I don't think Bitcoin will ever go mainstream like the fiat currencies and become a part of regular economy.
To my opinion Bitcoin will always stay alternative although it will go through some changes.
High volatility, limited number of coins and lack of regulation are the main obstacles for Bitcoin to become mainstream. But I don't think that this was even the original idea of Bitcoin.

It is already mainstream but more companies are having a new face towards ICOs and Cryptos and accepting it more. It is a positive impact since in can gradually effect people in using bitcoin more thus leading to Crypto to success.

basically the blockchain technology that started to become mainstream, crypto is just one part of that technology. seen from the increasing number of conventional companies are beginning to apply this technology, in addition to many blockchain-based projects are made by relying on investment funds from ico program. this year is indeed proof that many enthusiasts in the cryptocurrency industry, the effect is emerging interest groups that are trying to bring down the crypto and the government that began to make appropriate regulations and decisions related to this industry.

And yes and no. As for me, in 2018 crypto become more popular and more people hear about cryptocurrency. In comparison
with past years. But now and further crypto will be mainstream. It's population will be grow.

The truth is that the anticipation for crypto to go mainstream increases as time goes on. In fact there are skeptis who would have nothing to do with crypto unless it goes mainstream. Is 2018 that year when blockchain crypto goes mainstream?

Not a chance bro. 2018 is too early to see Bitcoin go mainstream. Also, Bitcoin is not yet capable of being mainstream for the moment. Imagine people waiting for at least 10 minutes for their transaction to went through the network. This is very impractical for peer to peer or face to face transaction. Give it at least 5 more years and we might get there.

Block chain technology has gradually become mainstream.
However, different countries have different attitudes towards the cryptocurrency market. Some countries are more optimistic and open.
Well where some countries are pretty optimistic about the prospects of bitcoin or any other crypto currency, there are many which are afraid of their citizens using cryptos as it might cause economic instability in the stae and might cause dire consequences and hence are banning or putting a limit on cryptos, although in the brighter side there are countries like Japan and korea who have already allowed the usage of cryptos with few limiting bodies to look over.

The expectation is really high of cryptocurrency bullish run for this year 2018. I know a lot that has sold off their assets to get into the crypto markets only to be caught in the trap. Well, we are still waiting for the mainstream to commence earnestly.

Yes, this year is indeed a turning point for the cryptocurrency. But still, while the states do not formally adopt the criterion, we obviously will not see this.

I think by 2018 it's tough when the crypto or bitcoin market declines sharply and should be noticed by digital currency investors in 2018 to be a remarkable year for the cryptocurrency market.

I think its a remarkable year for an ICO explosion. So much project, airdrops and ICO but only a few is serious about the project. Mostly they are only raising funds for personal purposes without concrete plan for the project.

Blockchain as we stand has been accepted by the mainstream but they are still critical of bitcoin because of its decentralized system. Although some very few countries admire the potency of Crypto to change the old system of doing things. Things will get better about Crypto world but full mainstream will be gradual.

Maybe we can say No in a partial term. This year has really been hot for cryptocurrency with a lot of occurrence like the regulation by SEC , hacking of exchanges and some petty scamish ptojects. We are still hoping for the best maybe after the regulation then crypto can go mainstream so that many investors can invest and we return to the BULL Season.

i dont think that we are going to see somethign changing during this year, maybe we will have to wait a little bit more until everything starts to change a little bit more, this year will be like a static one in where nothing is going to change

It is true that 2018 is a mainstream year, with a very long decline in bitcoin prices and but bitcoin already has a high price and I think it will increase again by the end of this year.

Bitcoin graph says end of 2018 market condition will rise more than $30k or more. Old Bitcoin history is very good. I hope market will be good as soon as.

I think it's still early for crypto and blockchain to go mainstream, but it surely can't be ignored or called a "bubble".
Technology is still very new to most of the people and it surely will take years to adopt it widely.
Half of the 2018 has already passed, so it looks like we can now hope for 2019, 2020 years to become a crypto mainstream  Wink

I think it was last year (2017) marked as the start of crypto on mainstream because of lots of events happened during that year that introduces cryptocurrencies and blockchain to most of the people around the world. Now, this year looks like it's the toughest year of crypto yet as the cryptomarket is constantly bleeding.

Why do you think it hasn't mainstream already?

I recently concluded that crypto is already mainstream by now. A few days ago I watched Ant-Man and The Wasp, to my surprise there was one dialogue that mentioned cryptocurrency. Didn't expect that coming. No, I didn't conclude because of that. But I've felt that most people already know what crypto is. It's everywhere on the news now!

Do you describe mainstream as when people are using crypto daily, replacing the traditional money in general? I don't think that'll ever happen in our lifetime.

It could but no one could accurately guess it or tell it. Bitcoin continue to progress even tough its price is not performing well. There are group of private company that are pushing bitcoin to be a security or even a legal tender in several countries. As a result, some countries lift the ban on bitcoin, some have even legalize the use of bitcoin. But the ultimate goal is to set bitcoin as a legal tender. Nowadays, some company have already accepted bitcoin as a payment but even there are some who open their doors, there are also some that close their doors. I think one of it is the steam, which previously accept bitcoin but stopped it later on.
