I don't use Instagram, but it's a big platform, so a ban like that would be a significant thing. But honestly, I can't find any reasonable confirmation of an official ban. The info about the ban seens to come from a post on Binance (which doesn't refer to any sources and is just a post by a user), and a short tweet which, once again, has zero sources to back it up.
Protection against crypto scams is important, and I think that the social media platforms need to do a better job at preventing scams from gaining a large audience, but as for Bitcoin discussions in general, that's a different thing, although Instagram doesn't feel like a great platform for such discussions to me, just as to some other people in this thread.
For now, the whole thing seems like misinformation.

This is shocking news for the Bitcoin banned by Instagram. From its platform, the conversation about Bitcoin and Bitcoin was hidden by Instagram. Until now, Instagram has not given an official statement about this, but there are several users who have started to be affected. Why do you think it is? Is it because Libra and Diem that the project failed or was it ordered by SC or the revenge of the Winklevos brothers who are rich from Bitcoin. Instagram is clearly a platform that does not support freedom of speech and only displays content according to the algorithm they want. What do you think guys ?
instagram is a part of meta and here most different celebrities post their pictures. Instagram is popular only for posting pictures. this is probably why Meta has banned Bitcoin related discussion posts from their Instagram platform. but Meta's other platforms like Facebook, Threads, WhatsApp have not banned cryptocurrencies yet. Meta owner Mark Zuckerberg himself supports Bitcoin so I'm still confused why he banned Bitcoin from Instagram. Maybe he doesn't want to put anything other than just a picture of a person there.

I don't want to care about Instagram's very cynical view of Bitcoin, Bitcoin is still Bitcoin even if Instagram doesn't support its existence. There is not much that the more dominant Platforms can do with images and videos that are very short in duration. I don't really like the Instagram service, so I haven't installed it until now. Bitcoin will continue to grow even if Instagram does not support its presence.

One thing have observe about social media facebook, Instagram, they always keep to their community rules and standards. People talking about scammers and how they have invested there bitcoin on an unreliable platform. So I believe the ban of cryptocurrency on Instagram is as a result of Scammers misleading people, newbie precisely. But with or without Instagram, bitcoin still gain ground. Besides I see no reason why people discuss bitcoin on Instagram, Instagram is a place where celebrity and people showcase there lives and have fun.

As I have been saying for a while, if you follow any kind of financial advice from instagram, facebook, twitter, reddit, this forum. You are an idiot and deserve to loose all your money.

There is no vetting, there is no accounting, there is no proof. And now, it's gotten so bad that corporations have to step in to police their users since people are loosing money and their lawyers and the government are looking for easy targets to blame. So they are cutting off everyone. It's easier then dealing with it on a case by case basis.

Instagram ban on Bitcoin may be motivated by the Libra Mark not being authorized or not running well. So Meta finally expressed his dislike for Bitcoin. But will this impact Bitcoin if Instagram makes room? I don't care about Instagram, that social media has lost its existence with the increasing popularity of other social media which are much freer regarding advances in digital asset technology, especially regarding Bitcoin adoption news, etc. Just think about what we should discuss on Instagram? and I prefer not to involve Bitcoin there. Bitcoin influencers still have topics they can discuss and the place is definitely not Instagram.

Any sources or, especially, the banned account in question?

The referred sources on the second post did not even mention which and who is getting banned. Another important thing is the content itself does not get any exposure. I know it's getting banned, but at least the author of the content should explain which kind of post it looks like.

One thing I am aware, Instagram has recently had some controversy, relating to wrongfully labelled translations, they may also wrongfully restrict some content here. If they have a policy regarding cryptocurrency-related restrictions, most companies in this sector should also get banned. Currently, it seems there isn't any.

Ehh whatever. It doesn't really make much sense to have Bitcoin discussion on Instagram — an image photo sharing platform. If I were to guess most of the Bitcoin-related posts there are scams anyway.
hahaha...as far as I'm concerned, Instagram doesn't have much influence on bitcoin, whether bitcoin is banned or not on that platform for viewing, in my opinion it won't be a problem and affect people's interest in bitcoin.

What most people know is that Instagram is a place for socialites and unclear video reels to relieve boredom, not a place for looking for information.
What is fraud? I have never experienced it, let alone heard that there is a lot of fraud related to bitcoin or individuals acting in the name of bitcoin on that platform. Huh

It's for influencers so they can talk picturesque photos without the worry that the quality will be diminished and your analogy is on point (have a cookie) plus the people that's promoting crypto on Instagram are probably scammers or influencers that are selling you courses you don't really need, if they say in their posts that they can make you rich the way that they made money by giving them a follow while leaning on that Lamborghini or sipping champagne on that private jet, they're going to sell you shit and that Lamborghini and private jet was rented and that champagne was probably the cheap kind you can buy from any liquor store. My point is there's nothing to worry about Instagram banning bitcoin in their platform, they're hurting the scammers and scummy crypto influencers anyway.

That's right, and I'm sure this step has been thought through carefully by Meta & Instagram. I'm sure there are many experts out there, especially in dealing with this matter, we know that the crypto realm is very easy to become a material for fraud, scams and various dirty business methods that only benefit one party. In my opinion, this is the right step and also supports Meta in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. And once again, Meta and Instagram are not targeting Bitcoin, they have projects and have their own targets for increasing their profits.

Why get affected on things doesn't much give direct effect to bitcoin? There's no huge market there so there's nothing to worry about that banning since people could just use different social media platforms if they want to discuss about bitcoin. And so far what are shared  are just scams just like other people says so just ignore that news and bitcoin is sustainable and it already have huge market.

Only few individual especially bitcoin users use instagram and I also don't have a account on that media platform so for sure bitcoin hodlers doesn't care about that news since you can see that it didn't create any huge noise to the crowd since many know that this is just manageable situation.

Doesn't matter if Instagram ban bitcoins or not, it will have no effect on bitcoin. Yes the platform that will ban the bitcoin will lose its user base and popularity but it is not harmful for bitcoin in any way.

Don't know if this news is authentic, but even if it is authentic, it will impact the Instagram and they will have to revert thier decision at some point later seeing the popularity of bitcoins.

It is these platforms that need to adopt Bitcoin, as bitcoin doesn't need these platforms to be popular.

It is not necessarily justified to lose user base and popularity when banning Bitcoin because Instagram is not a news platform, only a photo and video sharing platform even though there are crypto news sites that function to share content in the form of photos and videos via Instagram.

Data on active social media users globally as of July 2023.

Without Instagram, Bitcoin's popularity is already high and the majority are familiar with Bitcoin at various age levels because the global world has advanced its development and Bitcoin has become an innovation in the financial system.

From its platform, the conversation about Bitcoin and Bitcoin was hidden by Instagram.
Based on the image provided by one of the affected users on "this blog post", it appears to be a temporary ban [not sure if that's also the case with other users].

But what are they going to post on Instagram about wealth+bitcoin anyway? A picture of their hardware wallet? A screenshot of their wallet app balance? It doesn't make much sense. The only photo I could think of that someone might post are photos in a Bitcoin conference/meetup, and that's pretty much it.
I'm no longer one of its users, but I do know some of our members from the collectibles board use it for compiling/showcasing rare Bitcoin collectibles in order to expand their reach beyond this forum.

I don't use Instagram daily but only check it every few days. And I also don't know whether that is an official statement from Instagram or just fake news. I also don't think about it too much because it's not important to me.

Even if Instagram later bans Bitcoin, that's fine with me. Instagram is part of Facebook/Meta, and that may be Mark's hidden plan. But I don't know, that's just speculation.

And even if social media bans Bitcoin, that doesn't mean much for Bitcoin. Bitcoin will still have time to become more popular. They will only regret having banned Bitcoin.

Will the ban greatly impact Bitcoin users or holders? I think it has no impact at all because Instagram is just a social media platform that is used more towards showing off personal things, that's why many celebrities use it because they need to show off their wealth, activities and so on and Bitcoin doesn't need Instagram because if you want to make useful posts or discussing Bitcoin you can use other social media and Twitter is one that is often used unfortunately only to promote trash coins, and this forum is also a good place to discuss about Bitcoin.

People with Instagram accounts could make a test. For instance, to change their profile pictures to a picture related to Bitcoin to see if there is any censorship on the images. Or upload Bitcoin images to their profiles/feeds/whatever is called!

However, we need further information regarding what happened, and I hope there is further information from Instagram, so that we can ascertain what Instagram's intention and purpose is for doing this. If someone says they don't care about this information, we still need to share the information and know it for future knowledge. I will keep update information regarding this.

What do you think guys ?

I don't think this news is shocking because I don't use Instagram and it won't have any impact on bitcoin. I still remember many years ago, Google, Facebook and many other platforms also banned bitcoin and ads related to bitcoin and cryptocurrency. But what's happening so far? They are harming themselves, and they cannot cause any harm to bitcoin. Furthermore, I think no bitcoin and cryptocurrency investors use that social media platform to discuss bitcoin. Nothing but selfies and brags of young people.

I've been seeing this for quite some time now and it seems like the problem is only a small part of the European consumer group BEUC has filed complaints with the European commission and consumer protection agencies , alleges that these online platforms facilitate inaccurate promotions of crypto assets. In fact, it is understandable that some social networking platforms are abused so much with fraudulent activities that a ban is okay. And furthermore, what the OP thinks is important is not anything to worry about, remember those social networks may need Bitcoin but Bitcoin does not need their acceptance alone to grow.

The debate about the balance between freedom of expression and protecting users from potential dangers in the cryptocurrency space is still ongoing Smiley , Instagram is not the only platform under pressure to control. According to Reuters Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter target of EU crypto advertising complaint

If this is true, they are obviously making some cryptocurrencies that will make bitcoins their competitors and they make everything possible to defeat it by not allowing it to be mentioned on Instagram. I wonder where will they gonna push this because they cannot just do it like that because we all know that Bitcoin is way more popular than Instagram and it won't be affected by their sudden negative decisions against it.

In my opinion, Instagram is not very popular among crypto users. Instagram is still under one roof on Meta. Instagram's focus is on social media which is full of endorsements, a place for the world of advertising and flexing. Bitcoin doesn't need that. Do you know why cars like Ferrari and Lamborghini never appear in TV advertisements? Because they know TV viewers will not be able to buy such classy, quality, luxurious and expensive cars. You know the conclusion, right?
It's for influencers so they can talk picturesque photos without the worry that the quality will be diminished and your analogy is on point (have a cookie) plus the people that's promoting crypto on Instagram are probably scammers or influencers that are selling you courses you don't really need, if they say in their posts that they can make you rich the way that they made money by giving them a follow while leaning on that Lamborghini or sipping champagne on that private jet, they're going to sell you shit and that Lamborghini and private jet was rented and that champagne was probably the cheap kind you can buy from any liquor store.
