OP, as far as I can see, you usually write posts in off-topic and the Politics and Society sections of the forum.
These aren't exactly parts of the forum where you can get a lot of credit due to the low quality of the discussion.
If you really want to progress on this forum and become a respected member, then you have to learn more about crypto and start writing in crypto forum topics.
Also, you have to learn to write better quality posts, which comes with time and experience.
You can't claim merits, you get it based on your effort and work on this forum.

Don’t chase merit, if you make good, constructive, helpful posts you will receive merit. Don’t obsess about it though because the people who do that get desperate & end up less likely to receive merit.

Just be a good, honest, helpful member of the community here & you’ll get merit.

I understand your frustration because you have 112 posts and not yet rank up to JR.Member and still in a newbie rank, I checked your post history some of them deserve merits but unfortunately, they're unnoticed
I also looked at his profile from the first post to the last post but unfortunately most of his posts are off topic and more posts length one line .

Now the main thing is that you should be active in the forum regularly, share good information, give constructive posts regularly.  Then you can change your rank in future days.  If your constructive post doesn't get merit then you can earn merit by sharing your posts in below threads.

To be honest, I'm still a beginner here. and I want to ask if our ranking will not go up if we don't have merit?
You must have enough merit for each member ranks to get that rank.
Forum rank

When you start out, you are a Newbie, and you will run into various annoying limits. These limits will be reduced to the point where you shouldn't usually notice them after you have participated in the forum for a few weeks. If you are on the forum to talk, then that's all you really need to know about rank. Don't worry about it too much, and you will eventually rank up.

If you want to maximize your rank, then you need to increase two statistics which are listed on your profile:
  • Activity, which is maximized by posting once per day on average. Posting more than that is useless in raising your activity.
  • Merit, which is gained by making good posts.

If you make ten thousand posts in a week, your activity will be capped and you will still be a Newbie. If you make ten thousand useless posts over any period of time, you will gain zero merit and you will still be a Newbie. You can rank up only by making good posts consistently. It's quality over quantity.

When trying to write quality posts, a lot of people act as though they're writing a book report for school: putting facts that we already know into their own words. Nobody wants to read that, and you will not get merit for it. Moreover, the length of your post and the quality of your English are only minor factors. In trying to write a quality post worthy of merit, you should offer new ideas, personal experiences, or perspectives that other forum users will actually find new and interesting.

It is good if you know about Forum purposes because it can help you be a better member in this community.

The purpose of the forum

This forum exists to provide a platform for the free (but ordered) exchange of ideas. If you have an idea to express, then it is probably possible to do it here as long as you follow the rules.

A lot of people come here primarily looking to make money. The forum administration is very happy that people are able to use the forum in order to better themselves; indeed, one of the reasons for Bitcoin's creation was to break the artificial barriers which prevent so many people around the world from attaining prosperity. However, if your attempts to make money conflict with the forum's primary goal of enabling discussion, then you are swimming upstream, and you will not be sucessful in the end.

If you view the forum as some sort of "job" where you complete some basic tasks and get paid, then you will almost certainly be disappointed, and the forum administration will not be sympathetic. If you do make money using the forum, then it will be through innovation and entrepreneurship, not any sort of mindless busywork.

Activity and Merit are required to rank up. And if you talk about merit, it will actually come to you when you make a post that is quite useful for those who read it or can be called a quality post. post quality itself varies. But quality posts are usually always informative (useful for readers) and certainly contain insights in them. so that people who read and feel helped by the post will voluntarily give you Merit.

and I think you have good potential and have some pretty high-quality posts. But unfortunately you often make posts on boards that are not paid much attention to by Sumber Merit. so your posts haven't gotten any Merit.

Merit comes when you least expected it, do not hunt for it, instead keep making contribution and you will earn merits, if anyone on this forum is not earning merits and their activity is over 50 then they are shit posters, it is impossible to make 50 quality posts and none get merited.

If you thing you have any quality posts or topics drop a link and let me check it out, if good enough I will merit the post.

You are correct, no merit means no ranking up. And in order to get merit your posts have to be helpful to someone, which they currently aren't. From what I can see, you are not actively participating in discussions and instead you read the first post of topic, leave your opinion on the matter (and its usually 2-3 sentences) and move to another one.
The fact that you are mostly active in Politics & Society and Off-Topic boards doesn't help either (as they are historically low merit boards) but its possible to get merit there as well if you add value to discussions.

It doesn't like in the past before 2018 where you can rank up if you only have activity, merit is a way to prevent from spammers and low quality post users. So if you don't get any merit, it mean you're a shitposter.
Yes I remember this time when I was about to become a full member then suddenly the merit was implemented then thats it. Ive stayed as member rank for too long and needed merits to gain higher rank. Its very memorable to me cause I think 2 weeks left if I remembered it correctly and my activity is enough to rank then boom.

Yes you cannot rank up without fulfilling the merit requirements for each rank even if your activities are up to it, the reason why merit was introduced was to curb or stop spammers from ranking up, if you're not a spammer and you post very well with quality standards, and what you also post contains important informations that is full of thoughts, members may find it interesting to merit you and you get receiving merits till you meet the required merit for each rank, if you don't post well or if you spam, troll or post shits, no one will merit you and you will not be able to rank up.

As per requirements to rank up you need some merit with the specific range of it, see other members quoted for the requirement you are still a newbie so why not take some time to learn from others here try to observe how they get merit we came from the newbie rank too and having trouble to get merit but sooner or later when you did know how does the merit get you can get yours too, observe first don't get pressure yourself once you think you can share information, thoughts, and knowledge to other members that benefit them merit follows. Don't get the courage to because of the merit system to learn.

You must earn merit to change your rank.

The Bitcoin Forum has been going through various changes, expansions, plans over time.  From 22 November 2009 to 17 June 2013 the forum rank fluctuated with no activity.
At that time, the rank would change only when the full member had 100 posts, the senior member had 250 posts, the hero member had 500 posts and the legendary member had 1000 posts.

18 June 2013 to 23 January 2018 requires activity with Bitcoin forum posts.  Brand New requires 0 posts 0 activities, Newbie 1-28 posts 28 activities, Junior members 30 activities, Members 60 activities, Full members 120 activities, Senior members 240 activities, Hero members 480 activities, Legendary members 960 activities.

Since 24th January 2018, activity as well as merit system has been introduced.  Now it's not just about activity but it has to have merit number.

Brand new/Newbie (0 activity, 0 merits)
Junior member (30 activity, 1 merit required)
Member ( 60 activity, 10 merit required)
Full member ( 120 activity, 100 merit required)
Senior member (240 activity, 250 merit required)
Hero member (480 activity, 500 merit required)
Legendary member ( 960-1000 activity, 1000 merits required)

Yes, you will not experience an increase in rank if you do not get merit. And you can visit the two threads that have been created by theymos and hilariousandco for an explanation of this merit. Please visit the two threads that I have provided below

Technically, how to get merit is different for every forum user, so I won't explain this in more detail because you only need to make useful posts in general so that people in this forum want to send merit to you through the posts you make. Then contribute properly in the forum from now on.

Yes.

You can read in this thread where you must have both activity and merit if you want to rank up Merit & new rank requirements.

This is not true. Many sections have Merit-sources who do not hand out merits properly IMO. Just learn, read, and post what you can. Merits come with Knowledge and trust. Wink
