Putin wasn't head of state in 2008. So, this pic looks strange for me. It seems that somebody suffer from putinphobia, at the terminal stage. Roll Eyes

In 2008 he was a "national leader"! Do you remember that leaked video where Medvedev tells Obama to pass Obama's words to Vladimir? Grin

^^^ The West has been trying to overthrow Putin for almost a decade now, so far unsuccessfully. They want a weak leader to become the president of Russia (someone like Boris Yeltsin), so that they could control him.

Sweet Irony:

Slovakia, which borders Ukraine, rejects any deployment on its territory because of memories of the 1968 Soviet-led invasion that crushed the “Prague Spring” loosening of restrictions on freedom, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said yesterday.

Whatever pro-NATO statements the Slovak politicians make in the public, they are very careful not to alienate Russia. Remember the US proposal for reverse flow of natural gas through Slovakia. The Slovaks rejected that proposal, citing some lame excuses. They are clever. They knows that there is nothing to gain from embracing the past.  Grin A clever Slovak politician should exert his pound of flesh from both the Americans and the Russians.

The more I read the news the more unease I feel:

More jets and warships: US increasing military presence in Black Sea
http://rt.com/usa/163936-us-increasing-military-black-sea/

Quote
According to Reuters, Hagel said President Obama’s $1 billion fund would allow for a "stronger presence of U.S. ships in the Black Sea," and that the plan would mean a consistent stream of rotating vessels in the region.

"We will sustain that tempo going forward,” he added.

"Given the situation in Ukraine right now, we have also increased our American presence. We've begun rotating additional ground troops and F-16 aircraft into Poland... to help our forces support NATO air missions,

Well, the steps needed to invade a country, which can give significant resistance would be:
1) Neutralise that country's defensive/retaliotary mechanisms (PARTIALLY DONE - Missile "defence" in Europe, but more needs to be deployed)
2) Disparage and paint that country in black (DONE)
3) Create a conflict at that country's doorstep to justify the next step (DONE)
4) Gradually pull your troops to that county's borders without raising to much alarm (ALMOST DONE)
5) Bonus: Get that country to pull it's troops from the border (DONE)
6) Instigate a large-scale provocation to allow you to "retaliate" (STILL TO COME)
7) Invade at will (STILL TO COME)

Hagel is currently swinging through Romania, a NATO member that has urged the US to increase its presence in Eastern Europe in the wake of the Ukraine conflict and Russia’s accession of Crimea. Since then, the country has been a part of joint military exercises with American forces and has promised to increase its own defense spending.

That's what you get when you talk about sending bombers.

There was actually a request from both sides in the romanian government for more troops to be deployed in Romania and as well as protection for Moldova.

And for the first time there was no opposition like when the base at Deveselu was planned or when the first planes arrived at Kogalniceanu
It's the first time the public is happy with foreign troops on our soil.

Ps there was another article on how the romanian army will only last 30 minutes in case of a russian attack..
How nice from the peace loving russians to think of this scenario

Will there be a wall in between by any chance? This plan sounds sounds familiar

Considering the amount of mutual hatred existing between the Easterners and the Westerners, I'd say that constructing a wall is absolutely necessary to prevent any further clashes between the two sides.  Grin

I think it's a bit odd to see such an intensification in the build-up of weaponry in the Baltic area and on Russia's Eastern border just happening to coincide with Mr Putin's trip to D-Day celebrations. Is someone aiming for a coup in his absence? It's obvious that global tactical regime change is the agenda of the decades. I presume VVP has an exit strategy.

More to the topic of my opening post, I came across an interesting article to the effect of conquering Russia in 1812 and dividing the territories that are now Ukraine effect (it seems to be Google-translated from Polish):

Grey - give to Poland
Yellow - new country, Napoleonida
Green - Chernigov county
Red - Poltava county
Light-grown - undivided

And if not they get some useless ships

They are not just some useless pieces of metal. The Mistral class amphibious assault ship is one of the best of its kind. Also, the deal with France is mutually beneficial to both the nations, as 60% of the building work will be completed in Russia.

Why the hell is might advanced ultra developed Russian army buying weapons from the no experience piece of garbage weapon manufacturer France?
Because corrupt (maybe?) minister of defence have signed this deal. Yep, that's stupid because there is no sense in such ships for Russia. These ships are useful only when you want to conquer the small african country, otherwise they're tactically useless.

So Russia wins both if France denounces the deal (as such ships are useless for the Russian navy plus possible fines) and if it succeeds in brushing off the NATO requests (sanctions are shown to be shallow and not effective), lol... Cool

And if not they get some useless ships that in case of an war might fire in their own troops and pay a shitload of money for it.
Just like the greeks ended up with those Germans subs when they didn't have money for wages.

What are you referring to? What's happened to those German submarines, they all went belly up? Cool

Guess I've drawn my comparison too far.German things are not what they were a few decades ago when talking about cars but when it comes to industrial robots or military stuff they still make some pretty decent stuff.

No , it was just about spending funds when you have other needs. Why the hell did the Greeks order two submarines when they have a debt nobody has a clue how to pay ?

Same with Russia , same with Romania same with the US.Why purchase fighters or ships when at the first sign of conflict half of the military personnel has no will to fight for your damn government.
Reminds me of a joke that is continuously told here for the last 30 or 40 years.

How to fix the economy? We should declare war to the us or germany and after one hour surrender Smiley.
