the fund that they needed or reach the softcap of the project. But there are also scam projects, for example.. i will invest in that ICO and then after they collected a small amount of fund they will run, they will get all the money and never return it to the owner. I am so sad when it happens because many investors will not believe that ICO is legit.
