having a conversation with a friend today , he was asking me if he should sell or hold a coin. i didnt give a straight answer, i just told him the project is a good one that can do well but if you are willing to wait then you can hold but if you need some money then you can sell off. he then replied that he will wait for an additional 25% increase before he would sell off. i think i tried my best to let him make his final decision himself. is there any better way to do this? if it were you, how would you respond to this. ??

I will also give the same answer as you because the final decision lies with him and all risks will be accepted by him. Will he get the profit he wants or will he suffer a loss? we as friends only provide the best and realistic advice. but the final decision rests with him.
You can give advice and still be clear that you do not know what happens it would be better to tell them the truth and investing in any altcoin is a risk and the risk is less with Bitcoin but you have to make it clear that it is their decision if they decide to invest or not and you do not want to affect them by saying they will profit.

Always hold Bitcoin and sell Altcoins when you have hit your goal. Bitcoin will make you rich if you can hold long enough but altcoins are a phase which dies out and a lot of the coins being released are scams beware of that. I recommend investing most if not all of your money into Bitcoin because it is likely that it will continue to rise in the long term. Altcoins are dependent on the perception of the other investors and could dump at any time.

if it all depends on needs, not all have the same needs,, a small example if something urgent and willingly can be sold..
but in my opinion,, it's better for us to hold on to some of it and we try to find the shortcomings that will be needed by working offline which immediately get results..

The hold or sell decision is always a personal one and a lot of discretion always come into the decision making.
I approach investments with a sole purpose of making profits, the profits i make however is determined by the market and how price moves. But since no one can predict the market conditions, then it is always good to sell a portion of your profits as price moves in your favour. That way you wont loose all your profits if the price dumps

From your case with your friend, I can guess that if he sells, he must sell half the coins. The other half he must have held.
I imagine if the coin he holds is ETH, surely your friend will get more than 25% profit.
For me, your friend has made the best decision.
If he adds ETH coins in the portfolio then it will be very lucky because the increase in ETH is very drastic at the moment, I have allocated part of the investment in ETH because the top coin in recovering assets when other altcoins suffer losses, I hold 40% of the ETH coins in the current portfolio .

If indeed the coin has a good selling value for the future, then the steps you have taken are correct, considering that currently the coin does not have a good selling value in the market, but you did not mention the name of the coin, so I cannot predict the future of the coin. has good potential.

Hopefully the decision he takes is not only because of the advice you give, but he also conducts his own study and analysis of the coin, if what he wants is not achieved, then disappointment is not a reason to blame you.

Sell it while its up to save your buying price, and save other to long term hold if you think your coin will profitable.
If i were you, ill choose to save it all if thoose are top five coins in marketcap, as my experience, keeping top 5 coin in marketcap for long term will give me proper profit.

If you are holding a good amount for a short term Then there should be profit target. After hitting that you can sell your 50% and you can hold other 50% when you think now it can give you loss you can sell your other 50% at that time.
You have implemented good risk management but not only set a low profit target even for short term trading, you have to measure the potential development of the project in a few weeks until before the big development program has been realized, it will give you higher profits than targeted.

if in an urgent time as mentioned, I will still hold the Altcoin that I hold if it has the potential for large prices in the future. because if you look at the benefits provided in digital currency, it will usually exceed the current needs. therefore I will keep holding it until I get a lot of profit.

In my opinion, Holding is better than selling. but if you see any token's price going down very fast you should sell the token. holding is best for a powerful project, if you know that it is a very powerful project and having a bright future then you can hold

The decision to hold or sell, is all depending on your financial capacity, for me I bought a coin wort 300$ (Propel token) i woke up one morning and I was seriously in need of cash to solve my pressing needs and the token was my only reserve fund, and as of that time I the price was down by almost 60%, I sold that token for less than a 100 $.
So for me the idea of holding depending on your  financial capacity.

If you are in altcoins,,, the decision is actually very easy. Sell ASAP and put everything back into Bitcoin:) Minimum at ETH:)

You may say it easy especially if you do not like to hold altcoins, but I believe you will not say it easy especially if you have some experiences when you make a huge profit by holding altcoins with small capital at the beginning. No doubt that bitcoin and eth may are great crypto but some time other altcoin may give us greater profit than bitcoin and eth.

It depends on the coin's potential. We can not expect every coin will rise over time. Only some of the good coins move whether the market is bull. I would only advise holding if the coin is trusted in the market otherwise I won't suggest holding but on the other hand we know some shit coins also pumps sometimes so we can not predict the future of any coins whether it is a shit coin or a good coin.
It's hard to predict whether a coin is good or not but at least we need to do our own research and analysis to get more information,
so that then we will know which coins are good or not according to our knowledge

we can see the potential by simply looking at the good things it will bring to the world by solving some problems.
but we can also see a project potential from its product, take example nft games like decentraland, it has real product that's potential
so it can become popular in the future. but it also depends on the developer itself, whether they can grow their project or not.

I will give some suggestions based on coin value. If you are planning to sell BTC,ETH, BNB and LTC.  you can hold this coin because in the future the coin value will increase X2. So you can alternatively try other coins for sale like doge and Tron.

In my opinion, other than Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) , BNB or top 10 coins, they are better sold. Because other coins besides BTC and Ethereum will not necessarily benefit when held for a long time.
