I read that one of the best ways to preserve a seed phrase is to write it on a piece of paper and keep it in a safe place... Somewhere safe could be in your home out of the reach of family members and friends, it could also be a safe deposit box. But not everyone are financially buoyant to afford the services of a deposit box.

I believe we must have seen or heard about fire outbreaks, where buildings are completely erased by fire. Imagine if the owner or occupant of such a building has some Bitcoin assets, and has his/her phone, tablet, laptop and the seed phrase piece of paper in the building and everything was lost to fire. Now, this brings me to the question... Can seed phrase be memorized? It's advisable to memorize seed phrase?
Well, you sure have a point here but i personally would not advice anyone to try to memorize their seed phrase, but even one must do so, do not do it and rule out the writing down and keeping in a safe place tradition, to avoid loosing the seed phrase in the case of fire outbreak, i would suggest we find somewhere around our homes, dig it and bury the seed phrase there after having packaged it in a way it wont be destroyed by heat, cold, rain and earthworms.
This does not stop us from writing one and keeping it safe inside our homes, the one buried outside should act as an emergency recovery if for any reason, the one inside our home is not accessible to us..

Though the above, is for those who can not avoid a safe box.

Yes, your seed phrase can be memorized in fact I would say go for it, if that is what you want. The human brain is susceptible to wear and tear. For instance, the individual who may have memorized the seed phrase may suffer from Amnesia or Dementia.  Therefore, it should only act as a backup after you have secured it in washers and inserted it an airtight container as suggested in the post by fillippone

actually memorizing phrases is better than writing or copying on a piece of paper or a flashdisk, but the level of difficulty memorizing is an obstacle that everyone often faces.
Amongst all the bad choices to store a seed phrase, memorizing it is worst of them all. There is nothing better, easier and safer than writing your recovery phrase on a piece of paper; if you try to invent new and untrusted methods of storing your recovery phrase, you are only shooting yourself in the foot, and moving nearer to locking yourself out of your own money.
if you ask whether it is recommended or not it returns to each individual whether it is necessary or not we memorize it
It isn't an individual thing, it is about the safety of people's money, that is why memorizing a recovery phrase is not recommended for anyone.

It's very risky, I just have to remember it and not write it down on paper because I know I might forget it someday because I don't use it every day. In the early days you can remember it so easily but you don't know if you will still remember it easily a few months later. Forgetting even 1 word you will not be able to access your wallet and it is a nightmare. So, writing it down on paper and keeping it in a safe place is the best choice.

There's no universal best way, it all depends on what kind of threat you think is the most likely. If you worry about other people in your house stealing your coins - you should store your seed or wallet file in encrypted format. If you worry about a house fire and can't get a fire-proof safe - you should find additional place to story a backup of your seed.

Memorizing your seed is a bad backup option, our memory wasn't created to store random data perfectly, even remembering 12 words in order is a challenge for us. How it will look on practice is that even if you have no problems with memorizing it, in the long run you will likely forget parts of your seed, potentially making it unrecoverable.

It really depends on how good your memory is. If you have a bad memory and tend to forget certain things quickly, then I very much doubt your strategy of keeping your seed phrase in your head, will become something with a successful ending.

I personally am quite forgetful and I doubt I could remember my seed phrase for a long time. Maybe I could, maybe I could not, but that's not something I am willing to bet my money on. Better safe than sorry.

If you can memorize seed phrases then do it. But do not rely on your memory only it will be foolish for anyone to do that. Keep them stored in different places, Give one to your mom, give one to your wife, and keep it at your house or other family members' house. There are many practical solutions for that. Not every place will burn with some magical fire.

Don't get panicky about keeping some words or phrases, there are more serious things to worry about.

Yes one can memorize their seed phrase but the truth be told that that it isn't advisable because tye work involved in memorizing seed phrase isn't worth it when there are other more preferable ways to store the seed phrase.
It will be more easier to memorize and recall your email password rather than memorizing a seed phrase and also if it's possible to memorize your email easily then I would advise that the seed phrase be save in the email so it can be easily assessed at any place and at any time.
I will never advise anyone to memorize their seed phrase and I wish all a sensitisation campaign should be held for this too.

Yes!

...
In general, safe deposit boxes keep things of value that anyone can see, then detect and in fact a safe deposit box is a big notice that says "there are things of great value here". But it is something that bitcoin in its simple essence of security protects very well in the simple fact of a few sentences.

In any case, it is a very bad excuse, it is not necessary. On the other hand, how to keep things of great value, even those that have sentimental value from generation to generation, It is difficult, very hard to protect those things because what you mention usually happens but not with a few sentences.

... Can seed phrase be memorized? It's advisable to memorize seed phrase?
Yes.

...  It's advisable to memorize seed phrase?
No... write it down, it's simple.

I doubt you can have it your mind for a very long time, as older as we can get we tend to forget many things, we also begin to forget little by little, our capacity to memorize and retain every single details on our mind gets narrowed. It is better to write it in your notebook or journal or make a thing that will signify the word you are having in your keys. It is good to memorize it but how long can you keep it?

Actually, a deposit box, while good idea for stuff like cash, gold, jewelry etc., can be a bad one for bitcoin, because it pretty much reveals the location of your seed phrase, likely. You can hide better than that. Just be a little more creative, and figure out a place in your apartment or cottage, wherein you can hide twelve words effectively, securely and without betraying you're hiding something valuable.

As stated in the discussion of this thread, there are lots of options to keep and back up our seed phrase so I don't think there is a necessity to memorize your seed phrases in terms of keeping your seed phrases safe.  It is cool to memorize seed phrases but if you happen to have many wallets, can you keep up with this memorize seed phrase thing?  Let us say in a scenario where you have Bitcoin but are also invested in ETH, SOL, BNB, and DOGE, and each has 3 different wallets, the possibility of mixing the seed phrases is too huge so as cool as memorizing seed phrases sounds, I wouldn't recommend to use it as a sole back up of your seed phrases or private key.

I think it is not that easy to memorize seed phase because it is very long it is good if we can memorize it for security reasons but we can still do another simple way to make it safe we can simply copy it and restore to a safe place that no one can see it.

A seed phrase isn't something easy to memorize and we probably forget it in the long term. The best way is to secure it, by writing the seed phrase on a piece of paper, steel plate, or the like. Choose the medium that we think to last a long time!

Put the paper, steel plate, or other media somewhere that we assume it will be the most secure place. But don't put it on a place that we may forget it and it is better to let the closest person knows it. We don't know how long we live! If something happens to us, we need someone to find the seed phrase to access our Bitcoin assets.

I don't see the harm in doing that, but it should not be the primary option for securing it, humans don't have the best memory, you won't even realize that you forgot it until you will need it.

With your seed phrase, you can do whatever you want. So it's up to you whether you want to memorize your seed phrase or write it down on multiple pieces of paper. It's preferable if you have memories, but it would be too difficult for me. If there is a fire and you leave everything on the house, you will lose everything if you can't remember your seed. What if you keep your seed safe somewhere else? Is it any other trusted house or a relative's house that isn't aware of crypto? Or is your office in a secure location? I simply mean keep it in multiple locations where you feel safe. You could even store it underground, where fire cannot destroy it.

It isn't advisable but it should come in handy instead of going to the place where you hide your seeds only to open up your wallet but we shouldn't be confident with how good our memory was, so it is always safe to have a back up. Write it down in something sturdy so that it will survive any hazardous elements. Some vaults are also strong and I think not all of them are expensive, especially the smaller ones.

The only thing that boggles me is that when we say vault. The first thing will then came to our mind is money and other valuable items. Criminals and even the normal person knows this. They will always be after it once they see it so I still prefer to keep my keys in a secret location instead.

Yes, seed phrases can be memorized if you have the ability to do so but it is not advisable to memorize seed phrases particularly if you're men regardless of age, men are more forgetful than women and it is confirmed by researchers.
In the situation of a fire outbreak, there is some metal Bitcoin seed storage which is already been put to different types of tests (crush, corrosion, and heat stress test) by Jameson Lopp.

Better to write them down (without memorizing) on flat sheet of fire-proof metals and bury in multiple places at home inside in the ground where you can easily remember you buried them.
The problem with memorizing is that you can give it away or it can be stolen from you when you are drunk/drugged, in the dream/sleep, subconsciously etc
