whats up? im mike, just got involved with the whole bitcoin thing a few days ago. i have gui miner set up on 3 computers running between 500 and 1000 khash/s on cpu's. its an absolute waste of electricity but im so intrigued by it so im still running them. i think i have made like 4 cents in 2 days...?? anyways i hope to be getting a pci-e ati 5850 gpu some day and getting mabe 400-500 mhash/s. until then if any one with a rig wants to help me out i wont mind!!

start up your gui miner or command line based one if that's what u use.

server BTC guild any
username mike9013x_publichelper1

START MINING

ide be ultra curious  to see what a decent graphics card could do so i can base a solid decision off of real world tests.
i figure for the price the ati 5850 single card would work well.

also I have a question that may have an answer.

how can you use a bunch of servers (for free) to cpu mine for bit coin? specifically ones you don't own exactly. average cpu 500 khash/s times hundreds of servers/computers/gpus = $$$bitcoin$$$. im not a super hacker so.....any ideas?

any android apps for mining? arm processor could make use of its idle time.

a little about me, i do pc repair on craigslist. i belive in not screwing people over like most all shops will do.

link to my ad   if u are curious    https://post.craigslist.org/manage/3298726374

i need to update my ad because i decided that i will start accepting bitcoin for remote services. if you need a tune up, anything like that shoot me a message. i can do windows and linux machines.

here is my wallet address 1PrFWR3YkKv5wsNjk9dpBWughzAVSXt7Xm for remote services payment or a donation to the start up my mine foundation.

that's about it.  Wink

all input is welcome

Hey guys. I had never heard of bitcoins until a few days ago. I have to admit that I am completely sold on the idea and think that it has strong potential to bring major changes to our current economic system. I am glad to see there is a strong forum/community at the core of this movement. Free flowing ideas can turn many small streams into a great river. I'm sure you will see much more of me as I will do as much as I can to further the progress and expansion of bitcoins.

Heyy I'm Danny Smiley

I've been a silent follower for some weeks, digging up info and intel about Bitcoin. Been mining with 2x7970 for some time and got me some coins as well.

Am in pursuit of knowledge regarding pools, the protocol etc and might end up writing software based on that.

Long time miner, just never bothered to post.

In response to brutchell, ...
I see it more as a means towards speculation, where your "investing" in the concept of bitcoins. . .

Take baby steps and test and research everything first.

Thanks for the reply.
I am, actually, viewing it as a possible venue for speculation but more so as a ends-to-a-means, if you will, in my efforts to better understand this brave new world. Getting up to speed in the market has--so far--introduced me to Tor and the hidden web; encryption; emerging concepts regarding eCommerce and finances; and of course privacy issues. I'm also developing my understanding and facility with eMail clients, certificates, browsers, and the like.

It's a form of continuing education whose ultimate payoff is uncertain. Always good to fatten my skill-set though and keep my eyes peeled for opportunities.
Thanks again and hello to all newcomers.
