I think playing it safe is almost always advantageous but of course, it all depends on your situation. If you have some extra cash you'd be fine without right now, I say go for it and invest.
I think for me always be prepared all the time, you must have patience in investing and there still a plenty of time to wait until all will dumps.

I missed the dip the other day and am wondering if I should hold out for another dip or if the current prices are still decent. Mainly looking at litecoin and etherum. I also need coins regardless so I can exchange for other altcoins.

Invest our wait, It depends on the coin that you're eyeing to invest because as an investor we don't just select a coin without even putting some effort on research to avoid scam and loss.

now is a perfect time to invest in altcoins now, their price is low and if you continue to wait, the price can rise tomorrow, believe in your decision
I don't think altcoins price are low.To the contrast, most altcoins are overvalued to be honest.
My prediction is that there will be some major correction very soon.

Don't wait for right time to invest and do research properly and immediately and try to invest in best and you will see your money to become big.
I suggest you to invest now and you can buy in whatever you like and hold it for a short term investment especially in ethereum and litecoin because, these two coins has good potential right now that continue to rising and I'm sure it has a future even in a short period of time.

It is impossible to guess when to buy, and when not! This, yes, is a matter of chance and time. Lucky luck, 50/50! But if you do not take risks and do not make a profit, you can buy and wait a month or two and look at the stock exchange. And then decide whether to sell or not!
I think the market is still going up quickly. Maybe 2018 will be the biggest year of crypto ever 
2018 is the year of Crypto-Currencies because Ethereum, Ripple and other top Altcoins are having good results this year. Bitcoin's year is 2017 and I don't see it will grow that far like it does last year and I think this year is in favor for Altcoins.

The formula of better trading is buy low - sell high and that's what them more effective traders because nobody wants to lose, in most cases that will do but not all the time because some coins aren't dumping all the time but instead they are actually mooning like what Oyster PRL had last first week of the year. A friend of mine sell his PRL while it was $0.85 and he's planning to make a trade if it gone down a little bit but it didn't actually dipping back down but instead it goes to the top as high as $4, so this kind of circumstance was unpredictable and will educate traders into tight monitoring before hitting buy and sell buttons.
Do it right now and don't wait. The market is rising and more and mor people are in ao the earlier the better. You may make some money if you are early enough.
