Maybe I'll buy the next release of Apple for iPhone and MAC whenever Bitcoin hits more than $100k. In that sense, I think that I'll be able to afford it. But for now, I'll choose what's best and that's to hold and invest in Bitcoin. So, it's not just for those who don't have Bitcoin yet but also a reminder for the holders out there. But no one stops you if you want to spend those mBTCs that you've collected over time for you to get spent it to an apple or anything fancy that you don't really need. Gotta stick to my old android for now.  Cheesy

I don't do this often but if my post can save a soul from making the wrong decision, it would be worth the effort. We're in September which is the period which Apple flood the market with their new toys and people make the mistakes of throwing away money every year on these items. Why would anyone buy something that'll be devalued in about 12 months time because around this time next year Apple will be releasing a new set of devices and an upgrade of what will be released this year. Instead of buying those devices now, you can use that money for something more reasonable by investing that money in Bitcoin. The price of Bitcoin is low currently which is another reason to make use of this opportunity to invest in Bitcoin.

It's not necessarily an either-or situation. You can buy a new Apple device and continue to stack sats. I have purchased several Apple devices with Bitcoin that I've earned through the years and don't have any regrets. An iPhone you purchased one year ago might not have the same value but in those past 12 months you've gotten a lot of use from it. These days it is quite easy to upgrade to the latest model without paying the full price upfront. Even if you don't upgrade you will still get software updates for many years to come. My 3 year old Mac and 2 year old iPad aren't the latest and greatest but they have excellent build quality and their performance has not degraded in any noticeable way. If the price potentially going up factored into every purchasing decision then I would never spend BTC and just hoard it forever but that has not really been my mentality. I will spend BTC whenever I can exchange it for something that can provide me significant value in that moment.

Buying an iphone just for texting, taking photos  and calls and not for business purpose is purely a wasteful spending. It's dumb to spend money on a phone that has an expiring value of at most 12months and a new set coming into the market with a difference of one or two added features. Even if I don't want to buy bitcoin I can buy a plot of land with an iPhone 14pro amount and in the next 12 months that land value will surely appreciate.

People that are crazy for iphones are no different from gambling addicts that spends money they could use to invest on promising businesses that will be profitable in the future.
If I am using a phone and the reception is poor it is annoying but I spent say 300 on a samsung a53 and the moron next to me spent 1000 plus on his new iPhone.  we both don't have service but I have 700 worth of btc sitting in a wallet.
Lol. Quite indeed a moron. The dazzling thing about iPhones is that it's those that don't have enough money to fend for themselves are the people in the competition of changing iPhones soon afterwards a new model is released.

They even go through the trouble of making savings in anticipation for new release.

Maybe next time you shouldn't mention how much of a BTC you own in your wallet not to attract attention. Just my two cents

If i had 700 coins of btc yeah I should keep quiet.

living in the states 700 usd is not much money.

I was discussing about this in another thread: I love Apple because I barely had any problem with their products, and the best thing is that they last for a very, very long time. The problem is when someone decides to buy the newer version every year or every 2 years, in that case I agree that you're wasting money because a 2 year old iPhone still works perfectly. I'm probably changing mine this year after 7 years, I'm not sure there is another smartphone on the market that could last for 7 years, that means I pretty much spent $100/year for my smartphone, that's ridiculously low.

However, the problem with some people is they are easily lured by advertisements especially when it comes with a high end iPhone model. For them once you have it, it’s like you are living your dream iPhone. That’s why a lot are actually dreaming to own the latest model of iPhone. But that is only if you are looking in life’s luxury. You fail to realize that in order to obtain and sustain luxury in life, you need to work on it and bitcoin investment would be a perfect choice especially that the longer you invest and hold it, the bigger the profits will be once you decide to sell  it at a very high price. Unlike iPhone once you decide to sell it after months of buying, it’s value will drop too low and that’s when you realize that buying it is never an asset but just a liability.

At the same time, I believe these people who are easily lured by advertisement does not realize that if they put it into Bitcoin. they can even buy two or more of the more advanced units while still having profit if he use the amount for Bitcoin investment.

People are really too rash when it comes to the latest trend.  All they have in mind is bragging and showing off which is understandable because it really feels great to be the center of attention though I believe it is not practical in terms of financial management.  Investing in Bitcoin which has the tendency to uptrend multiple times is way more worth bragging than the ne iPhones we had.

Only a handful of people need the new hi-end model every year.

That would be famous people that are getting a perk for showing off the phone so that morons that do not need it keep buying one.

Also a handful of business types need to 'look' impressive.

The reality is you can't replace the battery it will not last a long time and when reception is poor they don't work.

Both are annoyed but you still gained an advantage because you have bitcoin investment waiting ahead and if it’s gonna give you decent amount of profits in the future, then buying iPhone will be so much easier. The fact that you prioritize bitcoin over an iPhone makes you an incredibly good decision maker. Bitcoin can be very lasting and will continue to give you money and profits, but iPhone will soon to devalue a year after so it’s like you holding a useless investment.

I own a half dozen Mac minis > I used to mod the older stye ones until apple locked them down and I got into bitcoin instead.

I never owned and most likely never will buy an iPhone.

I use mid grade Samsung phones they are essentially all I will ever need in a smart phone.

If I were to waste money on an expensive piece of gear from apple it would be a Mac Studio which I will most likely never need..

Cell phone have shown their hand with battery lockdown ill replaceable batteries mean it is disposable gear.

I really wish people would boycott iPhones and buy Samsungs for 1/3 the cost.
I guess it depends on the user. I owned an iPhone and currently using other apple products. I'm currently using a 3 year old iPhone which run fine and other apple gadgets that I "help" me to do my daily work load.

I'm a past android user, but after using iPhone, I adapted the ecosystem of Apple. I can't feel the satisfaction of using an android phone as my main device but yeah, Apple products are overpriced. In my own perspective, it is disposable just like other phones in the market that downgrade after couple of years given that all of it has a chipset that can't be replaced. I bought my first brand new iPhone way back in 2017 and now it's barely functioning, the thing is I sold my bitcoin to buy that and seeing how the current bitcoin price is, there's some kind of regret on selling my bitcoin for an iPhone.

I would never sell my bitcoin again for the sake of buying a latest generation iPhone.

When then maybe they taught you a lesson and did you a favor. I went cheap with cell phones because I need 3 different ones to use three different accounts for mining accounts. Buying 3 iPhones was out of the question.

I fully agree with the OP and respect your thoughts. But unfortunately, a lot of people are not familiar with Bitcoin, but they have been buying iPhones. On the other hand, those who have been buying iPhones actually have enough money to buy Bitcoin as well

This advice wasn't meant for those who aren't interested or familiar with Bitcoin, it was posted on the forum and on the Bitcoin discussion section because this is the section where many people that are interested in Bitcoin usually visit so obviously everybody that'll be reading this post is aware of Bitcoin. Not everyone buying an iphone has enough money to afford that iphone and bitcoin. People make choices between looking rich or actually investing in a business or opportunity that'll maket them rich in the future. I'm here to remind them that they should go with the choice of choosing investment instead of appearing rich (or comfortable due to the phone they're using).

having the latest iPhone or other luxury items can be a status symbol. people may feel pressure to keep up with their peers or to project a certain image. this desire for status can lead some individuals to make purchases they may not be able to comfortably afford. but there are other people who understands, this are the wrong things to waste money on and they save money for emergency or invest it for gains.

That's the mistake many people are making, the goals shoudn't be about appearing rich but to be rich to the level that you wouldn't care about proving to others that you're wealthy. Only those with poor mentality surround themselves with gadgets and things that'll make them look rich when they're not. Having the latest iphone shouldn't be the flex for you but how many bitcoin do you own and holding in your wallet. If you're in a cycle that all they brag about is having the latest gadgets then you're in the wrong group. Iphone bought with such high amount that isn't been used for a business or generating money for you is a liability but Bitcoin is an assets and it's going to give you more profits then you bought them in the future.

And if you don't get satisfied with it, just do this:
1. Install an iOS-style launcher.
2. Download a skin, theme, or icon pack.
3. Get some iOS-style apps.
4. Apply a new lock screen.
5. Update your Quick Settings with a Control Center app.
6. Try an iOS emulator.
Steps

But using up those skins or launcher could a bit laggy (basing up on experience) dont know though if the current ones do give out that seamless experience specially on hovering animations
because wayback i did really have this kind of download and trying out to mimic that iphone skin because i cant just afford one but honestly it doesnt really make that difference. Your mind telling you that you are just using a fake one literally and cant really replace the original but well yes but its not really that a bad idea.  Tongue

Human beings doesnt really have that kind of contentment in life on which on the time that they would really be seeing on whats new or whats the current trend then we do really hate up ourselves not to be able to get in line with those stuffs and as long you do have the money or budget then you would really be dying on getting one and dont make yourself get behind with the trend. Some people do have this kind of mindset and there are those people who do mind much more about investment or long term runs and this is where Bitcoin could possibly get or kick in, if you dont mind such stuff because you do have your parents
or have that other sources then it would be your choice.

It’s true after the second quarter of the year, people will have their 6-8 months of saving. So they will try to inverse their money in the electronic gadget mostly, from the analysis the iPhone may have try this way of selling. Now the market is good,So if you want to buy the good coin it will be the better time. But if you want to buy at cheap,it’s essential one to hold and wait for the new dump.Their will dump in market even after the bull run,So it’s essential one to hold and buy at the dump.It is far better to inverse in bitcoin as compared to the iPhone investment.

One of the last big purchases I made using Bitcoin was an iPad. I think I paid 1.25 BTC for it. Looking back, that wasn’t my best purchase and I don’t even use it anymore. So I can attest that if you have some BTC, it isn’t always the best idea to dump it for a new shiny thing, although I’m about to make the same mistake with a Tesla.

Nothing necessarily bad with spending money broskis. It's totally fine if:

- You can use that thing to be more productive for your job/business
- You only spend on things you want from time to time. Buying 'wants' from time to time is good as long as you live below your means

What is life if you can't enjoy your money from time to time?
Basically should be for someone who thinks her or she can always afford to spend such an amount of money each year buying the latest iPhone as a luxury then fine, but in a situation like I have seen here in my country where people are desperate to buy and own the latest iPhone but barely can afford to pay house rent and some can't even feed well, is not encouraging to do such when you already got an iPhone working perfectly.

But from my perspective, what I do think one should do in this case is to give a space of time, maybe 1 year or two if necessary before getting the latest iPhone, and If the money was used to invest in Bitcoin, in a good scenario might even have realized some profit with the fund.

Nothing lasts forever
I didn't even bother to check the price of the new iphone 15 because I am not gonna buy it anyway.
But I know many will and let them buy. Meanwhile we can try to accumulate more BTC while we can.
Yes, I am being more selfish here and I want to because bitcoin is precious and I want to grab it as much as I can.

Quite provocative but the best sober advice you can get for free!!
Besides I think these phones in terms of technology have hit their peak and have nothing left to upgrade but because we get trapped into having to upgrade every year for no real upgrades..I honestly think it's a ripoff and good thing we have such threads to act as an eye opener...Unless you still using an iPhone with the home button then you are due for an upgrade my friend, otherwise save that money and buy bitcoin or Invest the DCA way  Cool

Sometimes, it’s really easy to say about avoiding iPhone and stick your money into bitcoin especially if you are on a low budget. But if you are seeing it from the eye of a person who gets easily envy and has luxury desires, then it’s hard to stop them from not buying iPhone because they think that will determine their social status in life. However, if you are a wise and brilliant investor, you will not spend an amount equivalent to an iPhone price. The only reason you will buy it is when you are already in huge profits and you want to reward yourself something that is very usable for you.

Well said dude. Buying an iPhone is not really a necessity. You only want to have one just because you want to ride the trend and that’s it. It won’t make you profitable in the end.
It really depends on your financial condition. If you have good finances while an iPhone is a necessity that supports you, then you also need to buy it. Lastly, we cannot generalize that everyone is the same, even someone who buys an iPhone instead of investing in bitcoin also has the opportunity to make bigger profits because the iPhone is something that can support his business.

However, if you chose to invest in bitcoin instead, even at a particularly small amount, you might turn it into big profits if you sell your bitcoin at a very expensive price. It takes time but it’s definitely worth the wait. Than to spend your money on iPhone which is very unreasonable if you don’t have a well compensated job and then after a couple of months, your iPhone may depreciate its value and all your money just go into waste.
For most people, the iPhone may be considered a necessity, but for others, the iPhone is just a lifestyle. I agree that investing is recommended rather than wasting money, but when you need it to support your business, you can't keep forcing yourself to invest.

My only principle is, buy it if you need it rather than as a lifestyle. I'm more likely to buy an iPhone that costs $1500 if it can support my business that generates $2000 or more a month. So the conclusion is that it depends on each individual.
