This is all about spam. I hate it all.
Currently the worst kind of spam are phone calls advertising.

why even have a newbie status?

I haven't seen one Viagra advert since I've been here, that's why...

K.

LOL!

I can't top that answer.

I'm new here, but I've been a BBS'er and forum rat since, oh, about 1976. I have no problem with a "newbie" section. It's an easy twit filter for the admins, and on a popular forum you NEED an easy twit forum. It gets rid of the easy twits. Unfortunately, that doesn't weed out the hardcore twits, but it does cut down the administrative overhead.

And frankly, 5 posts and four hours ain't shit.

How long do threads like this normally float at the top of the forum?
Don't ask a newbie!

I don't get it, I've been clicking around on different threads while logged in, but it doesn't seem like my time logged in is advancing... Hence, another comment, to see if that helps.

I'm finding the commenting part of being a newbie is WAY easier than the time part...

So in order to get ouf of newbie status we just write something where we have a reply button... seems rather silly...

I think the hilarious parroting of shared opinions in this thread to inflate post-count is absolutely impossible to criticize without becoming part of the very same problem… We’re all here to post, but posting feels so disingenuous in a thread like this as we don’t actually get anywhere.

The worst part is, this post is hypocritical – I wouldn't even bother to comment on the absurdity of this thread if it didn't help me get out of newbie status!

Need to wait 4 hours, thats understandable ... but why 5 post limit :? just need to make some random useless post like this to get out of newbie section. Need to think it through...

Here's my random first post replying to your random first post. Cue Inception music...

It's easy if you know those are the rules. I couldn't find this forum or anything that said 4 hours of browsing/ 5 posts for three days cause I was reading all the cool discussions above this forum. I finally find this folder after scrolling.

WTF, 5 posts and a 4 hours of casual browsing?  It's easy.

It took me three days to find this board. Finally.

It would be great if this board was moved up to the "Bitcoin" section of the message board, so Newbies will SEE it. I was interested in all the talk going on towards the top of the message board, and had no idea I had to scroll down to discover the Newbie section.

I was wondering is it really that hard to get out of newbie status?

Why is the newbie status in place please?
I'm sure there is a reason, but I don't know where to start looking for that reason.
I have learnt quite a bit, thinking about it, but I don't tend to learn very well, in a linear fashion, like reading through things in order. My mind tends to seize up once I try to give it a bit of order and control, so I tend to dip in and out, as if it were a big textbook, and I was dipping in and out of different random pages, depending on what area of expertise I was wanting to learn at that time.
Anyway, this post is in danger of getting boring, so..............Tongue

Took me quite some time to even find this board. The rules wouldn't be so bad if they were posted in a FAQ page linked to the menu so us newbies know what to do. I'm still looking for a reply button... Do you have to quote a post? Is that the only way to reply?

I see several threads at least made every day about how to get out of newbie status and similar things because of the requirement of being online for at least 4 hours while posting at least 5 posts. I was wondering is it really that hard to get out of newbie status?
