Over the years, I read about many good projects which were going to kill Ether, starting with early ones like EOS, Tron, etc. Yet, Ether is still here, still strong and it's not going anywhere.
DOT will not kill or replace Ether. BUT I believe it will grow at least 2-3x in the next 12 months, which is the reason to hold some.

Polkadot already launched and polka parachain is also alive right now. The future will be the same as TRON consider this platform being used for tokenization purpose only. The project that has joined on polkadot just wanna get into the hype. This time they have been forgotten by the investors.

When I read all these, I will just be wondering the fate of those who follows these predictions only to be disappointed at the end. If an upcoming project is good and have the potential to beat whatever existing projects, it is the duty of the team to make it happen through constant Improvements and so on, and these Improvements will be visible to all and sundry. Come to think of it, Ethereum has been there for a very long time, and even till date more projects are still eager to leverage its blockchain not only that, the team are also on top of their game through bringing more upgrades to the blockchain, hence with these and many more, I don't actually think another will beat it.
Lastly, there have been many projects tagged Ethereum killer but instead, they are no where to be found; let the team continue their development so that they can last long term like others but for beating Ethereum, it will be difficult for them.

I don't think so because ETH is the first smart contract platform, which means you can't go against them, maybe the successor will have better development but that won't change that ETH is the main thing about smart contract.

Why does it have to kill ETH? Wasn't Ethereum already killed by Tezos, EOS, Cardano etc.

May be,i say just may be,not just Polkadot claim it is ETH killer, i remember there are a lot of coins is once called the ETH terminator，but where are they now？Actually, I'm pretty optimistic about DOT， i recall i was ever sad for several days when i knew i cant join in the ico of DOT.

That means polkadot really have to work hard in convincing the crypto space to shift away from the over congested ethereum network to their own because despite eth net is over clogged many developers still prefer to use it than rest of the blockchain available that are much better and less congested, eth already taken the lead, i don't think polk can do much to kill it
This is the first time I heard about the project and upon looking at the coinmarketcap it's already top 9. I'm not really sure if today was the best day to invest to DOT but do you think this could be a great project in the future?
Most of the cryptocurrency users haven't even heard about Polkadot. And the OP is claiming that it is going to kill Ethereum. The biggest strength for Ethereum is not its technology. On the other hand, its biggest plus point is its acceptability. Even now, more than 90% of the new tokens are being created in the ERC-20 platform. None of the other platforms can even come close.
Actually OP is referring to possibility of polkadot overtaking Ethereum in future due to its scalability claims and other purported improved features, however I really like your points here. Ethereum's acceptability and already existing projects building on its blockchain is far ahead of any other altcoin. Ethereum developers keep coming up with innovation, hence I doubt if polkadot will be an ETH killer even in future. So many supposed "Ethereum killers" have gone extinct lol, time will tell if DOT has what it takes.

You are absolutely right. Ethereum is a big name( 2nd after BTC )in Crypto space and most of alt coins including DEFIs have been created on Ethereum Network.
Polkadot is exactly doing what Ethereum network does if not better. but at a lower cost. From investment point of view Polka dot has potential to go 10 to 20X so obviously it is a good buy at current price to make huge gain in future.

Seeing that polkadot is having the run of success this previous until as of the moment but if we compare if with ethereum and I dont think that it polkadot can kill the ethereum blockchain but instead it can somehow and someday be the next ethereum if the polkadot will continue to grow as year pass by.
