I think IOTA still need to provide a simpler illustration of how the Tangle really works, the past set of illustrations are not so satisfying. It looks just like blockchain for now, still yet to see what differentiates it from blockchain from the illustrations and videos, apart from word on paper.

Good morning,

I am searching for the following “token distribution” data:

Initial number of tokens: token distributed straight after the ICO? I found the number 999,999,999... is that correct? Or was it just proposed number and final number is higher?

Circulating: token in circulation now? Can I rely on data from CMC? In many cases number from there differs from official source once I contact them directly.

Total: total amount of token (maximum supply - burnt tokens)? Is following correct... 2779530283277761?

Also, can you please advise how much money in USD was raised during crowdsale?

I looked all over internet and your official channels to find those stats but it doesnt seem to be out there.

Many thanks,
Pete

2,779,530,283,277,761 IOTA is total supply and also circulating supply. This amount is fixed, there will be no more or less IOTA.
Everything was sold in a crowdsale in 2015, even the founders had to buy in, and around $500,0000 were raised (something like 2,200 BTC iirc).

Afaik, the exact amount raised was 1773 BTC, which was back then worth around 500k USD as stated in the previous post.
Initial supply was 999,999,999 at start, before it was decided to raise that number to 2,779,530,283,277,761 (0,5 x 3^33). Basically every token holder saw his amount of token multiplied by [(0,5 x 3^33) / 999,999,999 ]

My Bitter Experience about IOTA website and it's wallet:
==================================

Recently I purchased 265.4 IOTA coin from binance and for long term holding I send it from exchange to my PC IOTA Wallet. Today I found that my wallet balance is 0.

For IOTA wallet setup I downloaded from the official website and for seed generation I used https://www.*********.online/, which is exactly similar looks like to the official website. Please beware seed generation using online website. I am providing the history details of my Wallet.

ALSO I WILL NEVER INVEST IN IOTA IN FUTURE. THE WALLET SETUP INFORMATION IS NOT CLEAR FOR USERS OR INVESTORS.  THIS IS VERY BAD EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE.

IOTA OFFICIAL PLEASE TAKE CARE ABOUT YOUR FUTURE INVESTOR PLEASE.  Angry.

I think that such projects need to be looked for long term. As the use of promised technology in practice increases, the price also increases. For example, if a big electronics or automobile company is use the IOTA it will become to a very good point.

I remember I sold 5 million iota for 50 btc. Was really happy. Don't know if I get a prize for being dumbest human Cheesy

To be fair to my self though, 50 btc was a big amount to me, and I expected to buy the 5 million iota back after it goes to an exchange for a lower price. So in my mind I was thinking I could save 20 btc by doing that,  Grin Grin Grin Grin .

If I didn't do that I could have made thousands of btc.
when did you make that order??
if that was true, so you are worth the prize : coolest man on earth
cause I might buy IOTA from you at that price :v
anyway, if a coin got potential, you never lose when buying it at any price. stay calm and be cool man.
50btc still be a big money even at dip right now.
I guess he is referring to 5M IOTA when ICO, that is todays equivalent to approx 14 Ti, would be aprox 2800 BTC

I read some about iota. Maybe it is a great tech, efficient and perfect for IOT micro transactions...but one issue I am struggling with: what is to make the companies building hardware integrate IOTA? Can't someone come copy it and put it in the products? Maybe the brands will fight awhile to do their own iota idea until there is a clear winner or some standard other than IOTA? (one where the hardware manufactures benefit from it more)...

I really don't understand why IOTA jump and fall with Bitcoin so parallel...When Bitcoin rise, IOTA rise, when Bitcoin goes down, IOTA goes down. Can somebody explain this for me? These are two complete different projects and in my opinion, IOTA has tons of great news. But i don't see any special jump of IOTA in the last weeks, only when the whole crypto market jumps high.

Would love when we would see the potential of IOTA finally in its price Smiley

Its a similar dynamic for all kinds of alt coins across crypto even when some of them are more capable and possibly with greater growth potential then the original crypto currency Bitcoin.   Its because I think alot of alt coins receive purchase in bitcoin not cash, yes there is a link to cash for alot of coins but maybe the main pathway is Bitcoin itself.

So the price of Bitcoin sets the gold standard for the value of all other crypto to some extent.   Maybe it shouldnt be that way but as the original and longest standing blockchain it has the widest path to dollars.
Of course you dont have measure success against Dollars anyhow, that in itself is a failing standard from 60 years or so ago.   Its broken a long time now, its only stlll there at the centre of global trade because of politics   I'm sure I remember some famous phrase, if you only measure your progress by the competition you will never really succeed.    I hope to see many crypto standards surpass Dollar for integrity and worth to its users.

Many thanks for that detailed answer Smiley
I Hope that in the future IOTA will break through this relationship and show it's real value Smiley
