Hello all,

I've just bought some bitcoin yesterday at the "high price" of £52 a BTC. I looked into it months ago but never took the leap. I know the current price is considered high and ecomomists consider it a "bubble" but do not underestimate the implications this currency could have on global accounting framework, and the potential advantages to global businesses now operating in a global marketplace.

There are also advantages to be had by the general layman who will ultimately decide the fate of Bitcoin. The current resentment towards banks, along with the fact that mobile phone payments are becoming widely used, (and will be pushed by phone manufacturers), will only strengthen the currency.

When the general layman is on board with bitcoin, that's when you will see the currency reach a real high price!

Hey there!
bought my first bitcoins at $16.
Wish I had bought more!!
I'm pretty excited about how world changing bitcoin can be.
I think this current media exposure wave is really exciting, but I think it will still be years before bitcoin is really mainstream.
I think many people have a hard time understanding bitcoin and they misunderstand the current high price.  I think of it like this, the exchange rate is almost totally irrelevant. Sure, it's exciting to the speculators, but every day there are new people coming to bitcoin, and they have no idea of the price history. They just know they need some bitcoin to do whatever it is they want to do, and they buy how much they need.  Who cares if a bitcoin is $100 or $1?  If I need it to send $1000 across a border, or to buy something, I'll just buy the appropriate amount.  It's like when you go to a foreign country on vacation, you just convert your dollars to the local currency regardless of the exchange rate. And, if more and more people are entering into bitcoin every day, as is obvious (even if SR is a major factor, what does it matter what the market is, as long as it is real) then the exchange rate will drift up.
Exciting times!

Figured I'd say hello to try to get my post count up.  Been watching the forums for months, decided to finally make an account so I can weigh in on some of the discussions.  Hold a relatively small amount of BTC, but enough to make it a fun ride one way or the other.  It's my hope that I will never have to convert my holdings into fiat, in a few years I should be able to pay for any services or goods with BTC. (optimistic outlook from a pessimistic person)

Hi Bitcoiners,
I am writing you from the disappearing Amazon rain forest. I am a "bit" late to the bitcoin scene but have only good things to say about the concept and community. BTW I work in sustainable aggro-forestry myself and do community based projects in the Brazilian Amazon. Unfortunately our region is one of the most corrupt in Brazil and that makes funding projects almost impossible. For this reason I think that bitcoins could be the solution. I hope that our lerned community can help us with some creative ideas as there are some great minds here.

looking forward to feedback Smiley

Hi, Albert here. I think bitcoin will be the new currency, so I've got no plans to cash-in. Unfortunately I was there only after the hype, let's see where it leads!

Hey! Finally decided to make an account on here and get into the real discussion! I'm part of a small group of friends that have been slowly investing more and more into bitcoins over the last ~2 years. It really does seem to be the way of the future and I hope to see some real profits this week with Cyprus!
Good luck to all of you!
