A recent global survey conducted by National Geographic shows that the worlds fastest growing religion is not Islam or Christianity, but no religion at all – atheism. The study comes in conjunction with Nat. Geo’s new television series “The Story of God” starring Morgan Freeman which travels the world chronicling religious beliefs practiced by different cultures. With the global headlines dominated by the Islamic State, Islamic immigration throughout Europe/Africa and recent religious freedom laws passed in the United States, to the untrained eye it would appear that religion is as strong as ever – but you would be mistaken. In fact just the opposite is occurring and the age old paradigm of piety is quickly shifting.

The study refers to atheists as “religious nones” or people who do not follow or identify with any religion. According to the results, atheism is now the second largest religious affiliation in North America and the majority of Europe. In the United States alone approximately 22.8% of the population now identifies as atheist, up 6.7% from 2007. Furthermore, U.S. atheists now represent a larger portion of the population than Catholics, Protestants, and all other followers of non Christian faiths – such as Islam and Buddhism. This was not the case only a decade ago

All religion will be banned when The Lord and King Jesus Christ returns on earth. OP, make sure you will belong to him when He returns.

But even before that, the humanistic religion of atheism will be banned by it's own stupidity.

agree, as long as I know every religion teaches the followers to do the right things. the difference things among the religion are the way the follower pray and their truth about God.

if you read all the religions of the world in exact way then you will find every religion teach us the way of a successful life and all of the religions teach us about love,  peace and forgiveness. Those who say that religion bring sadness do not know about religion.

Well as much as we all know that religion at times brings hate and division among different culture and beliefs, there are also times when religion does the opposite of that. There are many aspects of religion that promotes peace and respect among people and that aspect, for me should also be considered.

Religion is high time to ban all over the planet. One of the evils of this phenomenon. And money laundering

I definitely think its time to try it out in at least one westernized country and see how it goes

i do not think that any one can ban religion, i think it most of the people are involve with different religions and no one will like that some may ban their religion, it will never accept that fact.

I agree with you that having a religion is having different teachings, beliefs, and ideology.  And when asked which is the best religion those who are believer of saints and prophets would state their beliefs and teachings making a very long argument resulting to misunderstanding and worst war.  Thus, making this world so complicated.

People in church usually sit very close together. They need deodorant. All that banning religion is, is getting the people to use Ban Deodorant, so they don't offend each other in church.

 

I don't see communism as a religion... but disagree that religion should be banned for various reasons. Like, let's take orthodox christianity since thats a main religion in Serbia. It may have caused a hate towards gay population because of the church but also brings a lot of people and families together with slavas. Also it helped a lot of people to find their way.. Even tho I'm not a religious person I live by the word of Christ.

If people want to enforce bans on religion, the only way they will be able to accomplish it is if they do it religiously.

Religion can't be banned, it can only be moderated. Even in South Korea where there is a ban on religion, they still have underground religious groups...
