You are right that it will not be easy for Polkadot to replace Ethereum because a Huge number of Alt coins have created their smart contracts on Ethereum network that is why there is congestion and we have to pay huge Gas and Transaction fee. Scalability is another issue which Ethereum IT team is trying to resolve but so far no significant improvement has been witnessed. Polkadot works works on Multiple chain concept that is why transactions are executed fast on its network. Polkadot dot has made huge progress during past one year Now it stands on Rank # 4 on coinmatketcap which is great achievement.

There will never be a platform who will be going to kill ethereum. As far as I know that this is already declared that so many times by various platforms to compete with ethereum but they can't even surpass ethereum's mcap.
DOT is only getting short term traction that created the pump. i do believe if the DOT's bullish trend will be ending very soon too.

Well Polkadot is certainly better than Ethereum in many ways but Ethereum has early starter advantage.
It will not be possible for polkadot to beat Ethereum once eth 2 is completely rolled out.
Just like there are better cryptos than BTC but BTC still the king because of its early start advantage.

an all time high of $ 19.32. Even Polkadot's market cap finally made it past XRP, so for now Polkadot is in the top 4 based on the ranking on
the CMC sites.

This has proven that in 2021 Polkadot is increasingly attractive to investors, but to be able to beat Ethereum I'm not sure. Because Ethereum's
popularity is still very high compared to Polkadot, it will take a long time if Polkadot wants to beat Ethereum.

Actually Polkadot organize is still distant from what Ethereum is since the one who made these two is the same individual which makes them comparable to each other. However in terms of ubiquity and number of financial specialists I question that Polkadot might beat the Eth that simple for most speculators would or maybe remain with the one that has as of now an set up establishment rather than attempting a modern one which may put them into hazard for the moment time.

Your prediction was very strong. Polkadot is already in 4th place, next could be third place. Polkadot can't kill Ethereum blockchain, within a few months polkadot hype will be lost as others blockchain. Only a few years ago we compared so many blockchains with Ethereum, but finally only Ethereum blockchain survived.

Yes. Polkadot is attracting investor interest. I don't think it's easy for a new project to get the best position, but Polkadot is able to do it. The price of DOT coins has increased very drastically, even beating the old coins. This is a success for the Polka project.

At the moment, it is obvious that Polkadot technologies and capabilities are becoming as popular as Ethereum technologies and capabilities, so I think that now these two altcoins will compete very strongly with each other and therefore both altcoins will develop even faster, but I do not think that Polkadot can overtake Ethereum at the moment, but in the future everything is certainly possible, so we need to wait a while for Polkadot to gain momentum.

I had almost of same question but later after watching few videos, I understood that it will not be the ether killing coin. Even Gavin too said that Polkadot isn’t going to replace Ethereum. It's kind of sideway for ETH.

You said it very rightly that it is not about superiority of Block chain, every Block chain has its own use case. Polka Dot and Ethereum, both are used to create smart contracts, it is true that Ethereum is very popular coin and it has very strong user base and most of alt coins including DEFis are using its network but it is facing issue of scalability and higher Gas/Transaction fees which is not being resolved despite launching of Ethereum 2.0. When we look at Polkadot it is using Multi chain network, that makes the network very fast and results in lower gas fees. It has made tremendous progress during 2020. Its price jumped from $2 to $ 11. 450% price increase in one year is very impressive and signifies its acceptance as alternative option for creating smart contracts.

There were several good open source project like polkadot but it never had beaten the ethereum network. As far as I know it is the most used network out of others in using smart contracts. Now it in terms of rank it is second and I only saw it became third when XRP got all the way to 1 USD. Now there's no other coin who could've done that as XRP is falling recently.

Polka dot is open-source and it's a very promising project. It's a still young gun, just a few days back listed on the CMC but within these days the value of this coin is growing exceptionally well. It can be a most important competitor but I don't think it can kill ETH through its policy and the technical side are more effective than Polkadot.

who predicted it? although it is true that Polkadot becomes top 3 on coinmarketcap, but Polkadot will never overtake Ethereum which is in the top 2 on coinmarketcap, because rank 1 is Bitcoin and rank 2 is Ethereum, so until anytime this rank will be difficult to replace, although XRP once replaced Ethereum, but it's easy for Ethereum to return its position again (rank 2 on coinmarketcap), so I am sure that nothing will be able to beat or replace Ethereum and besides that for Polkadot to be able to replace or beat Ethereum and get into the top 3 on coinmarketcap, then Polkadot needs a very hard struggle, because there are 7 altcoin that Polkadot has to beat (Polkadot position is currently rank 10 on coinmarketcap).
