I've been using imgur as a service for a long time to convert image into bbforum link
Me as well, I am using imgur since the day I learned how to upload images here. I am so used to that's why I'm so upset to encounter problems with it. There are times that I cannot access it. At first I thought it was just a simple slow internet connection but when I enter other sites there's no error at all. Also, my "Desktop Mode" technique when I upload using my smartphone doesn't work any longer.

I actually tried to access the site this morning and this appeared. So for me, it's time to find a better alternative. Imgur is out, imgbb is in lol Grin.

~~~
All the image I uploaded in the previous post are still well accessible and I don't seem to have any issues with imgur as long as the link starts with https. But sometime I also use imgbb as an alternative service if I can't access imgur. I've been using imgur as a service for a long time to convert image into bbforum link, using vpn can also help if the site is difficult to access.
It would be amazing if we were able to upload images directly on bitcointalk while posting.
I don't know if this would be possible from an extension?
Btw with our image hosting, we would be able to integrate compression and resize tools and save a lot of space while giving comfort to users.
I quickly searched for it when I posted this, and there are several image upload scripts out there. If anyone's in for a project ..... Cheesy
besides imgur.com which is currently having problems and imgbb.com as you mentioned.
postimg.cc is also a good alternative in my opinion, because I have been using it for a long time and until now I have never had any problems with the image display.
In fact, I have an account and save a lot of pictures that I've uploaded before.
I agree with taufik123.
In my formatting of scam reports, I mainly use https://postimages.org/ as my main source of posting images in the forum. I tried using imgur but most of the time, I experienced the same error. For some reason, the images in imgur expires and it appears as an "invalid image" after a given set of time.
You can check my history of topics that I created and almost every picture that I posted, I used postimage. I hope you settle and consider this solution, OP.
However, if imgur.com will not work for you there's an alternative and I think imgbb.com working fine too.
But, is it not possible for this function to be implemented in epochtalk?
The forum already caches all images, so bandwidth shouldn't be the problem.
But I don't think Admin wants to deal with copyright issues. Now the forum can claim this:
If you are complaining about an image located at ip.bitcointalk.org: That image is hosted elsewhere, and we are only proxying it from the original location in order to protect user privacy. You should not complain to us.
It would be amazing if we were able to upload images directly on bitcointalk while posting. But after seeing that page, now I understood why it will never happen. There is a chance there he would get a lot of complains and it would be a waste of time and headache for him, so he directly redirects everyone to image hosting. Btw with our image hosting, we would be able to integrate compression and resize tools and save a lot of space while giving comfort to users.
Isn't there any image upload service provider where you would be able to get their API and implement on the website and upload from it? Ahh, I think dream will be a dream in this case.
Same also with me. I had tried to visualize the code that you provided and same error. However, the link is good and the image is visible to Imgur app.
In my case, I do not have experience anything that gone wrong using Imgur app copied and paste the link. Do this problem could be about the Imgur or the BCT or anything else?
Anyway, I think you have uploaded a different file already and then copied and paste Imgur image link to bct that is working fine already.
Lately, I didn't frequently post images here in the forum, and as I have experienced it works fine for me.
I found this while searching for the reason that I'm curious too what happens now to this image hosting site.
They had reported down last week and it might this is the reason.
I was in same shoes as OP in the past until I noticed that imgur app works better for me, I only have issues when using the web page, and also make sure that the link you copied starts with the i. and ends with either .jpg or .png, give the app a try cos the image always displays without error code when I post it on Bitcointalk forum
I've been trying to post images meant to be reflected on posts in this forum for sometime now and it has always been a failed attempt. I used it a couple of months ago and it worked but now, it's been me struggling without any success. Instead, what I get is a wait and loading notification that never ends. Even is it's just a single picture I was to upload, the same thing happens and it's been bordering me as I'm not veryaware or used to other options.
Anyone experiencing this recently or has a solution for me?
Currently they are working on site and updating this all just because of this sometime I am also facing some issues because many times its appear different type erros but sometime after closing this all with browser and then open again works for me ok and now its not giving any error or problem to me.
But today due to @SFR10 I am able to have size of image because many time big images was not working with many tries now I can understand what was problem.
I have faced the same problem when I try to help by quoting a post in Roobet art contest. All the format was the same but some are displayed correctly but some of them showing error. I checked several times to find out the wrong with the link. but it was correct. But I did not try to check the image size. Maybe this was the problem that is mentioned by SFR10 above. Smiley
I am always interested in the question of why such addictions to hosting https://imgur.com?
Are there no other alternatives without some kind of dancing with a tambourine?
I use https://imgbb.com/
And if you check my postings of pictures in 2018, they are displayed and displayed until today.
Am I missing something? Open my eyes to these preferences. Smiley
Before most of my issues when sharing images is on the height and width sometimes it's not appropriate. I recommend using this suggestion too.
also uploading with GIF, when I try to enter a gif into imgur and try to preview right here on our forum it gives a proxy error, so on the other hand, I need to use the Giphy with the use of this syntax.
Code:
Idk why but something like this always happened to me. I'm dummy at technical stuff, but somehow found a way to solve it Cheesy Cheesy
There is a much easier way for you to share images uploaded via imgur. Click on the "Options" (those three little dots) button next to "Copy Link" and then click on "Get Share Links". There will be a few options but for forum use you need to copy this as seen in the screenshot below.
Another thing I noticed you do; when you are resizing images you don't need to change both width and height, changing one of them is enough and the other will adjust automatically keeping the same ratio.
@LoyceV
That would be a great idea and I think it will be beneficial for a lot of people in this community. But, is it not possible for this function to be implemented in epochtalk?
Thank you for posting both examples. I checked and it looks like it's exceeding the "updated 2.5 MB" limit for images [your initial guess was correct "file size"]...
- Yours is 2.69 MB.
Seriously? It took me 3 years before it happened to have an idea that there is an image size limit of 2.5 MB, I thought that the limit is only for posting GIF's.
Thank you for the clarification. Appreciated a lot!
I've thought about it before, but don't think I can pull it off on my own: how cool would it be to have bitcoinimages.org as an image archive site dedicated to Bitcointalk? If it's setup in such a way that anyone can backup the entire archive, it can easily be replaced by another site if the domain owner disappears (assuming Bitcointalk Admin is willing to change the image URL in all posts).
This could help to make images available for a very long time. I used to use Tinypic.com, which has already disappeared. I'm currently using my own loyce.club for hosting my images, but chances are it won't exist anymore in a couple decades. I don't think Imgur.com offers any guarantees either.
This is an example of link in which it displays proxy error even if it has "https" protocol, that's the link of my final entry in roobet contest.
Before:
Images must be less than 1.5MB. Resize or compress your image.
Latest:
OK, I increased it to 2.5.
