Polka dot is an open-sauce project that works with shared protocol that enables Blockchain Networks to work with Synergy. The token serves three distinct purposes; Governance, Staking and Bonding. This is designed to co-exist with Leading smart contract Blockchains rather than competing with them. This is very appealing factor for some Investors. It won't be easy for the Polka dot to challenge Ethereum as many working projects are already using Ethereum Network even though Technically it is superior project but  It is already Home of 197 projects those are working on its networks  and many more willing to join it.

This is also evident from price movement that we have witnessed during the past month when its price moved from $2 to almost $6 that reflects great interest of Investors in this token. There are some predictions that within a year time , Dot will be Top 3 on Market cap.
Polka dot is an advanced blockchain project with cross-chain compatibility so that it can also work with ethereum where needed so I would take it positively and I think such projects will take the blockchain technology and crypto market forward.

to be honest, Ethereum is hard to kill, Ethereum's main competitors like Tron and EOS still can't kill it,
especially when Polkadot as we know it is a new project, if it kills Ethereum,
DAPP or the existing ecosystem on Ethereum you have to move to DOT, but unfortunately it's still a dream .

That's it! then why these speculators been talking so impossible here, did they analyze briefly how come they'd able to come up on that certain idea? Well, of course many members of this project is now starting to roll over their mindset and basically a mindset build up has been established. As said killing eth, is hard to do because the community had a strong pillars already.

It's impossible for another smartcontract chain to kill it. This is only a shilling trick while we know that will never happen.
There are some dapps moving again to the ethereum as they can't get the demand from the DOT. It will be useless if you are using the new smartcontract platforms cuased by the hype and it will not have a long term prospect that can affects your platform.

We are just starting our own token sale. We chose Ethereum because the community is bigger than all the rest. This means that it is easier for developers to find solutions to their problems. I think it is very hard to overcome this dynamic. Also the scaling solutions are coming, like SKALE.network that will eliminate gas fees for users. That being said I do believe there is room for other players, that is also healthy for the overall market.

Eth is a branding in Cryptocurrency and the popularity can't be compared I agree polkadot is growing rapidly but it doesn't mean it will overtake Eth.

Without any doubt polkadot is a tremendous project with new features but now eth 2.0 will be the next hot topic in couple of days. When Eth was booming people were talking about it will overtake BTC, same applies now here, all people need is a safe and secure project I think polkadot would take years to level ETH.

Polkadot project can be a worthy competitors to EOS and Neo but not Ethereum, Ethereum isn't the only old smart contract project standing so tall and most new smart contract projects haven't defeat those smart contract projects  under Ethereum like EOS, Stellar or Neo, let them accomplish that first
EOS, DOT and NEO were working on the same field. These platforms are almost impossible to compete with ethereum. So many innovations already made by those platforms but again they can't even attract the new developers to use the tokenizations there.
that reminds me with lisk, waves that claimed to be the ethereum killer. I  feel that the position that owned by ethereum will be last forever.

For this, Ethereum has to descend to the Polkadot level. Those are two different technologies that would never compete on technicalities, but could complement each other. IMO, Ethereum might use Polkadot's cross-chain solutions if a better option were not found .

i am prefer to said polkadot will be serious competitor  but it will not killing ethereum. if we look on how much project based on polkadot at this time its very small  although we know its still too early  .but if we look at interesting rate of polkadot platform , its still very far with ethereum if compared peer to peer. we could analize it , on how much new project that use eth or polkadot platform in market.

There is no question that there is a possibility for any emerging blockchain tech to be and Ethereum killer but the question would be how huge is that possibility.  Polkadadot can possibly be a threat for Ethereum but I don't think that it is right now.  I think it will take sometimes and some condition where Polkadot will take over ETH,  If those condition is met then we can see it happen, if not, then there is no way polkadot will beat ETH.

have EOS, stellar, Waves, Cardano, and Tron killed ethereum now?
of course not, Ethereum is still the best today.
then why do you think Polkadot can do that. Polkadot does have a good advantage. but the project is still new. still need years of support and development to become one of ethereum's competitors. so there's no way polka dots can beat ethereum.

I think it is not about killing, but it could compete with ethereum as we know that everything can be possible in the crypto market. But polkadot needs time before the coin can compete with ethereum. The project itself still a new project which requires more development and has a chance to compete with ethereum and other coins. But ethereum will not let that happen, and with the update from the ethereum project, it could give more chances for ethereum to get more investors.
competing and killing are not that far from each other but it was a few distance away . polkadot is gaining a momentum now and if this continue it can be a competitive coin next to eth and if it manage to overtake eth chances are that eth can be in danger and worst it will be got killed by this coin but on the competition between them eth still takes the lead by introducing its new eth 2.0 , this leaves polkadot a few mile . eth 2.0 has a staking service that requires 32 eth and you could be right that this can drive more investor in the platform .

But still, it will be difficult for polkadot to compete with ethereum as ethereum has already got a name in the crypto world. Maybe the next year will be a good time for polkadot to raise the price and update their project so that the polkadot can get more investors. It is not easy to compete or beat the old coins if the project doesn't have something that can be the other benefits. We will see how polkadot is competing with ethereum, and we need to have the patience to see what will happen later.

Killed ethereum? I don't think that will ever happen. It's true that polkadot were impressive a few months ago with price increases of more than 100%. But of course it's not just that popular polkadot can continue to kill ethereum.
Polkadot has some good investors behind it existence and some institutions but that doesn't make it a killer sword to ethereum, becasue this project has real world usability. Ethereum has done wonderfully well when we talk about altcoins, we all know ethereum to be the king of altcoins and not just pump and dump project. The rate at which the Polkadot price moved some months back clearly shown that it's not a project that's likely to overrun ethereum in my view.

I'm not quite sure why would it kill Ethereum, it might be true that it is a competitor of Ethereum but it doesn't mean that it will kill Ethereum for what I've know it's impossible as you can see the Ethereum release a 2.0 which improves most of its feature.

In these days, projects are coming and calling they are Ethereum Killer! Really! Near, Cardano, Polkadot all are calling themselves an Ethereum Killer. It isn't easy. Nowadays Ethereum fees are high. Though people didn't move from Ethereum. Those who called themselves Ethereum Killer now dying.

Nothing new! We had so many similar topics here... NEO, Stellar, BNB... and Ethereum is surviving and making progress! I don't know how to call this kind of topics, it's FUD and spam in the same time! But actually for people who have some knowledge about crypto they find this kind of topics silly! And if projects base their marketing on "next BTC" and "next Ethereum" are most likely short term projects!
I can't say anything about Polkadot, I see that project name around, but I didn't read more about them and I didn't invest! For now, I will stick to my Ethereums!

Polkadot very good project, but I don't think it can compete with Ethereum in the near future. However, if Ethereum does not have significant improvements, people will start switching to Polkadot more active this is a fact.

When a project comes on the market and they try to do something good, there is a lot of discussion about that project. So I don't know how reasonable it is to compare the project with another hugely popular project. We also want more good projects to come in the market so that one can compete with the other.

I don't understand how it can kill eth. Its kind of extreme word people use to define things that can be explained with more sensible word. You probably meant if it would replace eth which is not going to happen. Dot has his own base of support group and they use different technology than eth, eth is much more grounded and has more support. However, it was surprising that 2.0 didn't effect its price the way many people were expecting. Does it mean it is moving towards btc level with its volatility?
