Can Iota addresses be 90-char long?

Yes. The GUI adds a checksum to the 'naked' address, I think the first nine trytes of the address hash, that's why they are not 81, but 90 chars long in the GUI

Thanks, the valid format is 81 or 90 chars, uppercase letters and 9's. Is that right?

Yes, 81 chars if sending from console or nostalgia, and 90 chars if sending from GUI.
If you generated a 81 char address previously: You can also calculate the checksum in the GUI and append it to a 81 char address, to make it 90 char long.
Why are you asking?

What should be the valid format for Iota addresses? Some user has sent a 90-char address in the NXT encrypted message for exchange and transfer of iota went through to that address without a hitch.

why do we need a foundation for the big deal?

If any company is interested, it can and should invest itself and not the community - do I miss something here?!

"Big Deal" is a deal with Nintendo to integrate IOTA into Pokemon Go.

 Shocked Shocked  Are you serious???

What would you consider "big"?

Get some Iota to play with.
https://nxtforum.org/index.php?topic=10569.msg222140#msg222140

Send 1 NXT to NXT-HCFF-6CFZ-QL6D-7LFQ2
Click on 'Add a Message', put your Iota address in the message field, keep the Encrypt Message box checked. This is it, dispatch it and you will receive 100,000 Iota for each 1 NXT you send.

This is automatic, but because the tangle is not always solid, sometimes semi-automatic. Delivery time of Iota 1-24 hours.

and here is how you can receive some NXT in order to get Iota Smiley

Btw, what's the current P2P trading price?

Let me ask this, it sounds obvious, but the answer may surprise us. Will the foundation release the identity of the big dealer after the goal reached??? What if they are not "big" enough, or....

Compared to ethereum...
1. I don't think eth is successful in Asia, especially China.
2. If you consider eth is successful in Asia for some reasons, I dont see one or two parties can be considered key players, except the dev team. Anyone else have some candidate?

I start worrying that David might be scammed or bluffed by the so called "big player(s)". Exchange like btc38, 796, yunbi, yuanbaohui? Or OKcoin, Huobi? I trust David's judgement, but you know, he can't hear any feedback because of NDA, nobody here can know who they are. And he might, just might, make mistakes in a critical position that want to make IOTA successful.

Very well articulated. This is a legitimate and pressing concern, among other current developments.

The proceeds from Big Deal will go to Foundation

[8:52]
But Big Deal is called a 'Big Deal' for a reason

[8:53]
it's what made Ethereum succeed in Asia

CMON everybody, donate here to the big deal: http://bigdeal.iotatoken.com/

When installing IOTA on Windows 8.1, windows cannot install and automatically deletes the installer.

Any thoughts?

I am on a windows 8 computer now.

I have downloaded the Iota Client. Do I put in the password or seed I made many months ago to claim the iota? When I got a iota address? Or do we have to claim again on the GUI? Do I make a new seed. As you can see I'm a little confused, but I can get a grasp rather quickly here. The GUI installed basically by itself so that was a relief because I am not tech saavy at all but can figure things out.

Am I in the bunch that has to contact David?

Thanks for the support to everyone who can help me through this. So far the help has got me the GUI installed, got me onto a compatible computer, and got me to read a tutorial and some posts on the iota forum. This is where these questions have come from.

Where does the iota address and password I already made for it fit into the picture is where Im lost I guess

I don't believe windows vista is supported. Windows 7 is minimum (for this exe). I could be wrong, try it and report back. You can still run it manually via the JAR and in the browser, of course.
