I would say that forcing everyone to audit everyone's transaction becomes impractical if the network grows sufficiently large. It is necissary than that people form large enough consensus clusters so that their consensus be trustworthy to outsiders and than audit only a fraction of the network. Further it is ideal that there be as much overlap in consensus actors as possible. Such that each individual transaction will have its own unique cluster of consensus around it. This is what iota does. Never mind petty debates on things like block size, that was a band aid at best, this is the necessary step forward for scaling.

True but if you want more security and more decentralization with no reliance on fees plus scalability issues being non existent and not wait 10 mins to buy some candy, take a look at this new technology.

Aka- you can communicate around the world with a telegraph but full HD video conferencing over a fiber optic network would be a more beneficial in most scenarios.

Yes, probably somehow download 1.0.5 blanco and combine it with a 1.0.4 with GUI. But quite uncomfortable to do.
No wonder we are struggeling to increase the user-base or getting close to the 1 mio transactions.

You can download 1.0.5 and simply rename it to iri.jar then replace the iri.jar in 1.0.4 GUI version and you have your own latest gui. it is working for me.

The directory for that is a little different to the tangle (transaction) files.
C:\Users\ name \AppData\Local\Programs\IOTA Wallet\resources\IRI

it will not show 1.0.5 in Client background but you can see it in Tools>Show node info>appVersion 1.0.5
