I received one of my orders (1x Gridseed which is now hashing away at 360kh). Still to receive the other one (10x Gidseeds) which was shipped earlier and didn't have any tracking number from the shipment confirmation email. Not being fussy but Michael Cao had replied to my original email on Mar 14 (where I asked for tracking number) with: "My assistant will email it to you within 24 hours." It's now more than 3 days! Smiley

Zoomhash, I PM-ed you the order no. Can you please check and send me the tracking number

Thanks

usually the larger orders are shipped from china directly. They will get you tracking when the gridseeds are on there way. Just a heads up.

Zoomhash emailed me the Fedex tracking number. Shipped from China and delivering tomorrow.
Thank you! I know you must be really busy and I do appreciate your taking the time to address queries! A breath of fresh air. Once I set up these grids, will be looking to replace most of my GPU rigs and will definitely buy from you!

I got 3 in today brings me up to 9. 6 from zoom hash.    well looks like my little asrock z77  itx-e mobo has a limit of 8 gridseeds.

not bad  but I was hoping for it to do more like 12-16.  I am running the 9th one on a different board.

for now I will have to stop orders until I can figure out which of my 5 mining pc's will run multiple grid seeds.

so far one mobo is fuck you I don want your stinking grid seeds.
one mob runs 1 and gag on  anymore then that and the Asrock runs the 8.

I did some reading without a USB hub you only have 8 total usb ports on the Asrock z77.

I am using a usb hub and at the 9th grid seed it is an f you

try the hub on usb 2.0 at the motherboard. i had a problem when i had my usb hub plugged in to usb 3.0. it did not see the gridseed. changed to a usb 2.0 on the board and it worked. unless your just saying the 9th gridseed is just dead.
no it works on a different mobo.  it just seems as if the as rock has a limit of 8 to be fair this mobo has been a coin work horse since aug 2012  always runs a gnu at some coin.  has run over 300 asic miner sticks  and more then 300 antminers along with red fury and ice fury sticks.  when I loaded the grid seeds my com numbers

are
 com679
 com680
 com681
 com682
 com683
 com684

today I loaded the last 3 and got
com685
com686
com687

the last one did not work. I moved all nine around and the last one did not work not subject to the grid seed but subject to the ninth one.

this mobo no longer loads ant miner u-1s  I know I have to reset all the com ports back to start just lazy. as this has a lot of other programs and I fear fucking them up if I reset all my com ports.
for now it is running on a different machine so no worries.

It is not likely your Mobo, I would bet money it is your USB hub and/or your USB hub configuration.

Hi Mike. I've been trying to get a hold of you since Monday about a set of 10 gridseed and boards that you sent out. You shipped very quickly, thank you. However, you promised during the purchase that you would walk me through setting them up. BTW, I paid an extra BTC more than most people you are selling these to.

I cannot find any information about how to use the board or the psu you sent. Since you won't answer my emails or voicemail, I plugged the board into my network, did a ip scan to find out what IP it was using and then used NMap to see what ports it was listening on, but nothing showed up. Please answer me. I have had 10 units sitting on my desk since Monday doing nothing.

If anyone else in the forums knows how to set up the boards that Zoom Hash is sending us, I would appreciate the help. It looks like an older Raspberry PI unit with an SDcard already plugged in there. It also came with a second board with 13 usb inputs, obviously for the gridseeds to plug into. However, I do not want to guess about splicing the psu to power the gridseeds and I have no idea how to access the main card. I manually tried telnet, http, and https in addition to the port scan and there was no response to anything. I would really like to get this going. This is a test order before I place more.

Order #1412

Thanks!
Michael

Hi Michael,

We just hired a dedicated tech support staff. He will be contacting you shortly to get you up and running. Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for the assistance! I did receive a call from Michael from Zoom Hash Friday evening and he took care of everything. A++ on service. My Gridseeds have been running perfectly ever since off of the included gridseed controller. Sorry it took me so long to update the post. I highly recommend Zoom Hash!

Oh, okay. Didn't quite get that part. I'm actually a fan of Nvidia before bitcoin existed. But at least I could use these AMD cards for other purposes: password cracking, etc.

Hmm, I wonder what kind of a card you can get for $150 Cheesy I would love to see that math.

Like the new NVidia 750Ti ...for example...350KH+ or so...

That's still 9 times more power consumption, not to mention you could only run 5 or 6 of them per motherboard unless you get pcie splitters (which cost more than a motherboard.)

Agree 101%...the ORIGINAL question was what GPU will $150 buy you... Wink

7870s and 7850s. they will give you about 300-330 KH/s and cost about $100-$150 if you wait for the deal.  I think I got mine for about $100.  Love those cards, not overheating, they run like a charm. There is a question of how many you can put into 1 box to achieve good hash-rate vs 7970/7950s, But I still like them, since 7970s seem to be generating so much heat its a hassle to deal with them.

Anyway, good luck with those asics. I can still add a lot of equipment in my house, so power consumption is not an issue for me.  Not that I think its worth investing into GPUs right now.  If you really want to invest into cryptos, why not just buy them out right, but I guess thats a different topic all together.

Hmm, I wonder what kind of a card you can get for $150 Cheesy I would love to see that math.

If you get lucky you can get a 7850 under 200 and it will hash a little better then the gridseed will.

130w vs 5w seems to be the difference. It's around $10 per month assuming 0.1USD per kW.

So the question is: in 7 months what would be the cost of 7850 and gridseed ? Cheesy. If you could sell 7850 for the same $200 you bought it for today and would sell gridseed for $130, then you would break even.

I think it will be moot. They both probably going to cost around same $100-ish.

So cost aside, scalability is the only remaining factor. Also in 7 months I can buy another 15x gridseeds for $100 a piece and simply add to the rig, while I can't add more 7850 without buying additional computers.

In the longer run, ASIC beats gfx no matter what the cost of initial investment. The time for gfx comes much faster when you have to stop mining. ASIC let's your rig run a few months longer.

As I said, I get the power and convenience part, but do not forget GPUs and computer equipment will always have some value, you can get 50%-70% back anytime.  Especially me, I never buy top of the line GPUs for $600, instead I get $100-$200 GPUs that give me 50% of top of the line, so your math is not really correct for. But that's not the point.  The point is I am buying a piece of hardware that is only good for 1 thing, mining. So if difficulty increases, those miners would just become useless, so if we look at risk/reward of getting PC hardware vs these miners, well it just doesn't cut it fore me. I'd rather have 20% additional cost of power with the flexibility to turn off my miners if I need to, knowing I can get 50-70% back for my equipment within next 1-2 years, then investing into something that can have 0 value if things change.  All I am saying specialized miners should be able to better compensate for the fact that they are completely useless outside of mining.  And current fact that I need to be able to run them for 7 month to get my money back kills this deal for me.

for me as I have pc's running with gpus and I have  antminer s-1's running.

I pull heavy duty power 4k  which while the house is wired for it.  In fact I can do 6k an hour for mining.

One of the joys of living in NJ  is you can legally wire you own home.  Just pull a permit from the town and have them inspect it when done.  So when I purchased my home back in 1992 it was built in 1970  and had aluminum wiring due to a copper shortage from the Vietnam war.

I knew I was going to rewire my house with all copper the day I purchased it.  I also know I was putting in 10 gauge and 20 amp plugs. I liked loud music at the time.  So my house has 200 amp service with a 40 breaker box.   I use 32 of the breakers and have the chance to really run hot gpus from Oct to April.  I then downsize by selling off the gpus.  this year I am increasing my hash by sell off gpus and replacing with gridseeds.

 3 of them = 1050      cost me 600 for 3

 1 r9 290x =880 khs    got 641 on a sale at the peak price

my cash gain = 41 bucks  I had power supplies and cables

 my kh gain = 170kh

I now use 30 watts not 240 watts.

I have 8 more gpus

If I offload 4 of them  I drop about a k watt If I add 12 more gridseeds I gain kh and lay out almost no cash.  This is an easy choice for me.
