~US$1tn in GDP growing at ~5% and accounting for half of Southeast Asia's digital economy, it's absolutely one of the most attractive places for investments, entrepreneurship and living

Nothing special about the economy. It is true that the GDP is around 1 trillion USD. But Singapore (which is having a population of around 2% of that of Indonesia) is having a GDP of $300 billion. So in terms of per capita GDP, Indonesia is ranked much lower when compared to its neighbors.

singapore has a miniscule 1.9% gdp growth rate though.

jakarta is a more apple-to-apple comparison to singapore though as they are both city-sized. GDP of jakarta is estimated to be around $321 billion, so still larger than singapore :p

I have never been there, and I think is really bad the minimum wage on that country being really low, great place to visit as a turist.

indonesia's minimum wage is not so bad, compared to its neighboring countries. believe it or not, malaysia's minimum wage (1000 MYR) is actually lower than jakarta's now.

you probably meant indonesian right? there are not that many indians living in indonesia (compared to, say, singapore).

Singapore and Malaysia are having sizable Indian minorities because Tamil laborers were imported to those counties during the British colonial rule. Indonesia was under the Dutch colonial rule and there was no need for importing laborers from elsewhere. Even then, you can find small Tamil minorities in cities such as Medan and Jakarta.

although Singapore itself is such a tiny country that absolute numbers wise I'd be extremely surprised if there were more Indians living there vs. Indonesia. Percentage wise maybe!

Well, it is true. Around 9% of the Singaporean population is of Indian origin, which amounts to approx. 350,000. On the other hand, there are around 120,000 people of Indian origin in Indonesia. (Please don't confuse Indonesian Hindus with Indians, as all of them are natives and not Indian immigrants).

which makes me wonder, why aren't there more indian people in indonesia? at least in bali...

true that. also don't forget the population: ~240 million, by far the largest in south east asia (+ australia + oceania), good demographics (large percentage in productive age range, demographic bonus in ~2025), improving education level, skills, and english proficiency.

Indonesia is my country, a unique country that has many islands with millions of differences. Millions of racial, ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity. Indonesia has the beauty of every island there.
But I think of the difference, Indonesia can unite it. Indonesia has a language of unity, Indonesians have a high solidarity mutual work in all things.

Indonesia is a good  place to visit. Your safe there as long you abide on there law. In term of place there are a lot of diverse places you can visit from the sea shore to the mountain you will amaze the beauty of nature.  The culture is also rich which still see the way of life of a indo/malay culture.

i see, that makes sense. in the cities that i live in (jakarta, bandung, other places in java) there are not that many. most are in the textile business (a few elite ones are in the media producing business).
