To me money is only money whether people have faith in it. Something could be money to some but not others. The only difference between fiat money and monopoly money is the faith people have in it. If people lost their faith in fiat and stopped using it then it would become worthless. Same applies to bitcoin or anything else. If you regard it as money and people accept it as payment for something then it's money.

Wow Brad Pitt is here. Yeah true it is about how it is used daily. If it can be traded in exchange for another thing or an object then it is money. They dont use money in the past just trading through gold or silver. And up until know it can be used as a means of payment. Or you can exchange it to fiat then use it. Same goes with bitcoin.

It's the only real money I know, anything else is either too heavy, or too light like dust...

Of course it is real money to me. You know why, because things because you can buy them and you can sell it can also be exchanged for cash.
So why is it not as if I may ask.

Anything that can be used to buy items online or offline or be exchanged to money to do the same is real money in my opinion, Bitcoin is real money and an interesting concept too.

Yes, even I am considering bitcoin as a real money, the current situation of bitcoin adoption in my country stopping me from using bitcoin as a real money. Hopefully in near future, I may find more merchants to spend my bitcoins.

Bitcoin is of course real money for me. You can buy things, and you can go redeem it for things.
So why would not it be so. I think it has a value.

It does have value, currently $374 worth of value. You're right it is real money of course it is, just different to what we're used to. Real money for the internet- digital currency. I guess the only thing that matters is it real money to you? Me? Yes it is and the more people feel it is real or better than real money will make it real money.

Real money used to be gold and silver until receipts for the gold was issued then people accepted paper receipt money as real money. In short it is whatever the people choose it to be and soon will be accepted by all as the best of real money.

Yes it is. It is now lined up with other commodities and currencies. It is also been monitored 24/7. That is why it is considered real. Some might not think it is not. But why would they put it there if it doesnt have existence.

Yes, bitcoin is one of the competitor for both commodity as well as for currencies. Still the reason for many people are not considering bitcoin as real money, they are unable to find enough options to spend their bitcoins.

BTC can be exchanged for USD and be used to buy any item available in the market, They can also be used directly to buy a wide category of options in sites or places accepting BTC directly, BTC is real money IMO.

This debate is caracteristic of journalists and academics. They also dispute what to call bitcoin. Some media outlets do make a distinction between "real" money and bitcoins, while others call bitcoin real money.

it's digital currency. It's currency. It's money  Roll Eyes

Bitcoin is of course real money to me. You could simply buy a lot of things with it and so it is for my defenition certainly real money.
It would be strange if people think it's not real money.

Many people still consider bitcoin not as a real money with different factors... The lack of availability of bitcoin accepting merchants and still finding bitcoin as an investment are some of them.

i can not say that it is real for me, i can not touch it or hold it in my hand so its pretty hard to imagine that

can you touch your money in internet banking?
the money in internet banking is "just only numeric" no more
bank can manipulate the number, or he can edit your money from $100.000 to $10.000 (imposible but bank can do it)

in bitcoin no people can edit it, no people can manipulate bitcoin balance (if you use full client bitcoin wallet)

so are you think money in your debit card is not real ? like bitcoin at your wallet?

As i could buy stuff, yes.

Great! Where do you buy your stuffs? Many here have the same experiences as yours maybe it is really the best way so that people will think it is the real money. Buy stuffs and physical goods, touch it and feel the power that bitcoin did to buy that.
