There is no doubt that Bitcoin is the King of cryptocurrencies. If we only focus on altcoins, ETH is the most successful smart contract platform that owns the largest base of fans compared to other altcoins. The current market cap of Ethereum is over $200 Billions and the this will be more likely to increase in the long term. Can ETH be considered as the King of Altcoins ? What do you think ? Please let me know.

of course I agree with your argument if until whenever ETH is the king of altcoin and nothing can replace it, because ETH is the pioneer of Blockchain ecosystem, so there is no need to doubt if ETH is the king of altcoin, therefore I always add ETH in my portfolio every time I have money, because I'm sure if the price of ETH will definitely increase very high and can give me a lot of profit.

Not the "King of Altcoins", but rather the "King of Tokens". We can also call ETH the "King of NFTs", since it's the leading platform for digital collectibles and art. Market cap tells us nothing about the coin, other than its valuation in Fiat relative to its circulating supply. What really determines how successful a project is, it's mainstream demand and active development. ETH is one of the most active (if not the most active) smart contract platforms in the world in terms of development and innovation, so it has a huge advantage over its competitors. Not to mention, it was the first coin to bring Web 3.0 to the world. It may have turned into a centralized PoS coin, but it's still a better option than Solana or BNB (which are far more centralized).

I believe there's room for improvement, as developers work on ways to preserve the network's decentralization and censorship-resistance. Upcoming upgrades will make ETH a "force to reckon with". Who knows if it lives alongside BTC for generations? Just my opinion Smiley

It does not really matter what ETH is called, and what matters is what it is. You have brought up this excellent point that ETH is the first coin to bring Web3 to the world. I understand your concern about its changing (might become centralized as others such as BNB), but can we see this issue from a different perspective ? Even if ETH becomes a centralized coin/platform/blockchain, as long as the funds are safe, does the nature of ETH really matter ? Decentralization is an ultimate goal that everyone wants to achieve but it takes a long time and needs countless technological advancements. I support every steady move and progress but go against any progressive thing in any fancy name. Just my thought. No big deal. Grin

I think it’s been pretty clear that ETH has reigned supreme over altcoins for some time now. However, the decision to move to PoS from PoW took away their miner support and left ETH as not being any more hardened than other altcoins. Some, like Polygon are even more advance while being cheaper and handling more volume. ETH may continue to be the most valuable altcoin, but only because it’s holders are rich enough to keep it that way.

First ETH was hacked, second it was the 2nd actualization going thru turning less decentralized as before.
If there is a second on to bitcoin it should be litecoin. Similar structure just faster, and not as expensive to pass it on.

ETH (Ethereum) is one of the most popular and influential cryptocurrency projects in the world. It is a platform for creating decentralized applications and smart contracts, and therefore has a large community of developers and users.
However, it cannot be said that ETH is the "king of altcoins". Although ETH is one of the leading projects, there are many other cryptocurrencies that also have a lot of popularity and influence in the cryptocurrency market.

King can be dethrone so maybe I will support that King word for Ethereum because this cannot hold that permanently and will change in the future .

and also if we will base in the ranking and the trading volume ? no doubt that this is Ethereum and nothing more(as of the time we are talking)

In my opinion, Ethereum is the king of altcoins. ETH is one of the most well-known altcoins on the market and has a strong community of developers and users. Additionally, ETH has unique features that set it apart from other altcoins, such as its ability to support smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps). In fact, many of the most popular apps on the market are built on top of the Ethereum blockchain.

Ethereum has been in the crypto space for a long time and we have seen its potential through different market seasons so its capability is undeniably high. But I don't think having an altcoin king is necessary because there are also high-potential altcoins that might surpass Ethereum in the future. Ethereum will always be on top but we should not disregard how other top coins could reach the same achievement that it has.
among other altcoins, ethereum is indeed at the top, again the same as bitcoin, ethereum has high trust, so we can see it has the largest capitalization among other altcoins. Even though many new projects have switched to blockchain because of the high fees at that time, Ethereum remains second in CoinMarketcap to date. so that it becomes one of the altcoins that is suitable for long-term investment

I agree with your opinion, it is true that currently ETH is the king altcoin but it does not rule out the possibility that ETH can be shifted by other altcoins to take over the current ETH position
Nothing lasts forever in this world, so does crypto, even though Ethreum has been number two in the crypto world for a long time, but one day a new innovator will appear who will come up with new innovations in the crypto world that will change many things, including who will being number 1 or 2 and so on and who will be the next king is one who not only excels in market capitalization but also provides innovation to make the crypto market healthier.

No one denies that ETH can not be replaced or surpassed forever but that just won't happen that soon. Your comment is quite general and lacks supporting evidence or analysis. Please add more in-depth points next time. Thanks.

Due to the high price of ETH, its gas fees are relatively high.  For example, when the price of ETH was $100 and if its gas fee was 0.0005 ETH, but its value was $0.05, but according to the current price, that amount of ETH is worth $0.89 and the same amount when the price of ETH is $5000.  The value of ETH will be $2.0.  Thus, the price of ETH is increasing along with its gas fee and increasing in relation to the dollar.  And moving beyond our reach. And that's why many users and new companies are choosing BSC and polygon as alternatives to ETH chain
That is it, Ethereum has fees have been the biggest disadvantages of the network since inception and at the moment, nothing have been done about that, and the gas fees always rise in proportion with the price and any time the price move in one direction the gas fees move in that same direction and this is not only peculiar with ethereum but even Bitcoin network too.

-The issue with gas fees have really affected the scalability of the market because there have not been any development that will solve that problem in the ethereum network and that is the reason for the wide migration to other chains like BSC.
Ethereum's gas fees were fixed when it was created, so there is no way to edit this network now, so high gas fees must be accepted by everyone if anyone wants to use the ETH network.  But Ethereum 2.0 may solve this problem but how effective it will be is also unknown to us. But hopefully Ethereum 2.0 will solve this gas fee issue.  And if this high gas fee problem is solved, the popularity of Ethereum will increase, otherwise BSC chain will go further and compete strongly with Ethereum.

Of course Ethereum is the king among altcoins. Because currently the price of all coins has not increased in the growth of the Bitcoin market, but the price of Ethereum has increased with the price of Bitcoin. And if there is any second investment coin after Bitcoin investment, it is definitely Ethereum. For those of you who think Ethereum investing is risky, I don't think so. I always consider Ethereum investment as safe investment as Bitcoin.

even though sometimes eth position get overtaken by some coin, this has happened quite many times in the past, but right now the fact that there are many blockchain implementing the same concept that's like ethereum basically using EVM just gonna strengthen ethereum position, the money flowing to the second layer like optimism etc, eventually, it will strengthen ethereum.

Ethereum is a good project and is one of the best altcoins for now. The market is going and Ethereum is going to move well with time looking at the way people are investing in it. The market is still moving and by the time Bitcoin reaches like $100k, Ethereum will reach like $20k by then. Let's watch out how everything will play out.

Ethereum is the largest smart contract platform and one of the most successful altcoins with a significant market capitalization. Whether it can be considered the "King of Altcoins" is subjective and dependent on personal opinions.

I would have to say yes, it's a king. But as we know from the history, Ethereum also can we dethroned. Just give it a time.
For the same reason that it has one of the larget chain in this industry its market price is one of the lewding when it comes on both uptrend and downtrend, simply showing how influential it is, in this industry. We could really say yes if it is among altcoins given that this coin is also believed to be next to Bitcoin, but only with some aspects. Other coins are still having a higher rate of increase during bullrun but that's another story and will be depending on investor's preference. But in terms of overall sustainability in the price charts, for sure Ethereum will always be at the top. It even has almost the same market price pattern as Bitcoin. Simply proving that it is one of the best asset in cryptoindustry.

YES! It sure is for me!

In times of volatility, the only crypto that is less volatile than ETH is BTC.
The risk is a bit bigger than BTC but the reward also greater.

Seeing is believing. Ever the Ethereum was created no altcoin was able to match it potentially because it's the first altcoin that introduced something new into the cryptocurrency world while others are imitating the Bitcoin concept. The altcoin that would have been in the Ethereum position is Litecoin but the naivety of the coin creates spoil everything.

it's true that coin eth is the king of alcoins because coin eth has potential and you can hold coin eth in the long term I noticed that only coin eth has survived besides coin bnb until now and many investors are still confident in coin eth they are waiting for the price of coin eth to rise and that's for sure will occur.
