Unlike Liberty Reserve, Bitcoin's transactions aren't truly invisible. Thanks to the elaborate software architecture that stands behind this cryptocurrency, it's possible to see the web of exchanges involving Bitcoin. But it's not possible to see who is using them, much less what they're buying. Little wonder that bitcoins have a growing criminal constituency, particularly in the unregulated, murky online world of the "Deep Web."
I dont think we will see all those illegal transactions, some might be doing it right now but we will not see it. Maybe if we can access the deep web or more. But it is scary when you go down there.
illegal activities are tend to be done in the dark. Meaning no one is suppose to see it except for the people involved. It really is scary especially when you are not used on it. But bitcoin had been in bad press ever since, yes it is used in many illegal activities but more honest and legit merchant are using it now.

This statement is correct, and in this time is appearing some service is providing about break the amount and eliminating the history of the bitcoin address, it will very support for the criminal for using into the wrong way. that's dumb statement, bitcoin is a currency and currency can be used for anything if the user want,just like people do use dollar to buy drugs or anything illegal? its the same like when you use btc,and about money laundering, its possible to be done through any currency
Thanks for saying this, it's a really important point that a lot of people both in this forum and in the wider world need to understand. I can use dollars to do illegal shit, just as I can use bitcoin, in fact I'm probably more likely to use dollars in person as cash is LESS traceable than coins(without using mixers).
criminals are just taking advantage of the anonymous part of bitcoin(yes bitcoin is anonymous if you don't deal in fiat and you not have your name attached to your address...), that's not bitcoin fault

Bitcoin can help a lot in money laundering practices so its nothing new that bitcoin is being used for illegal activities and it will continue to be used as long as it provides a way of minimizing the risk of getting caught. With the fiat money risk is bigger for example when you do the exchange of the money something may go wrong and starts a mass shooting. With bitcoin criminals can talk to each other from TOR, from SIGAINT email which are untraceable and make a hassle free exchange.

Bitcoin is money. Every illegal activites that associated in money can also be done in bitcoin.
And no, I see it won't hurt bitcoin in the long run because after all good news about bitcoin still dominates over those bad.
Just deal with it because it's usual.

Off course we CAN DO something about this. And ppl are doing this. There are companies that just do that, monitor and detect illegal transactions in the blockchain, e.g.,

Are you sure safe using bitcoin for illegal acitivy so what you can buy with bitcoin "drugs,weed or what". in fact bitcoin only most use for gambling site so what a problem with that in some country, gambling isn't illegal.yeah by law in some countries gambling is not illegal, but morally gambling is illegal everywhere i every corner of the world, as with that a person lose all the hard earned money of his life and ruin his life to enter the poverty.

Of course it is, like every other currency that exists, if a currency exists it's quite that it'll be both used for legal and illegal activities. But when you mentoin Bitcoin to someone who doesn't know much about cryptocurrenciess they immediately think that you hire hitmen online, It's kinda getting better last years though.

yes it may be but i personally have no idea, to me as bitcoin is a new born currency and still hardly 1% of the world population will be using bitcoin,and the one percent are those people who have good command on computer and internet, and well educated, so i can say that the illegal bitcoin users will be negligible, and i will like to add that most of the people of the world will be using the most popular currency of the world which is almost in every country is applicable, therefor USD is the best option with them using for illegal activities. of course bitcoin is used for illegal stuff, we cannot do anything about so i dont worry about it

How come you know the stats? Any valid source of that percentage you are talking? lol.
And no, bitcoin is prominent today because of it's price and not with the "only" reason you are pointing about more people are using it in business. The stats today for business who are using bitcoins are far away from so called big adoption.
