Smart is not enough, there must be skills
many people invest their own and bitcoins in other altcoins with only one goal to get the maximum profit and make more bitcoins from the transaction. But now, in my opinion, is not the best time to buy various assets. I am focused on bitcoin and now I am trying to save as much as possible and do not spend money on buying other tokens as they do not look stable and I see more risks than rewards.
There are some of them in one bitcoin asset, some of them have several assets from other coins to seek higher profits from bitcoin, all of which are still unpredictable, especially in new projects, they are still very high-risk but will be more on several other top altcoins.

Sharing some percentage of the investment is also good with 50% bitcoin the rest can be done on more established altcoins in terms of high potential like ETH, BNB, ADA etc. I myself am Not so much on altcoins just focusing on bitcoin which is coming soon I will be waiting for the halving for a while, looking forward to the next ATH with a bullish season.

I usually Invest a very small amount of bitcoin to another coin because I know this time is very crucial to invest in any new coin or even in an old coin.
Any suggestion from your side which is good for long term

You can invest in a coin rather than a token. If you have bitcoins, my suggestion is to invest in Ethereum as well. Also, you can try out the new layer one and layer two ecosystem projects.

Long time: BTC, ETH
Medium time: ARB,OP, DOT, Solona
Short time : Link or meme tokens

Choose to stay at one point in BTC rather than run to a new place where the direction and function of the advantages and disadvantages are not clear, it is clear that BTC is the number one coin, why should you hesitate, just use two strategies, half for long term investment, half for long term trading short. daily, weekly and monthly depending on market situation, stay on btc that's all i would do if it happened to me

Bitcoin will get profit if pumped only 50% until 100% but if you invest on altcoin will get profit until 1000%, that's why many people joining on altcoin if want instantly rich. But try with SOL, AVAX, and OP these are layer zero which is so far Not too volatile if compared with other altcoin what i know. Always DYOR every choice that you want
Investing with altcoins does not mean we will get rich instantly,
because still we need to buy and sell at the right time,
many altcoins are worth investing in and it is important to do your own research.

are you asking about diversifying that 1 bitcoin ?

then lets see what is safe and what is better depending to how long will you be handling the investments.

there is a List I have , and it is yours to follow or not .

             1. 50% bitcoin

             2. 20% Ethereum

             3. 10% binance coin

             4. 10% Tron

and the last 10% is diversified in some shitcoins and meme coins in which I admit to be risky and may lose all.
I think this isn't that bad, I wouldn't put that much on Tron though. Mine is VERY VERY close to yours and not really that complicated neither. I put 50% on bitcoin as well, exactly the same, 20% on ETH so exactly the same, and 10% on BNB so it is exactly the same on all of those.
well that 10% isn't that much for me mate , because I have earned something good in the past and that 10% is just half of what i got from this coin.
Quote
But instead of Tron, I split the rest into 3-4 different coins, that means they are much smaller and they won't make much change but they can't hurt it neither, BNB has dropped a lot and rest went a bit higher because of that, so it is more like 5-6% BNB instead of 10% and the other coins are a bit more like 15% instead, but that is a temporary situational thing. In the end we should be seeing this do a lot better and I believe that this type of investment is a lot more strong for the future.
agreed that we are almost the same on those investment sand what we do for diversifying is a good option and not putting all my eggs in single basket.

If you are a long term investor then no need to taken others coin and still hold btc but just sold your profits, if you need to money. You can believe old coin which they have staking and others rewards programme. But don’t invest quickly in new project because there lot of risky now.
Sometimes people want to have another coin, they don't think it is enough to hold Bitcoin only. I think it is no problem to have another coin but it doesn't mean to sell the existing Bitcoin. He is better to buy an altcoin if he has an extra money, don' sell his Bitcoin. Anyway, what profits to sell? Do you mean sell some Bitcoin that is enough for claiming profits? I don't think it is a good idea, the number of his Bitcoin will be decreasing constantly in this way. I assume he is better to hold all the Bitcoin until the next bullrun season.

Sure, investing in a new project is very risky. It is not recommended to invest in a new project, better to choose old top projects only.

Yes, he knows it already, that is why he already have a 1 BTC but maybe he got bored lately and he also saw the headlines about those old and new altcoins who were pumping unexpectedly. That makes him more encouraged of trying them. I think investing in a tiny amount wouldn't hurt even when our altcoin investment fails. We still have more Bitcoins left and there is always a chance for us to recover what we lost in the past.

If we are sure that the coin that we hold won't recover anymore, then there is no point of holding it anymore. This is often the case that happens in the new coins or hype coins. For those who don't have a patient to HODL longer, Bitcoin will still be a bad choice for them because the real potential of BTC doesn't come out easily.

Lemme clarify something we don't always understand about altcoins; Altcoins are being created to distract you from focusing on bitcoin there were lots of altcoins created almost with same utilities and concepts but the difference there are just names and probably network configurations, at this point those projects that almost has same similarities between them are always competitive and most times they died unexpectedly after investors noticed the most useful project they dump one for another.

As an impatient holder or investor you might end up with one of them which may result in total dump on you. Must projects owners knows the facts and may not want to revealed their true intentions towards his or her project. Like you said, over hyped projects often always end up this way due to much attention gain would makes them dumped quickly after investors might have noticed some slack back and weak points or has came to realize the reality behind the project.

However, let us have this at the back of our mind that no investor planned to hold any hyped coin or shitcoin for longer all their intentions are being centered on profits aspect, so they invest for short period that is why as a crypto enthusiast the ability to outsmart others makes you a champion and a top leader.

Then as a human I would also want you to view another points from project owners, when they noticed their projects is gradually dropping and declining what they does is to come with another strategies either by paying some famous cryptocurrency influencers to come make some noise on their projects to enable them gain attention, those who never noticed the project would definitely come to invest and if they do those who invested then might be lucky to sell and make their profits then leaving empty tokens to newbie investors that is when you always hear their cry talking about their investment is gone.

Bitcoin is the most important thing you should look after than altcoin because you can't factor out how it would disappear in the crypto market. The last dip I had seen people crying out loud on their lost in some hype project that seeked their attention but the dip emptied their investment and they weren't able to recover or they sold out the little percentage that was left with them.
Naturally, anyone who doesn't have that patient to hold long should go into bitcoin investment than buying some altcoin sells within 3 month to 6 months while for bitcoin investment is expected for at least 1 year and above for good profits.

The way alts keep disappointing and dumping heavily i don't think it is a good idea to waste your btc on any of them until the market is fully on bull run mode. If i were you, i would rather hold my btc for now and watch the market, wait for anything that looks like altcoin season before buying any alts, btc will always reign supreme. Only buy alts when the market is green enough.

Bitcoin is the main stuff here and if it goes up everything else usually goes up if it goes down everything goes usually down. I would maybe keep 0.50 in bitcoin and other half just spread into other coin mostly in eth and litecoin. Also you can do some research and invest small amounts into coins that might explode but still hard to guess witch ones will jump. A lot of hype is still around xrp and the lawsuit and if it goes in favor of xrp it might skyrocket.

In investing, you should not put all your eggs in one basket; that is, you should not put your money in a single basket. This will spread the risk significantly; you need to build an effective portfolio to "survive" after the market shock. This is an important virtual currency investment experience that is often overlooked by many.

For example, if you have a portfolio of four coins (ETH, BTC, BNB, and ADA), Assuming BTC is depreciated because the Fed, the US Federal Reserve Bank, raises interest rates, even though your money will be affected, at least there are still three other coins for you to survive in the market. On the contrary, if you only focus on BTC, your money will be reduced after this volatility, and you will have to wait a long time to be able to pay it back.

If you're having 1btc, it's a huge enough big enough to diversify or on different coins investments, we can choose to invest half of it on bitcoin, then the remaining half equally distributed on other altcoins which we have researched and know about their project reputation base on the findings received on them after a careful consideration that it's not a deception to scam people who are eligible enough for their  investment

The right step is indeed to sell one of your Bitcoins and buy lots of altcoins, especially during the bearish season,
altcoin prices are already at a low price, so the risk you take is very minimal, because you are buying at a lower price,
and all you have to do is hold it until the market turn bullish again.

I'm not sure my personal opinion can be of any help to you, but for me at the moment accumulating BTC in a portfolio is the right thing to do, look at the volatility of the market over time. Through us we take security rather than risking profits. Maybe in the future when the market is more polarized, we are in a bullish phase or preparing for that cycle, switching our portfolio to altcoins will be more profitable, and of course there are many Multiple options to increase efficiency. I have seen recently developers talking about improving and developing web3 in the future, as well as some areas where it is showing its prominence such as AI, in the crypto environment the variety that we have. We see that sometimes it is also a risk, so please research everything carefully before making a decision.

Investing in different altcoins is a way to diversify your portfolio and reduce risk. Diversification does not guarantee effectiveness in all cases. Choosing the right coin and market to invest in is important. When investing in different types of altcoins, you should carefully learn about the projects, upside potential, possible risks and other factors of each type of altccoin that you are interested in. This will help you make smarter investment decisions. It should be noted that the cryptocurrency market is very volatile and unpredictable, so you need to think carefully before investing any amount and always keep a close eye on the market movements.
Though investing in different cryptocurrencies bring diversification to one's portfolio, I wouldn't recommend buying a lot of different altcoins especially if they are not very old and trusted. If someone is having to sell their Bitcoins to buy altcoins, they should go for the most trusted ones like ETH, LTC, and a few more that are ranked at the top in CryptoMarketCap along with Bitcoin and ETH.

I would personally never sell my Bitcoins only to buy other altcoins because I trust Bitcoin way more and I know that even if I don't have other cryptocurrencies in my portfolio apart from Bitcoin, I will still gain enough profits if the market goes up.

bitcoin is indeed best investment out there it's just better than the other but maybe looking from other perspective he might be seeking for that more additional profits
in his investment so that he could get money and returns faster.
even though we all here know that bitcoin is really good for investment, its linear growth from year to year has always shown that it's rather prospective investment
We're all seeking greater profits but with that thought, we don't know that we're going that far and we're already on the better lands. Greed will make someone find his own depth.

but altcoin usually have shorter time frame of reaching bullrun and then went down again so I guess thats what some people might be seeking honestly.
That's how volatile they are but some of them are going on with bitcoin whenever we see the bull run. Well, I just wish OP a good luck if he's seriously gonna exchange his 1 BTC for alts.
