Hey people!

I've been lurking on here for about half a year or so, but I've just decided to get posting and what not.

I own a couple of bitcoins and have tried (and failed) to speculate on the market correctly. =P

I'm either a not-yet wildly-successful entrepreneur or a slacker lay-about depending on who you ask. My brother-in-law has money on the latter.

I'm smarter than the average bear. But so are 50% of bears and up to 60% of humans with internet access.

I am attracted to the philosophical freedoms bitcoin represents. Having some money launderers and crooks sniffing around is the cost of those freedoms.

I'm about to build a test rig using 2x5970's and will see if I'm any good at system building and configuration.

At current prices of BTC and electricity downunder, it makes more sense to buy BTC at an exchange for now. However I have some mates who work in photovoltaic research, which may make this a viable output of their renewable energy experiments. Of course it depends on what the grid pays for electricity.

hello. bitcoin new-comer getting my feet wet. just bought my first batch of bitcoins right below $5. unfotunetely i cannot spend these bitcoins until my account is verified but i will enjoy watching the market price.

so did the creator of bitcoin get dirty-rich?

This is unknown. We know he mined the first 50,000 bitcoins and that they weren't spend yet, but he ofcourse could've mined more and sold those.

Howdy everyone...

This would be my 2nd post, first was to respond to a post about a problem with a miner.  Found out about bitcoin say 5 months ago, looked into it a bit but ignored it afterwards.  In the past few weeks bitcoin has picked up my interests again along with the alternates.

Full time employed doing Windows server support for various companies during the day, playing around with whatever software, hardware or technology that I find interesting at night.  If I can find a decent server with a decent internet connection I might setup something bitcoin related but for now I'm playing around with my home servers and internet connection.

Have a couple machines mining part time but have yet to receive my first full bitcoin.  I've got about .5 bitcoins now.  I got lucky with litecoin (I think) receiving 50 ltc the 2nd night running the client with the built-in miner.  Holding on to them until I find decide what to do with them.  Smiley

That's about it for me.  Just looking for ways to get my 5 posts in the noob area so I can reply on the threads I want to reply to.

Morning everyone,

Elrodvoss here.

Have been interested in bitcoin since I heard about it some 6 months ago.  Have been using my XFX 550 TI to mine but at 32 mhash/s its painfully slow.  I have ordered up a Sapphire 5850 to add in my system.  Have plans for a mining rigs and working on "case" setup to support the cards with risers.

I have a basic knowledge of bit mining, but  still have alot to learn.  Have to learn to use Linux to run the other rigs and properly set up everything and not blow circuit breakers in the process.  This will all be questions that I will ask through out my time here.

I thank you for your future help and support.

Greetings fellow Newbies...

Been lurking for several months so have a decent idea of the backgrounds/positions of most of the more frequent posters.  Willing to wear diapers in public for a while to gain access to the other sections Embarrassed

By day, and for the last 13 years, I've been a software engineer at a network equipment vendor in San Jose with specialties in IP multicast and BGP.  By night, am a Perl hacker and jazz guitarist.

Introduced to bitcoins late (in August).  Bought some @ around 14.  Chased the falling knife by doubling down with every large slide until 2.  Roll Eyes  Finally broke even (actually a tiny $103 profit) in the latest run to 5.  So for me, trading bitcoin was purely out of necessity.

Now, with a clean slate (zero bitcoins, fiat on the sidelines @ Mt. Gox) I'm waiting to get back in, but as a long-term holder and maybe as an actual USER of bitcoin; assuming it stabilizes enough to serve as a legitimate currency over the next few years.
