To avoid such incident you have to make duplicates of your private keys and seed phrase multiple places, for instance if you already gotten married you could share and store it into your wife's phones or system and as well you can save it in your phone and any other gadgets out there. This relief you from having a heart attack over your private keys and seed phrase. Memorizing is very risky however, you may do that but whenever you tried to miss any line then you are total lost and your funds can't be recovered anymore all less you keep playing with it over times to get it stored in your memory.

I read that one of the best ways to preserve a seed phrase is to write it on a piece of paper and keep it in a safe place... Somewhere safe could be in your home out of the reach of family members and friends, it could also be a safe deposit box. But not everyone are financially buoyant to afford the services of a deposit box.

I believe we must have seen or heard about fire outbreaks, where buildings are completely erased by fire. Imagine if the owner or occupant of such a building has some Bitcoin assets, and has his/her phone, tablet, laptop and the seed phrase piece of paper in the building and everything was lost to fire. Now, this brings me to the question... Can seed phrase be memorized? It's advisable to memorize seed phrase?

Of course you can, I think memorizing the seed phrases is fine and I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
But if memorizing it in your mind is the only thing you do to store your seed phrases, that's reckless and overconfidence.
Slow years our brain will definitely experience a decrease in its performance and we can also be hit by a disaster that causes amnesia. Who knows?.

There are many ways to store our seed phrases such as storing them digitally, writing on paper, printing/engraving them on metal or other media.
It depends on our creativity to secure the seed phrase that we have.
There have been many discussions in this forum which have made and summarized any ways we can store the seed phrases we have.

This is correct but even if someone isn't financial capable of buying a safe or deposit box, how can you keep a lot of your assets in crypto when a thing that will give you additional security is can't afford. You really have to invest on it and slash some bucks on your crypto assets to have it.

I believe we must have seen or heard about fire outbreaks, where buildings are completely erased by fire. That person who might have that incident don't know how to do back ups, there are too many ways in creating a backup where it goes wherever you goes. So, you do the thing and strategy by doing that since the hint is there.

Now, this brings me to the question... Can seed phrase be memorized? It's advisable to memorize seed phrase?
I have heard and seen someone brought it up with this idea, yes you can memorize your seed phrase but it's not advisable at all. Do you trust your memory and mind? If so then you do it confidently but most of us can be forgetful and I've also seen situations where people have locked their bitcoins up with forgotten passwords, phrases and accounts. And that's why it's not advisable.

some people do other fun things
write it down in any form they like (paper)(etching metal)
and put that into a metal tin. and then put that tin in a plastic sealed container. and bury it in their back garden (if they fear family theft or neighbour theft when visiting the house)

some people have tatooed themselves in a private area

some have lazer engraved it into diamonds

some have metal etched it into the inside of their wedding ring

No, it's a bad idea because, over time, our memory will forget some things, and if you accidentally forget your seed phrase, you will lose all your bitcoins forever. If you are afraid that writing on paper may burn in fire, you can copy us into different copies and for convenience use a USB and store them, and keep them with you or somewhere only you know. With 4 copies, 3 paper copies, and 1 USB I think it will be safe.

Obviously it's best to memorize your seed phrase but i would definitely not suggest that this should be your only option. because if we are considering worst scenarios then what if something happens to you? Moreover it's a human brain afterall and you can easily forget such a long seed phrase pretty easily i would suggest doing it both the ways keeping it in two secret places just for safety and also memorizing it. After all this the risk of losing it is honestly very minimal which really is worth the bet.

Why don't you consider uploading it to the cloud?

That is what I did with metamask phrases. I remember the password of my email. And in fact, all I need to remember is the password of my email, I synced everything, so when I log in to Gmail, everything automatically gets synced, and I have the doc where my seed phrase is saved.

I'd recommend that, it is convenient, easy.
It seems convenient but storing your seed phrase on a cloud service is is one of the most insecure way of seed storage. A lot of things could go wrong for you, from a simple account hack where your password is leaked to bigger catastrophic events where the cloud service itself gets hacked and everyone's accounts and their content is leaked where users aren't even informed for a long time while the company covers it up.

I agree with you, uploading it to a cloud account is a mistake to save the seed phrase, it's not a wise solution at all considering there are lots of hacks and it's easy to get hacked even if your account is paid, by like using phishing or direct monitoring of the device you use and there are many other ways to access cloud accounts.
And it's better to save the seed phrase in a place that is not connected to the internet to be safer from hacking. If you want to keep doing that, I suggest not keeping the original, or you can change the word in your seed phrase with a synonym or antonym for the word to outwit hackers.

Bro.

Serious memory loss (in terms of memorizing the proof of ownership of lets say 200 bitcoin) usually results from an injury to the brain that's relatively new and sudden, or comes passively with old age, which is caused by or is diagnosable after:

Brain tumor (if the tumor develops in frontal or temporal lobe).

Cancer treatment, such as brain radiation, bone marrow transplant, or chemotherapy (kinda suspicious to me, because cancer.gov doesn't exactly say what about chemo causes. Other places are also kinda just like "yea chemo causes chemo brain, you'll forget shit occasionally but DONT WORRY lol here's what we can do for ya).

Concussion or head trauma (your mom smacks the living shit out of you for whatever reason, despite you being her wealthy son who smartly invested in bitcoin while it was down. She may just wipe your keys from memory).

Not enough oxygen getting to the brain when your heart or breathing is stopped for too long (Lots of ways this can happen to someone).

Heres more omg:

Severe brain infection or infection around brain (ingesting too much fud).
Major surgery or severe illness, including brain surgery (adversary is surprisingly also a neurosurgeon and lobotomizes your keys from your brain).

Transient global amnesia (sudden, temporary loss of memory) of unclear cause. (The underlying cause of transient global amnesia is unknown lmao).

Stroke Smiley Sad Angry Shocked Roll Eyes and then you end up with muscle loss in half your body on top of possible memory loss because it is neurological in nature.  Undecided

Hydrocephalus (fluid collection in the brain).

Multiple sclerosis.

Dementia (also things like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Parkinson's is super fucked because modern day research can only backtrack 15% of Parkinson's causality to genetics. The other 85% is literally Huh. ACROSS the mfing peer reviewed board man. Hey but at least they are educating nurse practitioners and doctors to advocate for the "GENEration" project which is run by the Parkinson's foundation. You support the GENEration project by listening to your doc and giving them your money so they can research more on why pesticides and certain heavy metal exposure can "possibly" curse your entire future gene pool!

Etch your keys in metal or something and hide it. Washers are pretty cool, but you can ask a jeweler to etch the keys into the side of your wedding ring or something. (should be super small, like super small but never tarnish or fade).

Flex your memory skills on something else, not 200 bitcoins. It's not needed IMO, especially when gambling on how dysfunctional our brains get as we get old. Sure, it's anxiety and paranoia across the board when you have 200 bitcoins on the line, and you wanna find the best and most complex way to hide your seed. Aha! No one can look inside my brain!

One day you might not be able to either.

Tin foil hat section

Short form content leads to short form consumption leading to short form attention span and piss poor short term memory retention. Most likely cause of Transient global amnesia. Using our devices to consume modern content for too long could be dangerous to our psyche. Probably not. Probably. Who knows?

Memorizing your own seed phrase is really a bad idea, are you really only need one wallet to hold all of your coins? You need to read about Luke Dashjr's case where his both online and offline wallet get compromised, which make it's not wise idea to carry all your coins just in one wallet.

If you really have a lot Bitcoin, it's better if you split it to 2-3 hardware wallet. I don't think you can remember 48 or 72 hours since it's too many and you need to remember the sequence too.

Seems not advisable to memorize about seed phrase in our mind, have long letter and words each seed phrase and I don't think have any one can memorize full with their seed phrase. Better save it in notepad file or anything easy for accessing than have to save it in our mind and not easy when later faced bad thing and our mind can't memorize back with seed phrase.

Have possibility for memorize with seed phrase but separated with our trusted people, could be our wife, children, family or our brother and give the half of seed phrase for memorize it and half left hold and remember in our memorize. I don't try any way for memorize in our mind because I don't want spent my mind to make not important thing due have many securing placed for saving seed phrase.

It is a good thing if you'd do, I cannot see anything wrong with that, but to rely on your memory I guess is not. If you would be memorizing your seedphrase, still keep something which qould help you remember it just in case you forgot it. Some would say that's unecessary and that is true. But there is also nothing wrong from doing so, it would even lessen the risk of other people being able to access your wallet.
Well, if you think that you can memorize them for many years, then why not? Perhaps, it was you who would know what is best for you but for me, and for some circumstances and the busy life I have, I couldn't make it for sure. I was still good at writing them on paper than keeping them on my computer. Besides, even doing that couldn't assure that we are totally safe from hackers. We can simply set aside that there are so many ways we lose control of our wallet and we remember that a single mistake could lead to hacking incidents - accessing phishing sites, or malware attacks.
I agree. There are just different ways a wallet could be accessed and those instances would always point out to owner's negligence. We only have one job which is to avoid such things to occur because that would be more unfortunate than to lose from investments. Writing or memorizing will depend on your lifestyle or security habits; if you could secure keeping your phrase, then do it but if not, might be a good thing to memorize.

If you have great retentivity then by all means memorize your seed phrase though I won't advice to only memorize the seed phrase, you still need a physical back up of the seed phrase for security purposes and place it in a condition that the medium that holding your seed phrase is water proof, rust proof, fire proof and insect or termite proof.  Even if a person has high retentivity, there is always a possibility that he will forget things, so to avoid lost of our Bitcoin due to forgetting the seed phrase it is always best to have another form of back up.

seed phrases are a very important thing for us as crypto users, but to memorize seed phrases I think we can do it but some of us can't do that, then the solution to the problem of seed phrases we can write in several different storage places for example gmail that we can remember and other places that we can always take when we need it, There are actually many ways for us to save seed phrases other than memorization.

It is often said that the bluntest pen is still sharper than the sharpest brain.
While is risky to try to memorize your seed phrase is that sometimes you might just forget a word or mix up the words and that is the end.

Truth, some people have photographic brains, while some do not.
I still think that despite being able to recall your seed phrase from memory, also write and keep it somewhere safe, if possible, have multiple copies.

...Can seed phrase be memorized? It's advisable to memorize seed phrase?

Why don't you try and see if it is possible to remember 12 or 24 words? Of course it is possible, but if you use your brain as storage, then you have to take into account that this storage can be damaged at any time, whether it is due to an accident or some disease that causes memory loss. In addition, keeping such things in your head is not smart for another reason, because someone can use it to find out about them while you are not completely conscious (under the influence of alcohol, drugs).

Why don't you consider uploading it to the cloud?

Don't come here to cry if someone hacks you, and you won't be the first one to have it happen because he thought such things should be kept online. It's one of the worst ways to store seed/private keys, and I hope no one listens to your advice.

Let's be honest, Seed phrases are long and can't be memorized by some common folks that are not used to memorizing complicated words but they can always find a suitable way to remove the harm of losing it. Therefore, just keep in mind to back it up with some sort of a buried treasure where when things are not going well, you can always depend on the paper or whatever things you choose to write your seeds but make sure not to complete it or if you want to, you can use synonyms of the words or whatever suits you, just don't write your seed phrase as spoon feeding so that you can still protect it whenever someone accidentally finds it.

Memorizing a phrase is not a perfect solution because there is no guarantee we will keep it in our memory, if we forget it, there is no chance of recovery. I just wonder, why do you think keeping it away from your loved ones is a solution? when for me, it is the safest way to keep it. Could it be that even your mother, you can't trust her?

Honestly, for those who have no faith, always living in doubt even with their own parents, there is no safe way, everywhere you look there is a risk.

For sure over the years you provably forget what you memorize since for sure you will encounter many words that you need to memorize so to avoid coming to the point that you lose your balance much better if you jut write up your seed phrase on any offline material which is in your position since this much safer than anything available.

If you are worried about fire then make sure that you have easy access unto it where you can easily carry it out when something emergency happen and think about putting it also together with your important documents.

No it's not, as you grow older day by day you will start forgetting some things, seed phrase is not like your Gmail account password, all words have to be in order or you lose access to your Bitcoin.

God forbids, what do you think will happen if an accident occurs that affects the way you think and it's going to take a long time to fully recover? I don't like this idea because I have think about it many times before, it won't work.
