As Paxum is out they do need to update all their account withdrawals/deposits pages to reflect this & also they never did let me know when I might be able to withdraw my GBP funds the same day as requested if I so required, just a lame notification on the page that these things will be handled if & when their bank Lloyds starts to process their Internet banking again if ever - sorry that is not good enough when you are effectively locking down thousands in client's funds & so it certainly is not what I'd call a professional service, but hey it's Bitcoinron world & I still loves them  Kiss  for what they've done & are trying to achieve for BTC  Smiley

There is now a status board on the support page.

Used intersango twice (SEPA user) and my withdraws were both "lost".
Contacted them using support and got them (the first one in the next day).
On both i had to re submit the withdraw orders, but it worked quite well. As soon as i have more ( more tha n 0,001 BTC) i'll try it again. Lets see if for the first i get my withdraw without any delay on submitting Tongue

But i have to say that it works.

I've used them a lot & they certainly are convenient for UK Internet banking transfers when their UK banksters don't suddenly pull the rug out from under them that happens regularly & repeatedly, there are some amazing arb ops sometimes too, though I'm sad no-one has yet picked up my offer of 1,125 BTC @ £2.6999 = $4.2354 from earlier today (still live btw, if any Brits fancy a panic sell - wakey backie TSR users yes I'm lO_Oking @ you, please step up, ZOMG tomorrow all ur BTC will be worth nada)

Did you know:
USA customers can send a direct deposit ACH transfer into Intersango, without going through Dwolla!

oooo! Now that is tempting...

I believe Intersango is the best kept secret in Bitcoin!

Did you know:

USA customers can send a direct deposit ACH transfer into Intersango, without going through Dwolla!
SEPA transfers to the Eurozone are fully operational and reliable!

what other gems am i missing?

I use these guys regularly and they are good.  Their US order book needs to fill up though!

(Also: why not add live arbitrage calculation between your supported currencies? How's that for a USP?)

Or maintain a single order book across all currencies. You could do back end currency hedging to effectively denominate all of the trades in the currency of your choice. That would be very cool.

Plus you could add BTC trading with any Forex currency.

Don't want to threadshit, but I do want to point out that Intersango lost 512 (or was it 511) BTC to a bug once (I don't think it was an intentional exploit).  However, this pales in comparison to the other exchanges' security problems...

+1

Especially as no userfunds were affected in any way. And to top it off they were running at 0 fees at the time. Plus the asshat who refused to return the coins is going to court.  Grin

I'd like to see stop-loss, an improved UI (a bit of AJAX would go down a treat; and please reduce the forced width, it doesn't need to be so wide ("width:650px" everywhere in your CSS is the culprit I reckon)), volume discounts, and support for prepared orders.  And to be honest, some way of supporting fast transfer of funds to Bitcoinica would be useful (I can use a MTGOX code to get coins into Bitcoinica within seconds).

Most important though: a live view of the order book and trade data.  Given how appalling mtgoxlive is (why does my phone/browser grind to a halt when nothing is happening?) it wouldn't be hard to kick it to the curb.

You could chuck clark moody a few bitcoins and get him to support Intersango as a quick way to get up and running.

I've been trading on your GBP, EUR & USD markets for a while now and have been very happy with it.

The GBP market is quite liquid, and I would love to see more volume on the USD market!

What with Trade Hill closing and this instance those unaware should check out Intersango.com.

We don't advertise much but we are one of the biggest exchanges. We are the 2nd longest running exchange. The longest running exchange not to have been compromised. We have never suffered a hack and we are the only bitcoin exchange owned and operated by core bitcoin developers. We have the most competitive rates especially once considering transfer costs to and from Intersango.com

We operate with honesty, and have absolutely no hidden fees. Our long history confirms this time and time again.

We also have always had excellent and fast support!

EDIT: I mention this mostly due to the fact that Patrick Strateman (known on these forums and IRC as phantomcircuit) has repeatedly found security vulnerabilities like the above mentioned. Having strong developers and security specialists does make a huge difference. The whole reason we created Intersango was because we realized this was Bitcoins biggest problem, reliable exchanges.

We do accept Dwolla. Paxum has just recently discontinued with all Bitcoin related activity but I don't believe any exchange has lost any funds due to Paxum. We are primarily located in the UK but we have never had problems with our US banking.

We have been pretty compliant with regulations and in a preventative way. Some regulations are completely non-intuitive and when regulations are based off past events instead of around a sound theory or concept, it can get pretty messy. Patrick deals with the regulatory aspects with regards to the US and would be able to answer such questions in great detail.

You can also email us at [email protected] for such inquiries.
