Alcohol is definitely bad for the liver, at any quantity. In addition to that, the WHO (World Health Organization) has classified alcohol as a Group 1 carcinogen. The medical properties of wine can be attributed to its non-alcoholic components, such as Resveratrol and Anthocyanin.
Of course alcohol is poison and it is mistakenly attributed to food. It can only help for medicinal purposes if it is taken in quantities of not more than one spoon.
