Well, to be fair to Romania, it was not Hitler's ally by its own volition.

On the other hand, "Russia is threatening the eastern block with it's gas". Do you mean, "asking for the debt for already-delivered gas to be paid". Or did you mean something else that slipped my attention? Last time I checked Lithuania got quite a good gas deal with Russia. So did Poland.

And what "Eastern block" are you talking about? Don't forget, you are now NATO. Wink

No , I was talking about threatening with cutting the gas supply.
Romania has no debts and it never went overdue with the payment.

But there is always a stupid  russian with too much vodka on board and to high in the the government that threatens to cut the gas with no reasons , just to show "how might" the russian empire is.

That doesn't help too much.

How's that? Shocked

In 1940, Romania's territorial gains made following World War I were largely undone. In July, after a Soviet ultimatum, Romania agreed to give up Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina. Two thirds of Bessarabia were combined with a small part of the Soviet Union to form the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic. The rest (Northern Bukovina, northern half of the Hotin county and Budjak) was apportioned to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic. Shortly thereafter, on 30 August, under the Second Vienna Award, Germany and Italy mediated a compromise between Romania and the Kingdom of Hungary: Hungary received a region referred to as "Northern Transylvania", while "Southern Transylvania" remained part of Romania. Hungary had returned all of Transylvania after World War I in the Treaty of Trianon. On 7 September, under the Treaty of Craiova, Southern Dobruja (which Bulgaria had lost after the Romanian invasion during the Second Balkan War in 1913), was ceded to Bulgaria under pressure from Germany.

I think this clears any doubt about "own volition".

Also I was replying to Bryant comment and his line:

"As long as the Eastern Europeans are OK with the American military presence on their soil, I am not complaining. "

edit:
added this:

On 8 October German troops began crossing into Romania. They soon numbered over 500,000.

On 23 November Romania joined the Axis powers.

Although Wikipedia is wrong about this , the troops started crossing into the new Romanian borders only at the begging of November , but still before romania actually joined the axis.

Obama pledges more troops & military drills in Eastern Europe

Oh... there will be no shortage of money. The US defence budget is more than $600 billion. So this is less than 1% of that. As long as the Eastern Europeans are OK with the American military presence on their soil, I am not complaining.

Following the remarks of that stupid russian minister with his bomber and the way Russia is threatening the eastern block with it's gas I want to let you know that the attitude here in Romania has shifted from 50/50 fuck the usa/russia to 10/90.

After the rt propaganda that the Romanian army will be obliterated in 30 minutes the arrival of more us fighters  as well as 6 canadian jets on our soil has been for the first time well received by the public..

Talking about shooting yourself in the foot

No one actually cares about Romania and its army here (lol, I agree with your comment about that stupid Russian minister if you mean Rogozin), though we didn't forget that Romania was Hitler's ally and it happened to get off cheap... Cool

The reason for adding to the ignore list wasn't ideas: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.7104054
(since I'm ignoring these posts, I'm not shore, but I think it was this)

But there are things and people that don't deserve further comment.

The worst of this crisis it's almost over I dare to think. There is no way any escalation will happen that will trigger a mass intervention and from that a war..

And nobody in the west is willing to start a war , a war for what?
We have other things to think about that going to war and see our towns in flame once again.

While I agree with you from a human point of view that a war in this case would be pointless, some bankers and natural resource magnates might disagree.

Obama's and Rassmussen's rhetoric has been escalating. I hope it will all remain just that: words.

It's astonishing how certain members do believe they will help russian cause or will get anything else, beside losing credibility, by spreading blatant lies.

Ah, yes, and I just added a stalinist to my ignore list. Smiley

You shouldn't add anyone to your ignore list (I hope I'm not there yet, lol). You forget that this decreases your opportunities to legitimately increase your post count... Roll Eyes

My ignore list is empty, by the way! Grin

Adding somebody to our ignore list based on his beliefs is plain wrong.
Ignoring his way of thinking and his reasons for posting makes you not that much better.

Adding somebody on your ignore list because he spams one link at a time every minute is understandable , like I did with 247crypto.

Obama pledges more troops & military drills in Eastern Europe
http://rt.com/news/163320-obama-poland-troops-europe/

Just in case any of the Eastern-European countries thought that they are slipping from the democratic path and need to be corrected.

And this:
Quote
In line with the US’ plans, Congress will provide up to $1 billion to finance the deployment of more troops and equipment.

Quote
"Given the situation in Ukraine right now, we have also increased our American presence. We've begun rotating additional ground troops and F-16 aircraft into Poland... to help our forces support NATO air missions," said Obama, calling the commitment to NATO allies in Europe “the cornerstone of our own security.”

I've spent some years here. Chechens were here, but they were only a minority. From ~100 of neighbour families maybe 3 or 5 were chechens.

Btw, it's strange but despite restrictions in the quran, the most of room thieves, illegal harvesters and drunks were chechens. I remember that my granddad always had kept a hunting rifle in the house, he used it to keep thieves away.

Another interesting case, due to which my grandfather got a criminal record and was expelled from the party.

He rode home from the store and saw a drunken Chechen on the road. He swerved, trying to avoid hitting and went into the oncoming lane, but drunk ran in the same direction... As a result, hitting has occurred on the oncoming line. Criminal case and 2 years of probation in the result.

Actually, I've never heard any exact numbers of dead chechens or russians. The most of christian population have left a country when these saudi ballsuckers have appeared there with their "true islam". But it would't surprise me if these numbers will be correct, given that they have poisoned city's water supply twice.

Hmm.. what makes me mad is that the ethnic Russians were driven off even from some of the districts which never had a Chechen population (such as the raions of Naursky and Shelkovskoy). These districts were originally part of the Stavropol Krai, but were transferred to the Chechen Republic by Stalin in order to increase the Russian population there. Now the Chechens have completely replaced the native population there, just like what happened in North Kazakhstan.

I lived in Chechnya in the beginning of 1990s, my grandfather family had a manor there. He was forced to sell it at 1/10 of real price to chechens. So dear trolls, please eat the own shit instead of trying to open your dirty mouth.

Sad to hear this.

Could you please confirm my post?

"Rough estimates show that between 30,000 and 40,000 ethnic Chechens have died in the republic in both campaigns," he said, according to the Itar-Tass news agency, adding that about 100,000 of the dead were ethnic Russian servicemen and civilians.

Come on, you seem a reasonable person, those numbers don't make any sense.

Those numbers makes perfect sense for anyone who is having at least basic education. Some 40% of the ethnic Russian population in Chechnya died during the conflict, while more than half had to flee the republic as refugees.

Do you really believe that russians were the major part of the dead (I know they were discriminated and even persecuted by the chechens)?

You know, the keyboard warriors may think otherwise, but anyone who knew the ground situation will agree with those figures. Even prior to the war officially started, there was a concentrated campaign in Chechenya against the non-Chechen minorities living there. And most of the civilian casualties occurred in Grozny, where the ethnic Russians constituted for the majority of population. And a lot of the rebel deaths were among foreign fighters from Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan.

"At the end of the Soviet era, ethnic Russians (including Cossacks) comprised about 23% of the population (269,000 in 1989)."

"According to some Russian sources, from 1991 to 1994 tens of thousands of people of non-Chechen ethnicity (mostly Russians, Ukrainians and Armenians) left the republic amidst reports of violence and discrimination against the non-Chechen population"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chechnya#Demographics

So, that report is saying that 37% of the original number of Russians of Chechnya were killed, even taking in account that tens of thousands fled before 1994.

But the chechens that in 1989 were 734,000 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chechen–Ingush_Autonomous_Soviet_Socialist_Republic#Demographics), only had 30,000 to 40,000 casualties, including combatants and civilians.

Come on, you seem a reasonable person, those numbers don't make any sense.
