I have paid fees for all transactions smaller than 0.25, but not for 0.25 or higher. Not sure if it'll be always like that or not, though. There is much more information about fees in other threads.
It's not. I've just paid a fee for a Bitcoin 0.25 transaction.

I see that I can generate just a few coins a week with my (so far) unlocked and un-oc'd cards. At least electricity is cheap where I live at 6.5 US cents per kwh.
So far this has been a fun project.

For some reason the time I've been logged in keeps stopping.
For some reason the time I've been logged in keeps stopping.I think it only counts active time. So, if you leave the site open but do nothing, it doesn't count. ;y total time logged in counts 1 day and 2 hours, and I've had it open for weeks already.
I have bought some equipment to make a small mining rig and currently am running at about 1 G/Hash.
I have a unique idea that would be very profitable for a small number of people that could be involved, however it would require some trust which seems to be in short supply here.
I am going to make a post in the newbies section and hopefully if there is enough interest then it could be moved over to mining.

I see, thanks. I read up on bitcoin a couple of months ago but only now am I getting time to try it out. I seem to remember reading that there was other software available that you could use to send coins. Could be wrong. Just wondering if that would let you send it without fees and what would happen. Probably wouldn't use it even if possible, unless I literally couldn't afford the fee. Anyway, like you suggested, I'll look around some other threads. Thanks for your help
There might be other alternative clients to the official one, but I doubt they'll allow you to send transactions without a fee if the protocol says there is a fee. You are about to be free from the Newbie's zone, so you'll be able to post in other forums and not just look.

The normal bitcoin software tries to force you to pay txn fees for certain payments. I mostly have no problem with these, they are very reasonable at the moment. More out of interest, is there a way to send these certain payments without the txn fee, with the normal software or with other software?? If so, what are the consequences? Thanks.

If someone makes public an address, like so 1829ksL4bNaN5w4uFFbVmsUQY7xAucyRQJ, can anyone do bad stuff to you? I've seen a few posted with people asking for donations, so I'm guessing not, but I want to be sure before I put a business idea into practice. That address belongs to me but its on a spare computer I have, so if the answer to my question is yes and someone is going to try, feel free

No, they can't harm you by knowing one of your receiving addresses. They could send you coins. :-)
Or they could check the trasactions for that particular address. You can do it yourself here: http://blockexplorer.sytes.net/. Good luck with your business idea.
