Where is BNB on your list? If there will be no BTC or ETH, Then I will go definitely for BNB. Because It will make another ATH in upcoming bull run. Mark my word.
Not all altcoins will go up when the bitcoin price goes up. If you study the track record of the crypto market when it was in a bullish phase then only altcoins in the top 10 experienced price increases when bitcoin rose. In fact, many altcoin prices don't even go anywhere when bitcoin prices start to pump.

because honestly that amount of money is relatively small if compared with those whales and even venture capitals. investing in one coin is fine though if the coin itself is good enough.
i couldn't sweat the fact that diversifying sometimes also carry risk, what if the invested coin that was supposed to be for diversification flops and get rugpulled, that'd be a problem on its own.
i would recommend diversifying in coins that are known to be good like bitcoin and ethereum instead.

40,000$ is very big amount and i think this will be total amount one can afford to invest in crypto. This amount should be invested very wisely and taking risk from capital investment is always bad decision. The best strategy at this situation is to wait for some correction and then invest 10k$ in top 5 coins. these coins have high marketcap and chance of heavy dump is less than other. now just wait for bull to get profit. profit generated from these coins can be invested in new coins for high profit or loss.
If tokens start dropping then no need to be worry because we have still 30k$ which we will use for buying when token drops more than 60%.
The most important thing here is booking profit. no need to wait for 10x but when you see 50% or more you can sell half or some part to book profit. no one now the ATH of any coin and we have to make own strategy for booking profit.

I'm all in $40K to BTC, so far the best choice BTC only. Dominance of altcoin still can't compared with BTC and the best safe coin for invest than other coin. Moreover, BTC holders are owned by large companies and governments from various countries. At least for the long term we don't have to worry

If I had $40,000 I would invest bitcoin. With that kind of money I can invest 1.5 bitcoins. If the price soars high, I will get multiple profits.
