I don't do this often but if my post can save a soul from making the wrong decision, it would be worth the effort. We're in September which is the period which Apple flood the market with their new toys and people make the mistakes of throwing away money every year on these items. Why would anyone buy something that'll be devalued in about 12 months time because around this time next year Apple will be releasing a new set of devices and an upgrade of what will be released this year. Instead of buying those devices now, you can use that money for something more reasonable by investing that money in Bitcoin. The price of Bitcoin is low currently which is another reason to make use of this opportunity to invest in Bitcoin.

Those that bought bitcoin and ignored the latest iphone during the period those previous model above (in the image) were launched have made a better financial decision and anybody thinking of getting the new iphone when you already have a perfectly working phone should rethink that decision and invest the money in buying Bitcoin. You'll be getting around BTC0.031 +/-  which will be worth more in the future than the amount you'll spend to buy it while that new Iphone will lose value in the next 12 months. if you really what to get something relating to apple then buy their stocks instead of the devices (that's another means of diversifying your portfolio, if you think you already have enough Bitcoin secured for the future).

Just imagine the profits that would have been if those that bought the new iphone during the release date of those model above bought bitcoin instead. Avoid making same mistakes and choose bitcoin.

I agree with the OP, I've tried the look at the features of the new Apple device and the previous one, I've seen that there is no much difference really.
So if you already have iPhone 14, I don't see the need in getting latest version of 15. Especially when the one you're using hasn't gone bad.
So it's at best you invest that money,, especially on bitcoin because there will be certainly  a return in investment after a while. But for the iPhone,  immediately you get that device, it will start to diminish in value as the months counts.

I consider myself not in the center of the consumerism wave affecting many people who seem to be attracted with something new and showing to the whole world that they can afford the latest and the best even if it means emptying their pockets and or using credit cards to afford the latest devices and gadgets. I am not into iPhone and my smartphone just cost a little more than $100. Now, as to people who prefer to part with their hard-earned money investing with Apple products no matter how expensive they are, it is time to think thrice into the future. Investing into BTC is always the right choice.

One of the last big purchases I made using Bitcoin was an iPad. I think I paid 1.25 BTC for it. Looking back, that wasn’t my best purchase and I don’t even use it anymore. So I can attest that if you have some BTC, it isn’t always the best idea to dump it for a new shiny thing, although I’m about to make the same mistake with a Tesla.

The other side of the coin is this......

Imagine something really bad happened and you hoarded all your coins and this event caused the Crypto currency prices to collapse? You will then look back to the things that you could have bought with those coins and you would have had the same regrets.

I sold some of my coins to pay for my debt.... and I never looked back at what those coins are valued today. (may be once or twice  Grin)

The fact of the matter is this.... everyone should sell some coins and enjoy the reward of hoarding it for years... then do something constructive with that. Go on a nice holiday to an exotic location ....because those memories last forever.... or pay your debt and save on all the interest you would have had to pay in the future.

Enjoy your coins.... and always save some coins for the big Moon day!

Ah but K its about making choices, your not going to look back and say, "damn I'm
really glad I bought that new iPhone"

Selling Bitcoin to pay off debt is acceptable and in some cases is a good choice.

Great point made by Brainboss though and a great life lesson too generally speaking.

We dont need these new devices, we are led to believe that we do need them and so
many people fall for that.

Its a way better move to refrain from buying and stick with Bitcoin

It doesn't make  any sense to keep buying expensive iPhone because all the past iPhones are all having the same thing in common there is no new features that is different from the old iPhones it is all about updating their OS to latest version with numbers that is all I will rather prefer to invest my money instead of buying an expensive iPhone because in the end that iPhone won't give me anything in return.

The funny part is as Time Goes On the iPhone will depreciate in value, in my country we prefer Android phones more than iPhone and side by side I believe Android is capable of many things than iPhone I know some iPhone fans might not agree with me about this but it is the truth I Android phones are more useful to me than Iphone.

There are some set of people that I've been buying iPhone since the beginning and all the way up to iPhone 15 they have never missed one but you can tell that they don't know anything about Investments because the phone they have from them is far more valuable than the way they think because they have nothing to show for it so mean is just a waste of money and lack of knowledge.

In my country the people don't buy iPhones(or expensive smartphones in general) by paying the whole price upfront.
They buy iPhones by paying monthly for 24-month periods. Paying a monthly fee won't break your wallet, but at the end of the day, that's just a smartphone.
I agree that we don't need expensive toys like iPhone 15, but that's human nature. Many people just buy expensive items to brag and flex.
Many people want to look rich, while in reality they are just middle class or poor. The marketing experts at iPhone understand this and they are exploiting this part of human nature very well. AFAIK, the new iPhones will be assembled in India(Bharat) by Indians from the working class, but the consumers in the USA and Europe keep thinking that iPhone is this super luxurious, super high quality toy, which helps you show of your "high" social status. So those who want to buy an iPhone these days, it would be better if they invest in Bitcoin. Because currently the price of Bitcoin is also low, it is a good time to invest, it is expected that the price of Bitcoin can reach 100k in 2025. Now instead of buying an iPhone, if you buy Bitcoin with the same amount of money, you can earn the profit of buying 4 iPhones in 2025.
You’re missing the whole point, OP is definitely talking about buying a new brand of iPhone just because it comes out not that he is advising against buying a iPhone in totality. I could decide to buy the iPhone today because it definitely fits my budget and could also have some money to spare purchase bitcoin and that to Me is not bad because we definitely need smartphones and either iPhone or android’s they are expensive ones you just need to settle for the one that fits your budget and not going over the hills because of trend.

Also we can’t be so certain that someone who buys a bitcoin now would be get a profit of like 4x in 2025 even though the possibility of a bull run is certain after halving we can predict any bitcoin price and it is better to just invest what one can lose and if the iPhone money is something you can’t lose then buy the phone to have rest of mind before you invest. Because investing in bitcoin with money one can’t lose causes market panic and forces some to sell early even when bitcoin is down

I only bought an Apple product once a few years ago when Bitcoin entered a bearish period. I don't remember exactly how much Bitcoin I had to convert to fiat to buy the iPad, but of course when I kept it until now the value of Bitcoin is already higher than when I used it to buy that product.
All electronic goods will decrease in value, if they are only used as a lifestyle, of course, it is very detrimental, but if it is to support work or business then it is actually not a problem, but often more people buy products from Apple just for lifestyle because that is what I see from people around me who use it, buy an iPad just to watch YouTube which can use a cheaper product.
Selling our Bitcoin to buy Apple products is fine in my opinion, even though we will feel a loss when in the future the price of Bitcoin is higher than when we used it to buy the product, but providing compensation for ourselves is quite important so that we can be more enthusiastic about to collect Bitcoins for future profits.

I like the OP's message, only that there are several nuances. There are people who can buy a new Iphone by paying cash and already have enough bitcoin, so the message does not apply. In the end we all use a mobile phone nowadays, the problem is having a low income always going into debt to buy the latest model to appear a status that you don't have. But it can also be reasonable to buy an iPhone but not the latest one, or a second-hand one, or a refurbished one. There are many options. Instead of spending $1,000 or more on the latest Iphone (15) you can still buy the 13 and refurbished, and for $400 or so you can have it.

But as I said I like the message of not spending so much on junk and better to invest in bitcoin.

It’s crazy how expensive these phones have gotten. I remember the first iPhone I got was the iPhone 3G or 3GS and it was like $399 or something. Now we got iPhones in the 4 digit range it’s crazy.

Even if you want to buy used, the used is still expensive. In Canada the iPhone X was like $1300 CAD new and you can buy it on eBay used but it’s still for $300 CAD. The older iPhone 7 you can get for like $100, which is better. Not worth paying $300 for a used phone with no warranty.

I would say we all have different perspectives and there are some people who want to invest in materialistic things without even realizing they have depreciating value over time but if we calculate the pleasure index value sort of things it's fine but yeah investing that much amount in assets like bitcoin that generate value over time increasing your wealth that should be our priority. If someone would have invested the same amount on bitcoin rather then on iPhones back in the time they would have their own apple store by the time now(just going little above as a example) but still we see how it works.

It's your money if you buy a new iPhone and show it off to other people, but it would be better if your money was used for a more profitable investment, especially if the device you are using is new like the iPhone 13 or 14, trust me, the model is the same and even the performance is not much better. Besides buying a new device, it is much better to be able to invest money in something more profitable, the best of which is Bitcoin. The potential increase in the value of Bitcoin is much greater, especially in 2024 when the halving will occur. Believe me, it is much more worth it to invest in Bitcoin than buying a new iPhone.

Nothing necessarily bad with spending money broskis. It's totally fine if:

- You can use that thing to be more productive for your job/business
- You only spend on things you want from time to time. Buying 'wants' from time to time is good as long as you live below your means

What is life if you cant enjoy your money from time to time?

Just imagine the profits that would have been if those that bought the new iphone during the release date of those model above bought bitcoin instead. Avoid making same mistakes and choose bitcoin.

Apple seems to have many loyal customers that will even borrow to get the latest model. I know these products have some unique features like high quality and durability but I don't think people should go the extra mile to own an upgraded version. Sometimes the difference between the new and the old version is just an ignorable feature. Eve Jobs the daughter of the co-founder of Apple once mocked the company for producing an iPhone 14 that is very similar to iPhone 13.

But this is a sad reality in most developing nations where young people who are living in poverty will save funds to spend on luxuries like buying iPhones instead of investing in something profitable. And in most cases, their former iPhones are in good condition but they just want to experience the features of the upgraded version. Some of them use the easy buy option where they have to spread the payment with interest for months because they can't afford to pay cash. In this case, such a person might work for a whole year just to pay for a phone while he has no savings or investment. These phones are nothing liabilities because the price will keep depreciating over one. But putting a few dollars in Bitcoin might look like a waste now but the benefit might turn out massive in a few years.

Bitcoin is GOD
To me owing an iPhone is not an issue here, the only issue I see is when someone tries to switch from his current Apple product to the latest one just to experience the new features which is not that different from what I can tell as an iPhone user.

I’m currently using an iPhone, and the fact that a new product is hitting the market very soon does not mean I should hurry up and get a new one, if at all I want to use that specific one I’d wait for the hype to die down after which I’ll purchase mine or just continue with my current phone, I had a reason why I purchased my current iPhone and since it’s still able to do it very fine I’m sticking to it no matter how flashy the latest might be.
I agree, if someone needs a new smartphone because one of those new features is really needed for their job and they can more easily make money with it, or they lost their smartphone or at least they can justify that purchase then I do not see anything wrong with it.

What is wrong is consumerism for consumerism’s sake, as the money that we earn each month is limited and such a purchase is simply a waste of money, money which could be used more effectively as the OP states by investing in bitcoin or other assets which reevaluate themselves over time.

One of the reasons people waste their money to buy an iPhone is because the product looks luxurious and premium, iPhone users just want to look cool which makes their prestige a level higher than Android users, they just want to improve the quality of life because they have an iPhone in their hands. As attached in the picture, The iPhone will continue to be upgraded with the launch of new products which make old products increasingly lose their price.

Behind their confidence in using the iPhone, it turns out there is something more valuable, if they buy Bitcoin and ignore the iPhone, they will get greater benefits. Bitcoin currently trading at a slightly lower price could be a reason for them to change their lifestyle to buy something more valuable than an iPhone. The iPhone will lose value, whereas buying Bitcoin when it is cheap has the potential to add value, a comparison like this should cross their minds.

You have given the right advice. Investing in Bitcoin is definitely better than buying an iPhone. Suppose someone in 2012 instead of buying an iPhone 4S bought an equivalent amount of Bitcoin, he can now buy thousands of iPhones with 162 BTC. In 2012, the price of an iPhone was 162 BTC, now it costs only 0.031 BTC to buy an iPhone. So those who want to buy an iPhone these days, it would be better if they invest in Bitcoin. Because currently the price of Bitcoin is also low, it is a good time to invest, it is expected that the price of Bitcoin can reach 100k in 2025. They (iPad, Tesla) are not assets but liabilities and their values drop with time or even fall to nearly zero when they are outdated or technical broken.

It is painful experience as with 1.25 BTC today, you can buy more than one iPad but your story is not different than laszlo bought 2 pizzas with 10,000 bitcoins.

We can not know price of Bitcoin in future so if we use bitcoin to buy anything, consider we cash it out to fiat currency and spend that fiat amount for purchase. I don't want to reduce painful feeling but it is what I think the best I can do when I do it.

That is a really good graph, most people can't understand some other graphs but i think that it is self explanatory.

Personally i am not fan of the apple products, the last one that i have was an iphone 4 some 13 years Ago, but damn it was a really bad purchase.

one of my favorite charts is the version of the price on a logarithmic chart with the halving delimited

Stack every satoshi that you can.
