That is true. Which is the specific thread I am supposed to post my questions, relating the web app, as a Windows user? I can't find.
I think this one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/introducing-hive-web-a-mobile-web-wallet-supporting-litecoin-and-bitcoin-663832

By the way, your 12-word seed uses the same dictionary as Electrum? Is your iOS/Web app based in any way, shape or form on Electrum?
To be honest I have no idea, I haven't worked on the web wallet... And no, it's not based on Electrum, it uses a JavaScript library bitcoinjs. (Electrum doesn't even use BIP32, it uses a different, older format that I think was the inspiration for writing BIP32.)

If I understand things correctly:

Do I only need my wallet seed (12 words) to recover my funds (and addresses; there is currently one address in the Hive wallet but I guess more will be added) from 3rd party sources, or do I need the actual address or addresses as well?
I think you're confusing two versions of Hive, which are really completely independent and incompatible.

Hive Mac (which this thread is about) has (for now) no 12-word seed and has only one address, and to restore the funds later you need at least one backup, e.g. in Dropbox or Time Machine (technically it doesn't have to be recent, though with an old backup you'll lose some transaction metadata).

Hive Web/iOS has a 12-word seed phrase and auto-generates a new address automatically from the seed for every transaction. To back it up you only need the phrase and that is enough to restore the funds and all previously used addresses.

How can I access my bitcoins in the rare case you Hive folks are all kidnapped, an atoimic bomb is thrown on you or shut down? Or something like this; you get the idea.
There's a pretty good explanation here: https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/29964/what-happens-if-hive-web-shuts-down

Hi,

I am on Windows and use the web version. I know my pin, my single address given and my 12 word seed.

How can I access my bitcoins in the rare case you Hive folks are all kidnapped, an atoimic bomb is thrown on you or shut down? Or something like this; you get the idea.

Quote:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Private_key
"In contrast, bitcoind provides a facility to import a private key without creating a sweep transaction. This is considered very dangerous, and not intended to be used even by power users or experts except in very specific cases. Bitcoins can be easily stolen at any time, from a wallet which has imported an untrusted or otherwise insecure private key - this can include private keys generated offline and never seen by someone else."

Please explain in a newbie friendly way!

yes
Definitely a good thing to add Mooncoin. Stable, almost done with the larger part of the issue process and ideal for microtransactions. And a good name too.

Very beautiful app!
you can develop the same app for other cryptocurrency?
Hive Web is built to support *any* cryptocurrencies. Right now it supports Bitcoin and Litecoin, but more are coming soon. You can suggest new ones here: https://github.com/hivewallet/discussions/issues/22

Now that the Trezor hardware has officially been released, do you plan on adding support for it in Hive in the near future?
Definitely at some point in the future, but probably not soon...

OK cool that is very interesting. Thanks for the update and again thanks for your work on this. Perhaps I will suggest that the user I am helping with this wallet donate a (small) amount of BTC to you guys to help with the project and to act as a test send for him, do you have a public donate address?

The donation address for Hive for OS X (Hive for Mac) specifically is 1wdERgJVZhqeUVTWGmZqdorLGtFVzF1xy
