Much as we know that the government functionaries are not always sincere, but they are having what seems to some as a "divine" mandate. (Rom. 13: 1 - 7) So the controls they put in place is actually not out of place. However, there are extreme situations especially in the countries with extreme religious practices. You will find the government activity really appealing in such circumstances reported in this article. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jayadkisson/2018/01/29/bitcoin-cryptocurrency-and-the-government-regulation-paradox/#622820253531. If you are on the other side of the story, you will appreciate what the government is doing.

But as said in earlier posts, you are safe because of blockchain and cryptocurrency because no one can touch your asset kept in your wallet. The only thing is to restrict your access to the internet which is remote.

It's not that scary if you think positive to the government. Government's rules are meant to protect their people, they don't want to let their country become worse because something that causes the economy to become much worse. If it makes the country goes better, I'd rather go with it.
If you think so then what are you doing on a bitcoin forum? You need to use only Fiat and support all government initiatives. If all people will have such thoughts then they will make a 90% tax. Everyone will live in the hostel and work seven days a week. After retirement, commit suicide. This is the dream of most governments.

Many people say the government is not interested in cryptocurrency. Many people think the government has prohibit
crypto to protect investors from risks. Maybe in your country, that's true. But in some countries, especially developing countries, the government just wants to rob your assets. They rob publicly, lawfully and as much as possible. they are really bandits.I'm not afraid what they do. Because we have many ways to fight them. But this world is not as simple as you think. They can kill you if you are demonstrating.
You can ask any vietnamese that : Do you support your government ? I bet 99% answer is never. 1% remaining I'm sure they are goverment employee or their family. Wink
The greatest issue with governments is they have gotten too powerful, fiat currency has allowed them to steal from the wealth of their citizens for too long, that is the main reason they fear and hate bitcoin because it is going to take that power away from them and when it does governments will have no option to become way smaller and they will never recover their former glory.

Yes it is scary because governments has the power to ban cryptocurrencies. But before they will ban it they will consider if what will the effect of banning crypto. Crypto is a big help and it will improve our community.

how else would that be? indeed the government is one of the holder of power as well. surely we are afraid of how the development of crypto in the future. because the crypto can not be traced and taken over by every country. so if you want to get involved it is quite difficult.

They only do that because they think the crypto currencies are a threat to their community and will try to protect their people from it.

When the system is faulty (capitalism, fascism, socialism, communism etc) there is no way the leader can be trust-able, that also means corrupted leader are the ones that will use his power in the government to institute whatever he want

Government will not kill people who are using cryptocurrency because some of the government employees are also a hodlers, they can prohibit you from investing but not to the point of killing you. We all know billionaires are slowly adopting the technology so obviously they have the connections to the government. Don’t be scared, government will adopt this later on.
Yes I agree on this. The good government will not harm us unless we are doing illegal that could harm humanities. But as long as we are just eaning a living peacefully and without harming others then we must not be afraid.

This is the case in many countries. But I would like to ask you what you were doing in the election? Every nation deserves a government for which it votes. In order for you to be able to use cryptocurrencies without restrictions, you must unite and require politicians to fulfill your requirements. Everything else is just a concussion.

Key word for what you ask is "control", governments around the world as one of the main objectives have control of people. This control implies all possible ways of monitoring, collecting data and much more, I think it's enough to read what it has published in public by Edward Snowden former CIA employee. In that documents you can see that NSA is working from 2013 ( maybe even earlier ), on tracking BTC users with highly specialized programs they develop. Most big countries in the world do the same thing far from the public eye, democracy and freedom exist mostly on paper.

They are very afraid of cryptocurrency and especially BTC, decentralized currency for people - no fees for banks, no tax and control of total supply - I think this is the biggest nightmare for them.

We have a reason to be afraid of cryptocurrencies as they favor banks--the enemy of decentralization, that is the core of most of the cryptos. They are also a threat to exchanges like what happened in china.

As we can see, governments are really scared to bitcoin. First, government cannot control its own economic growth. Secondly, they also scared about the security and safety of bitcoin, whch can lead to many cryptocurrency to rob. They cannot make cryptocurrency to be legalized. A lot of crypto or altcoins are invented day by day.

The answer will be different, depends on your country. I wouldn't say my government (Indonesian) is a bandit and robbing people assets. I don't see the whole government as one bad party. There are people working for the government who use their power to take advantage of others: corruption, embezzlement, nepotism, etc. but they do it individually, for the sake of their own. There are also good people in the government who work with their heart, honestly contributing to their country and the people.

The reason government not regulating crypto is reasonable and I understand why they don't make it legal yet. Crypto is a new thing, a technological breakthrough with a potentially big impact on the world economy. Regulating these things take time and my country isn't the one who likely take the first lead to regulate crypto. As long as the govt is not prohibiting crypto ownership and exchange, I'm good.

To be honest governments have no business with the crypto currencies and their transaction but still they can influence it from exchanges and threatening the citizen with high taxes or severe punishment so people will get scare to use crypto currencies. But we have full right to use the cryptos if we already have it because they cant track our transafction if we don't have reveal our wallet address to public.
They can really make any regulations about cryptocurrency, we should accept the fact that we cannot escape from the government forever because they will make ways to run with us. The government loves to collect taxes, so if this market grow more in the future expect a higher regulations, but we should not be scared instead show them the true meaning of this technology.

Oh that is really true. The government can be scary sometimes. But I don't blame the government a little bit or even if I do just a small percentage of blame. I push all the blame to the media that transcends false information about blockchain technology and bitcoin. Its about time we pay less attention to false news from the media.
