I think bitcoin is not losing it's popularity. If you are talking about the downfall happening now, this is very normal because bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are so volatile, it goes up and goes down at any moment. If you have bitcoin don't lose hope, bitcoin will stil recover too soon.
For me bitcoin will not lose its popularity, it will rise to reign again because everyone around is talking about bitcoin even in the media soon bitcoin will fly.

Take for example the ETN, their main target is mass adoption and introducing cryptocurrency in a simplest way. And many more alts will definitely come in the near future.
But now we have hard fork called Bitcoin Cash which is 8 times faster and much cheaper, which resembles Satoshi idea more closely. And many other altcoins to choose from.
I must say that some people say that they are considering BCH as the real BTC as its characteristics are based on Satoshi's whitepaper. And today, btc is being considered as the real btc only because it has the majority of the hashpower. Thus no matter what its name, bch is also considered as btc.

In term of popularity btc still the king. And I think it will not ends on our generation. though ethereum and ripple trying to be in stage of btc but it cannot overthrow the btc as a king of cryptocurrency.

I think it's not. Bitcoin is still the basis of all altcoins. Bitcoin is volatile and it's downfall of prices is still just a part of it. It won't lose it's popularity because of it's price drop. I don't think so.I think it is more the fact that there aren't big dumps or pumps , it is staying at the same level more or less. People seem to lose interest fast that way, they are here for the quick money.But I am sure that bitcoin will recover again soon. Maybe in this year.
