Genuine question- do you think it is about time that the forum makes another "leap of faith" where it can improve on certain aspects and conveniences?

For example, one of the biggest jump that the forum made was the introduction of the merit system where it became controversial yet beneficial in combatting spams and bots on this forum. Additionally, the other big jump was the total banning and prohibition of mixers that caught a few off-guard but it was for the long-term improvement of the forum.

Do you think that creating a friendly "mobile" version of this forum or at least something interesting (e.g. a chat box, or any kind of improvement, etc.) would at least attract more users and entice the old members to stay relevant?

I also do think that we are now on the point of diminishing return- people are leaving and lots of spams and repetitive posts are being recycled. I genuinely think that it is about time that something must be introduced whether it be an improvement or a new system.

I feel that times do changed and the more the year passes by, people's interest change giving way to the old and allowing the new ones come into the circle.

I guess there was once upon a time when the current quality posters we have on the forum were new and only made contributions that's in line with there level of knowledge and now they've grown in the system and others like us have joined behind and are still building our knowledge to the best of our abilities. I feel that it's a natural situation that's not just peculiar to this forum but also plays out in life in general.

The ban on mixer obviously played some role in the forum most expecially during it's early time but I don't think that's the main reason for a possible decline on the quality of topics we have on the board. I'm a regular visitor of my Nija local board, the speculation board and the beginers and help and to be very honest, the quality of post in each of these boards have improved better than they were at the time i become more active in the forum. The beginners and help board hasn't had lots of post that's like "I'm new here, I needed this help and I need that help". for those that are good at technical topics, it's understandable if some of the topics seems to be of low quality but it all goes to show the mix of knowledge we have on the forum.

As long as new people keep joining the forum almost on a daily bases, the quality of post will always be a mixture of low quality post and some sort of technical and high quality post. If we're hoping that this forum will join in playing a great role in Bitcoins adoption, then we have to face the reality that this kind of mix will always exist in the forum.

Now, to that, add that we've lost valuable members, some of which were intellectually influential, and you have an Internet board filled with mostly crap. What's the problem?

The quality of the forum is defined by the people that exists within, their contributions as well as what their intent is.

Should the absence of mixers count towards any decline in having some users leave the forum, I hope it not be directly linked with not having to earn from certain promotions as, that would mean a loss to them. On the context of having the forum bend in some way, that I would see some reason but even more so, the forum is hosted in somewhere and it’s got to play by certain rules as, individuals are tied to it somehow.

From time to time, there would always be this and that shift but, there haven’t been unprecedented decline of users, we’ve still got so much quality to be proud of and it all depends on where your looking.

One of the Iconic exit was that of Lauda, it was the first but, hardly due to the fact that anything was just going to happen like the banning of mixers but, just an old timer haven’t spent a good memorable years here and chose to take a bow respectfully while ensuring the ID Lauda keeps its reputation and yet an emotional one from Leo. People really do love here just because they want to and it’s hardly based on that ban or that decision from the administration.

When there's a trending topic, people tend to start topics in relation to that
True, and also, if the trending topics or events are not so many, the few that are happening will be talked about a lot because that is where almost everyone is paying attention.

If there are more events, there will be more topics to discuss.

Every trending Bitcoin discussion and development seems to be on X these days, I remember searching for the current attack on non-custodial and privacy by the US government on the Bitcoin discussion board and I didn't find anything related but took me only a few seconds to get all the info I needed on X and Reddit.

well many people write here solely for monetary gain from signature, and then when the manager has really strict rule to write something in a sub which there is nothing new to write, people are expected to write a low quality post

Chances of getting into a signature campaign is slim if you're not active on the gambling section these days, contributing to the low activities on other sections of the forum.

Indeed, but most "talked" discussion here are more forum related (recent mixer bans, events, etc.) outside topics can be discussed anywhere aside from here — Reddit and X (Twitter).

We're dealing with uninteresting topics. The "hottest" topic of discussion in the last months is Ordinals, followed by ETFs, and then an endless list of speculation-related threads, which were always a "thing" in the past, but gosh, that just seems like our sole concern nowadays.

My response to this is that it's just this topics turn and this too will pass
It could be that everyone is experiencing a momentary lapse in creativity to create topics outside the current events, which can happen,

I don't want to correlate this forum's comedown with the mixer ban, even though I've thought of it and it's likely one major factor, but what's the current picture of Bitcointalk according to you? To me, it's declining in genuine interest.

How many users were participants of mixer campaigns? How can just a few users not having a campaign contribute to the forum getting worse. Don't you think it should be more than mixers getting ban and if really it's because of the mixers then it means we don't have that much real active uses on the forum as we are thinking but just a few hundred (considering it was just few hundreds that were participants of the mixers running their signature campaign on the forum). If the mixer ban reduce people engagement on the forum then so be it because at least now we'll be having genuine discussions and not people forcing it because they want to get paid.

When there's a trending topic, people tend to start topics in relation to that as there'll be more contributions and engagement to the topic because everybody is hearing/talking about it.

Yes, we have lost so many valuable members this year, some of them left us because of chronic diseases while others left this forum and world. I remember the times when Leo was a great part of this forum but now I hope where ever he is, he should be in good health. And, we also lost members like Light Warrior who used to be quite good at finding scammers and spammers.

The mixer ban has also contributed adversely to the current state of the forum and we all know what happened after that ban. Now, the privacy related services are facing tough times and that's also inversely affecting the forum and its members. I believe we still have some good and valuable members who are still active on this forum and who actively contribute good stuff here. But, not sure what the future holds for us.

This is a problem, but obviously we cannot solve this problem because it is a problem presented by nature. People must come and go.
Satoshi isn't here anymore;
Lazlo the pizza guy is no more here;
The I AM HODLING guy is no longer here;
And many more. Yet, the forum is still active.

When I was a newbie, I was looking upto people like;
Welsh;
LoyceV;
DdMrDdMr;
o_e_l_o_e;
DANNYHAMILTON;
Franky1
And others about the bitcoin technicals. Some are no longer active. Today BlackHatCoiner is a big name that newbies will look up to. People come and go, although the quality might decline but there must surely be one person(s) filling the gap. Few months ago, you nearly left, but surprisingly you made a u-turn, so we can be confident that some guys that left might come back. Let's see if the bull run can do this for us.

It's logical if the hottest topic of discussion in the last months is Ordinals and ETFs, these two things are booming all over the world. When someone paints a pixelated dumb ape or dog or whatever dumbest thing it is and then they sell it for millions of dollars and get a money that's enough for comfortable life, everyone will definitely ask asking, what's life, how is that possible, why does the welder gets less money than the guy who drew pixelated staff and for sure, that becomes the hottest topic.

Yes, it's really noticeable when users like o_e_l_e_o leave, he was a super competent guy who always had the correct answer on every question, he is a huge loss. This forum needs to attract people like him but this forum is getting worse in terms that it's not upgrading software and user interface and young generation will probably completely ignore it, i.e. that will result in downfall.
At the moment I don't think that the situation is terrible, I only notice that o_e_l_e_o is not here but besides this, there isn't any significant worsening of the situation, this forum is still quite good, different and unique from others, I especially love the trust system here and the ability that businesses care about their reputation on this forum and many problems have solved because of this. Forum needs to use its own budget and upgrade and then things will go well.

They said that you won't know what some people's have contributed to this forum until after they have left, and when some of the people's stated that, I was not believing, but now I'm 100% agree with that. Because since the time they banned those mixers, this forum just hasnn't attracted well, unlike before when the mixers still existed in this wonderful forum and everything was moving steadily. Now,  if we look at this forum, there's a lot of good topics, like before, when everyone only chose and created any thread they wished.

But if I may ask, are only those mixers that have contributed good threads for this forum? Why I am confused is that after they get banned, they are supposed to continue from where they stopped and begin contributing better threads and the importance things that this forum deserves, but nothing like that is the only thing that has been surprising me about this forum.

The incentive to post was a bit of motivation for some users, and it resulted in more activities and higher-quality discussions. The competition to be enrolled in such a campaign was high, so I would say the mixer ban had an impact on post activity because some reputable members who were posting more no longer post as much.

Aside from that, some of these mixers' participants are also making posts in the altcointalk forum, so they are no longer posting everything here.

What I consider is, we can't compare how the forum was 10 years ago to how it should be now, it a natural cause of changes that occur, new members coming in to replace others who retire with a different view from the old members. It just circulate within this, it not worst we can use the word boring. The only remedy is just us coming together to uphold the original value of the forum, attribution of this fates won't add any value.
Just like most old members just chill in wall street observers and not check threads to also share views with upcoming members, we ain't sure wether 10 years from now, we will still be active in this forum so I can't say it getting worst, it a normal phase, and even Bitcointalk has stood out among forums in the world it applaudable.

Facebook is always changing stuff. Changing the UI, changing-adding-removing features etc. bitcointalk has only made a few minimal additions
Facebook and other social media have only one goal: earning money. It's safe to assume every change they make it designed to keep people hooked, not to actually improve the user experience.
I blocked social media from my hosts file years ago, and don't regret it.

I can’t say what I want to say about facebook. I will say the scroll is terrible.

Many people think facebook (which I stopped using more than 10 years ago) is completely crap compared to what it was 15 years ago and they are right about it but there is a difference between facebook and bitcointalk.

Facebook is always changing stuff. Changing the UI, changing-adding-removing features etc. bitcointalk has only made a few minimal additions (like the merit system) in the last 10 years and that’s actually one of the features I like about btt. I don’t like websites that change their look all the time.

If there is one thing I like about btt, it is how it kept its current look. I probably won’t like any changes they’ll ever make and I still use the old.reddit for the same reason.

I would like to joke that many big websites are actually getting worse and worse, but not because of looks or aesthetics or unpopular decisions or anything, but because the stuff just keeps breaking. But then I don't think that would really be much of a joke at all.

Somehow it is becoming very easy for a website to have an outage. It is almost like websites are made of glass or something. And I'm not even talking about attacks or anything. Just operational crashes.

So what will happen to the forum's reserves if there is no continuous development? +500 Bitcoin is enough to make the forum better.

I may ask him about this soon.

Sure, I don't mind the idea of making the forum "better" so long as it doesn't change the look and layout. Why?, you may ask. Because when people come here to read satoshi's old posts, I think they would prefer to read them in the same format in which they were written. It lends more credence to the idea that they were actually his posts. For me, this is where the true value of the forum lies.

If anything, I think it would be neat to be able to design a mobile version of Simple Machines Forum from scratch, from the ground up. It is true that most internet traffic is mobile these days, and it ain't so easy to read the forum from a mobile device.

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
Yes there were lots of spam, lots of account farmers but now I see that was part of the fun. Catching all those scammers/farmers were creating lots of post activity&drama.

Now there are (probably) no cheaters, there is no drama, and almost zero activity.
okay... Lemme get this straight; do you really wanna go back to the old times, when the forum had alot of trash post that you'd have to sort your way through just to find an interesting topic? Huh? I thought we all saw the incessant spamming/bounty cheating as a threat that could recreate an unruly and discoordinated forum?.. if you're serious about this (and if it's not just your usual way of joshing on substantial issues) That would mean the fight against all odds to eliminate spam was a mere formality to you?.
As I look at it now I realize forum members have earned millions in btc via signatures ending signatures is not the answer. Accepting the reality that BTC and all other coins are old news and less people are interested in the forum because it is repetitive.

A time will surely come, where companies would either pay smidgens & cents for signature promotions or assume BTT as not fit enough to provide the desired traffic.
TIME!!
It's a major determinant for everything under the sun.
