There is no room for panic here. It's all normal in crypto world - ups and downs. Specially in this kind of period - repeating same as 4 years behind ous.(you can check graphics if you are curious)
So , if project is bulding good reputation with sponsors back up and community growth , just hold tight!

dangerous if you include people who panic in hold for too long and getting a panic if the coin failed to rise. hold the coin is perfectly safe and natural, safe because the risk of loss is getting smaller.
Holding alts may dangerous if no development at all of a certain coins. It can be dangerous when you are into panic selling too emotions will indeed bring a failed holding alts. The best is we should hold those worth and big projects altcoins.

Of course, but then again ETH was a altcoin (is maybe the corect term?) before. Crypto in general should be treated carefully. I took my gambling budget and put it into crypto, still not in with the house...

Last year alts rise a lot. I dont know the average percentage. But when I check coins in the market at year 2013 lots of them dead now (too low ranks). probably new tech coins won them (like peercoin, namecoin, ixcoin etc)

Also we are following new ICO s and most of us expecting too much gain from new coins which are not at the market. If our ICO expectations will happen, when they added to market, current market coins will go down. kind of paradox  Huh

There are some exceptions to this, some Ico turns out to be a good investment, the recent one is Electroneum but the potential is not yet achieved, and there are coins in that year that is still up like Dogecoin and litecoin, the best criteria is still are the people behind that project and the kind of platform they are going to implement.

Mad there is a big difference between altcoin and ico , altcoins are all the existing coins while ico are introducing new coins with no purpose , main reason for ico is to raise that huge enormous funds like how kodak is doing to save their stupid business and like all other ico.
I made more profit from holding altcoins than making bitcoin if you have some sense its possible for you also

certainly not, if you hold altcoin with the patient and within a long-term then the benefit will be big and certainly not dangerous because your money will be safe.

It is quite dangerous for one to hold some alts but not all the altcoins are dabgerous as some of them with high market capitalization has done very well and investing in them now is like buying the future. Most of them have a bright future and I believe there are not going to die like those coins thar you have referred to in 2013.

Anything in these markets can be dangerous given the volatile nature of them. The better question you should be asking is: what coins have actual use cases? Those are the ones that will survive past a couple years
Actually holding the altcoins is very risky. You can become very wealthy and can become poor in just one week. So what do we do to reduce the risk of investing?
I advise you to thoroughly research the altcoin you are investing and update your altcoin daily news. That's the best way you can decide to hold or sell.
if you want to invest a coin we can expect to have a good coin and have a stable price stability. because at this time a lot of coins that have a high price and could be one option for investment so that our assets are maintained and safe.

It is a natural selection on the altcoins market, can you imagine how many new coins apper every day. If you have in your portfolio only good projects with strong team and usefull in real life concept you don't have to worry.
Maybe some of it are scammed and left behind projects. We cannot deny the fact that every new and old crypto has it's end. And sometimes they do not actually gave the community a satisfying or good used of it. What I mean is they lack to help the customers or consumers to used their platform or services at good cost. So the tendency of it is going to dumped market.

Cannot treat all the alts as same. Some bad or scam projects will go down but good ones
will go up big so doing your own research and diversifying carefully is important.

There are a lof of risky things in this world and holding alts is not an exception Smiley. You also can risk your money when you just buy an altcoin and hold cause there are a lot of altcoins so if you choose wrong coin without any potential to hold, it'll be really terrible. Beside it'll also make you feel panic if you buy it from Q4 2017 cause maybe the price of coins you're holding has dropped a lot. But don't become a panic seller cause everything will be fine til Q4 of this year

You're right. Most alts are going to die off within a couple of years time. Remember peercoin, mastercoin, etc. was the next big thing? And name coin was still a working thing of the past? Yeah. That was only a year or two ago.

The needs of the market will fluctuate as investors taste shifts over time. That's why this happens.

ICOs aren't that profitable anymore, so you'd have to find one that actually offers something new and people will like the idea of.

Alts are a short term game, btc is the real long term game here.

Depending on which coin you choose. iI you think of it as a long-term investment, a very large part of the altcoins will make a lot of money for investors. You can earn tens of thousands of dollars with only a few hundred dollars worth of investment. But you do not always know it will.

I think there is no answer to this question. some altcoins can rubbish some of the very best to prices. it is important to keep the solid coin.

Since these alts are not trusted like bitcoin and ethereum still people not ready to believe these altcoins for long term savings. If they hold also price fluctuations will make the fear about the price changes takes to cheap price.
I see that many people having most of their altcoins on trading sites and MEW wallet online. The place the saved itself showing that we are not need to save the funds for long term profit. I would go with option as savings alts would be dangerous.

Nobody can be 100% certain, but what I believe is that a bird at hand is better than 1000 in the bush, talking profit along the price action of a token is very important, so that if it drops and a good project, you can buy more from the profit you have taken, Even VCs do review their portfolio
