For some altcoins it’s hype as the ‘coin of the week’ and people buying because of speculation or FOMO, but for other coins it is because of real long-term potential to be part of the new blockchain world! One big problem with sorting it all out is that all the coins are lumped together in one big market cap table with 1,500 or so coins, and we don’t have sub-indices where coins are categorised into cryptocurrency coins/blockchain coins/Protocol API coins and utility token coins that can be further categorised into cryptoecchanges/financial/games gambling/real estate/ioT/shipping trading etc. the long term value I think can be found in the ‘architeture’ coins that will be the building blocks of the new blockchain world such as 3rd gen blockchains like VEN & ZIL and ELF and cryptocurrenvy coins such as BTC and XLM etc. So try to avoid the hype coins and utility ones which are likely to lose all value in a big crash and go for coins that will likely be part of the blockchain 3rd Technology revolution of the world in the next 10-15 years. These are the coins that will appreciate up to 50,000% like the big centralised companies of the 2nd technology revolution such as Amazon, Google, FB, eBay etc did!
I am still buying a lot of IOTA here. I will buy it at every dip that wee see in the next couple of months until it goes up again. It is a safe bet for me and I will make some nice profits when this starts to pump again 
Honestly, I have not added to my iota bag in months, I don't trust exchanges for storage, and the current wallet scares the bollocks off me with having to make your own seed, and address reuse issues etc. Once the trinity waĺet looks imminent I will try and buy up on an exchange and transfer within 24 hours, probably missing out on some low prices, but whenever I read an account of some poor guy who lost his stash i know that could easily have been me.
Trinity wallet will herald an iota boom, lots of noobs and tech phobes need trainer wheels.

In my opinion, a good coin is the coin which has a lot of innovative features. I think IOTA has good and unique features and this is really good for its future.
Yes, agree there are many innovative features will take place in IOTA block chain but for everything we have to wait because good things will always takes time to develop. Already IOTA has secured significant position in the crypto market.

The UN agreement is a vote of confidence in the iota foundation, not really worthy of a pump, much more significant than that, it means serious people outside crypto and the financial system generally think iota tech is potentially useful in the real world for solving problems. That's a HUGE achievement for the whole dlt space,

The news is good, but unfortunately due to the current situation it did not affect the price.The top 100 look pretty red--not much you can do about that. The UN won't create demand until they implement IOTA in the field.

I agree that IOTA will become the next big thing. However, it will have a hard long time reaching a price of even 100 to 300 dollars.
The price is always a result of market cap divided by number of coins. There are 2,779,530,283 MIOTA in total and will never change, and the price of 1 MIOTA is currently $0.37, which indicates a market cap of $1,028,426,204.
So in order for the price of one MIOTA to be, let's say $200, it requires a market cap of $556 billion. That will take more than half a year. Maybe even more than a decade. Furthermore, there's probably gonna come some new competitive technology along the way.

IOT is perfect. There have been few projects that can do this in a healthy way. Since IOTA transferred it to the blockchain, the best is for now, but there are many more powerful projects on the subject.
Yes, indeed, iota has enough competitors, there are a couple of coins that are not inferior to IOTA in their technological part, everything depends on marketing.No there's not. Most of the coins claiming suitability for IOT don't even have their networks up, let alone tested in the real world (they're literally ERC20 tokens), meanwhile IOTA is doing presentations at a UN symposium.
