Get back to discussing *this* "pathetic charade."  Let's stay on topic plox Smiley

Suggested theme:  "What happened to the pump?  Did vandals really break the handle?"

Opening day speculation, lots of reddit pumping saw this coming from a mile away.

Indeed, I sold off at the height of that rise, not because I think Neo Bee isn't a great company, but because there was obvious jump in price due to the positive media coverage. I'll buy back in at some point, just not right now. The company itself looks to be doing everything right- it's just going to be a very long road in developing its customer base, and reaching profitability. Those calling it a scam, or even a pump and dump, need to separate what the 'market' is doing from the company itself.

What on earth do you mean? Anyone who bought during the IPVO is sitting on a 50% profit. Why would we want it 'pumped' when natural growth will bring far greater benefits over the long term.

Hold on now MPOE - are you really accusing NeoBee of being a scam?

Guy has no shame. MPOE's exchange is one of biggest ongoing scams to date, ripping off huge insane fees from unsuspecting customers.

the fact that anyone buys into that pathetic charade is why it is allowed to exist

The fact that you get 10btc for recruiting an idiot to pay 30btc registration fees is what allows it to exist.

What we are witnessing now with MtGox is further cleansing of the Bitcoin ecosystem. The odds are that MtGox is beyond repair in every aspect. Whether the coins are missing or not remains to be seen, as little solid information has been released. Luckily the Bitcoin space is now witnessing serious investors and business people developing infrastructure to utilize the technology in a more professional capacity. The time of garage companies, shady operators and teenage hackers has passed. The time of seriously funded, professionally operated, responsibly executed, carefully planned and diligently tested businesses is here. This new crop of businesses is more transparent, more secure and more professional than those of the first generation. Here at Neo and Bee and Neo EasyCoin, we are making great progress towards higher levels of transparency and professionalism. The willingness of other businesses such as Coinbase, Bitstamp, Coinkite, Circle and Blockchain.info to provide transparency
  and accountability is encouraging.

Our customers can always independently verify their Bitcoin holdings on the blockchain. We voluntarily subject ourselves to external audit with one of the Big Four audit firms, and we make painstaking efforts to remain on the forefront of physical and software security to ensure we do not become the next MtGox.

Bitcoin is here to stay and it will only become stronger through more professional infrastructure.

Or maybe just see here and take it down a notch. Or five.

Monero (XMR) - secure, private, untraceable
...
PS: also rumours grow here that Satoshi is in Cyprus teaching at neapolis university the first ever university that had bitcoin payment system years ago. Dr. Roy Murphy an over educated processor in a not so good university neo bee devs where his students
Very unlikely. It seems Satoshi has been found: http://mag.newsweek.com/2014/03/14/bitcoin-satoshi-nakamoto.html

About  Neo&Bee - thank you trolls and dumpers for the cheep shares available. I don't believe the price will fall much more, but if it does I'll make whatever is needed to buy some more. Actually I think the all time high is just behind the corner. I'm confident, that  business like Neo&Bee is what will lead Bitcoin to mass adoption. What they already made in Cyprus is outstanding and this is just the beginning.

Hey people,

Quick update to confirm I just opened an account with Neo at their branch in Nicosia and I'm very impressed by the whole experience!

Walking in the NEO branch felt similar to walking into a high-end bank branch - greeted by a very professional / smartly dressed / polite girl. I said I wanted to create a wallet and she offered to walk me through it.

She gave me a document to fill-in with my details and some questions assessing my awareness in financial services (i.e. if I have traded in financial instruments before etc.).

Then a document of about 10 pages with various terms and conditions which needed to be signed on all pages (I think the pages were posted in a previous post here by someone else).

To complete the registration an ID and proof of residence was needed. I was missing the second so I said I'll be back for that.

They seem to be covering all bases in regards to regulations - vastly improved over what is usually required on an online exchange service. It remains to be seen how the Cypriot / world authorities handle this on their side, but as far as NEO is concerned, I can confirm the process is as thorough as any "old-world" bank's.

As a Cypriot / Bitcoin fan witnessing the developments with NEO I'm glad they are on top of the game so far and hope they continue in the same vain Smiley

Neapolis, owned by a bankrupt hotelier (Leptos), is not a serious University, not really classed as a university in the minds of Cypriots.

Unlikely to be in a position to attract Satoshi Smiley

this guys is for sure over qualified for that uni

Cyprus most recently was in the headlines because a private university there is accepting bitcoin for tuition payments and also offering a degree in bitcoin.

"Well, it's a very exciting prospect. I have to say that personally I'm still learning regarding this bitcoin phenomenon because I think it's a very interesting phenomenon on a global scale. And it's very interesting and encouraging that a private university in Cyprus has been bold enough to take this step," said Georgiades.

Georgiades said he wasn't informed about the university's decision to accept bitcoin, but rather read it about in the news. He feels the news is emblematic of Cyprus and its economy.

"It was a private initiative and that shows how ahead the private sector, private enterprise and innovation is. And that's how it should be," he said. "I am a strong believer in the ... dynamism of the private sector and especially in Cyprus. ... Because of this entrepreneurial spirit which we have in Cyprus ... I am so confident that we shall soon be on track for recovery and growth ."

Even politicians try to have opinion on it.
What's their opinion? Do they embrace it or do they want to ban it (because of money laundering/terrorism/whatever)?

they know they cannot ban it as central bank said is legal, they are still uneducated on the matter, i heard one yesterday talking about bitcoin factory, a factory that makes btcs looola

Those who understand it, they embrace it.

Those who do not, they are not taking a public position, even though most of them are positively inclined.

A lot of credibility is brought in by the University of Nicosia, whose CFO has publicly stated on several occasions that they believe Bitcoin is “mankind’s most significant technological innovation of the last 20 years”.

When people and politicians listed to such comments from the country’s biggest and most respected university, you understand that they will be positively inclined, even if they do not understand it.

Cypriot FinMin:
...it should be noted that it was a private institution, a private university, that led the way, and I think that's where I would establish the hopes that we should proceed on the private sector. The role of the government would be to facilitate, or even, simply, to get out of the way - to clear the way to open the road to get rid of the administrative difficulty and bureaucracy and to allow such innovative acts to unfold. .... The best we can do is to clear the way - get out of the way - and allow the private sector - the universities, researchers, the research sector of the island to steer us ahead.

I don't think Cyprus has a problem with money laundering, they do embrace it (inoficially), it's a tax paradise.
Hopefully the average Cypriot will embrace the Bee system.
