You can also use this seed generator if you like: https://knarz.github.io/seedgen/ Replace some letters afterwards if you like or if you don't trust it.

I downloaded and installed the GUI lite wallet but, what's next? I assume I have to generate a seed somehow? Can't seem to find further instructions...

Connect to a server. Take a piece of paper and a pen and write down a seed, consisting of 81 chars (A-Z + 9). These seed is your password. Enter the seed and create an address. Now you can access to your addresses from every devices. The only thing you need is your seed. Try it out with a small amount of your IOTA`s.

Yes, you need to create your own seed. You can get some info about seed here - http://learn.iota.org/faqs

Thanks to all of you for the replies.
I found this link: https://github.com/iotaledger/wallet/releases
I downloaded the zip version but no longer know how to proceed. Is there another more friendly reference link?

Thanks, mate.
However, maybe an update of the O.P to make it clearer and complete to new investors would be helpful. The more things are explained in a simple way, the more people will be interested by this great project.

You welcome. Yes, there is a lot of work to do to become mainstream. But remember, IOTA is still in beta stage. The IOTA foundation and not least the whole community is doing a really good job to make these technology great. Give it some time.

IOTA's application is a powerful, direct and changing social application form, and the Internet of things will revolutionize people's habits.

i heard iota last night, its one of the highest growth altcoin, why do i see it on many exchange rarely

Because IOTA uses the tangle and not a blockchain. It isn't so easy to implement. I think most exchanges working on it and will implement it soon

best coin after ethereum
why?
i just dont trust any coin w/o seeing who is involved. why doesnt iota reveal its team members? all the best promising ones do that. at least thats how i determine the real ones to the sketchy ones.

IOTA price is on the move after the correction. Looks very promising from TA perspective and fundamentals are great. Of course, like always there is a possibility things can fail. This is not an investment advice.

Has any manual claim been processed?  If you got contacted by David, pls tell us so we know where we are at. No manual claims, no exchanges, easy.
I have the same question. Can we get an official public response from the Iota team on the status of the manual claim processing?

Hey Jean-Luc, long time...

We have given 'official responses' to this endless times. Everyone (that claims) will have their tokens before exchange listing and before 'expiration date of July 11th'. This has been repeated on every communication platform of ours ad nauseam.

It's not our fault that people such as yourself did not care enough about the project to claim within months.

I have made a manual claim before July 11th' (email sent to david in june) but my balance is still 0. What is the reason for that ?

Hi guys, I was thinking to invest in Iota but I have some dubt about the storage. Please, could you explain me like you would to explain to a child how and where to store this coin?
Thanks a lot in advance

you can buy this token @bitfinex with btc/eth.
and from bitfinex you can transfer it to the iota's lite wallet.
both works fine!

Pairs in Bitfinex are IOTA/BTC, IOTA/ETH and IOTA/USD

Well, the unique link from you to your coins is a 81 char password formed of CAPS letters A-Z and number 9. If you are able to generate it and remember it then you can access your coins from any device.
