Hi folks,

So I've finally got around to joining. I guess that makes me a newbie here but I've been reading through the posts here for around the last 18 months and was gpu mining for a while last year (until I moved and found myself without space to do so).

Main thing that finally prompted me to join is the recent GLBSE drama as I have a few assets there and am trying to figure out what's going on and whether I've lost my coins. I think I've read through most of the related threads, including updates from both gigamining and bitbond (which has thankfully made me a little more confident that all is not lost as these 2 are where most of my investments are). I also had a small amount of rareearth bonds but haven't found much about them on the forums so if anyone can point me in the right direction there it would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Relish

p.s. I picked my username on a total whim and it's simply a play on the word decentralist and the fact I like chutney Wink

Hi My name is rob i'm from amsterdam holland i've been follwing bitcoin for about 3 or for day just looking at different things wondering what it is all about i'm in it for supporting an alternative currency that could possibly save the planet as we know it . . i think we need a free currency that is decentralized cannot be manipulated by governments or so called elites to bring countries and people to its knees and to financially  enslave them. . that's what i am in it for if i can make money at the same time then it's just win win ( not that im not already doing other things beside employing bit coin ) . . an investmend advice i once read was " invest in something that you love and you'll never lose. . i love this planet and it's people and the many freedoms that still we do have . . yeh i mean that  .. because in relation to if and when . . the world bankers do fully take over ,  what we still have now, would be paradise,  compared to that. .

As max keizer said  .. this is the currency of the resistance . . I'm not in it for illegal activity i'm in it for the financial freedom on this planet and freedom from financial slavery. . and take the power away from the financial psychotic criminals in charge today .. .. I see bitcoin as the good for all humanity i think this should be our main focus and should be our main purpose ..

Newb miner trying to find some help/advice on GPU overclocking and mining. Would also really like to set up a personal pool.

^ There's some system info on my cards and what I've done on my own. I know this machine could do some decent mining, I'm just no good with voltages and hardware.

Nice to be here. Smiley Hope to find some good guidance.

Hello, everyone. I'm Warren, and I've been GPU mining for months with my crappy NVidia 9600 GS and I've yet to get a bitcoin. I've got about .10 BTC so far, using Slush's pool on mining.bitcoin.cz. Oh well, I'm trying. I may move up to an ATI card if funds allow. I do like the decentralized nature of bitcoins and that's why I'm trying to mine them. The dollar is on it's way out and I don't want to be left penniless.

Nice to meet you all.

Hi, I'm skeer. I like to make computer games in my free time  Smiley. I know C++, Java, JavaScript, and a little Action Script 3. If anyone needs me to make them some software, I'm willing to work for a reasonable price (as long as it's ethical).

I've been a lurker for bitcoins over a year now. Been interested in investing money and gaining assets but I missed the stock market bubble of the 90's, Gold boom of early 2000's, and still don't trust the stock market from all this debt rolling around.

But I do have faith in bitcoins to continue gaining value, especially as they begin to go mainstream.

Hey guys, joined today because I'm having issues with my wallet and syncing it, and I currently have bitcoins I haven't received in it but have been sent to me... Wanting to access the technical support here so I don't mess anything up and lose like 4 BTC :S

I am having this same problem. I have been running the Bitcoin client for many hours now and it just seems to be eternally synchronizing, stuck at about 75% of the progress bar. I tried to send myself some bitcoins via Daily Bitcoins, but the transaction still has not appeared in the Bitcoin-Qt application's "Transactions" tab. Do I need to wait until it finishes synchronizing before making transactions? How long should synchronizing normally take? How do I make it synchronize faster?
