Hold when you think it is needed and when you think that you can make a good profit from it. Sell when you think it gonna be the best thing to do especially when that project is worthless.
There is an easy decision to be made when you know enough about the project. But I think holding is just only for reliable coins like BTC and ETH, not for new projects. Even you hold Bitcoin for how many years, you feel nothing to worry about as the price is increasing.

In my opinion, the good decision for that is to do both because you can earn a lot by holding and selling or I can just say buy and sell in the market just make sure to learn how to analyze the market before you do. Just always remember that buy when it is low and sell when it is high for the coin that is in the flow of the market.

having a conversation with a friend today , he was asking me if he should sell or hold a coin. i didnt give a straight answer, i just told him the project is a good one that can do well but if you are willing to wait then you can hold but if you need some money then you can sell off. he then replied that he will wait for an additional 25% increase before he would sell off. i think i tried my best to let him make his final decision himself. is there any better way to do this? if it were you, how would you respond to this. ??
I would agree to your decision that I would rather hodl those tokens/coins that has a very high potential to give me a better profit while holding it long term and I would definitely sell-off and take profit those tokens that for me is just good for a short period of time.

I am sure there have been tens of thousands of people regretting that they just kept HODLing in 2018 and now again. HODLing as the only strategy is a bad strategy. You should definitely consider to revise your portfolio from time to time. Not to a 100%, but check out whether the assessment you once made is still up to date or whether it might be out of date. A team might have changed, they be running out of funding or be in legal trouble (headword: security).

There are many aspects you need to double check over time in order to determine whether holding or selling is the better decision in a certain situation.

holding it down believes that the future of the project is very good, No matter how long it takes to hold because of the current market conditions, the most important thing is that as long as they have a good project work trip, it is very worth following.

Its such an individual action that must be taken by your friend. Yes, as others have said if he needs money then obviously he must sell. Top tier coins can be held until the holders target is reached IMO. Sometimes its just better to get rid of a coin if its not really doing anything. Id rather sell off a stagnant coin and re purpose the funds into something more lively.

You didn't mention what coin that your friend is holding it now. Although, you just became careful of the words you are going to tell him.
But still it is up to Him when He gonna sell it whether He gets profit or not. So, as a friend of Him I will respect his choice of decision anyway
as long as I do my part as a real friend advise.

If he think that the coin he have,  has a great potential then hold it for quite sometime and wait for the right timing, when value increases already and the market is in good condition too then that's the time to sell your coin orvided that you have a good site to treade your coin and is legit so that you won't regrets it later on. just be wise though.
Apart from holding it we also need to analyze market movements however it is an important thing,
and in holding coins I think we have to really be patient,
Obviously holding a coin isn't that easy and hopefully he can

Its high time to invest in a good project. As today's price of BTC about $39000+. It seems that BTC price correction is almost done. One should invest his principle dividing into two halves. One half should be invested now another half should be invested if market goes for another down or up for bullish. Cool Smiley

the decision is entirely in the hands of the altcoin owner himself, whether it is a loss or experiencing a gain, only he will feel it himself, whatever decisions that have been taken today should never be regretted in the future. The crypto market is moving so fast that we don't know what will happen, even for the next 1 hour.
I agree on that we need to decide in our own and we need not to lean into others decision, because we as the owner of the coin will be the one to loss if ever the coin that we invested will drop down. So the decision is really in our hands not in the others hand, we can only read and understand others suggestion but if we think that thier suggestion is not right then don't follow them make your own decision for good.

Always take profit at every level of your investment. While you still hodl it's still adviceable to take off some profit to pay yourself while you expect more profit on a long run so you would appreciate the essence of investing in any project you believe in

Well, the simple thing is, we hold back for the benefit. if we already make a profit, the choice is to wait for a bigger profit, or sell it. however, it depends on the management of each person in managing their finances. So far, I have sold when I have made a profit of over 50%. however, in these circumstances, I hold back, and try to accumulate assets.

None knows about that dude. When you are investing in the shitcoin and you should have taken a short time hodl as the time span to hodl your shitcoin.
So many people were betting on the shitcoin caused by this is the only way for them all to generate a lot of money in a short time.

They are betting on meme caused by doge FOMO.

well, that is what I mean, if you bet on shitcoin you have to accept the risk that you will experience, I have bought shitcoin in small amounts of 5 $ for each project because I see some people can make more than 10 or even 100x as much in a short time.
So there is no need to buy in bulk, but out of the 4 projects I participated in were all scams and I got nothing.

And that's common with this kind of business, even you bet as many as you think that one may bring something good,

chances that none will performed is higher than what you think, what matters here is you are willing to gamble and

see if luck will permits you, if not, then move forward and try more harder.
then what is done is almost the same as gambling if you only hope for luck.
I think choosing assets to hold or sell would be based on better analysis and planning. so what we do will not make a regret if something does not go according to what we planned.

I'm personally going through something like this presently. The market has experienced a substantial downwards movement and it feels like its more than a market correction. I really don't know whether this is the end of the bull run or just a market correction. The bull run has lasted for quite a while but I wish it could last for a while longer. I'm so used to the market hitting new highs and seeing the dwindling market is depressing.

holding your token or BTC will still be a loss when the downward movement continues to do after weeks. we use to just trade to usdt to hedge our profit i guess that's a logical thing to do.  i think i'm going to jump the bridge tonight for not doing it since last week.

its still worth waiting for what could really happen by June if the crypto market starts kicking again while the USD value is also shrinking because of money printing. i'm going to gamble still for holding my EOS and WAVES.

I will give some suggestions based on coin value. If you are planning to sell BTC,ETH, BNB and LTC.  you can hold this coin because in the future the coin value will increase X2. So you can alternatively try other coins for sale like doge and Tron.

I think the decision must be made in accordance with the altcoins he has. because there is a potential altcoin and there is shitcoin. so before making a decision, you must identify and research about the altcoins you have. after you get the answer from the research it is time for you to make a decision, whether to sell it immediately or have to hold it longer.

And he should leave the final decision to his friend. Because if he will suggest and later on, it goes sideways, he may be blamed. Even if we say he is a friend, we don't know what people can do when there is money involved. So better stay away from this kind of suggestion but he can always tell to his friend to do his own research and assessment of the project.
