I think they have lost their motivation first or their mental is broken before the kick off because of the new penalization from FIGC (-10 points). Now they have to be more realistic, with 2 matches left and they are -5points from AC Milan which is currently in the 4th position, their chance to be in CL next season is close to zero. They may try hard to take the spot for Europa League but they also need to rely on the other team's result especially Roma and Atalanta.
FIGC just make jokes three times as personally I believe that the penalization should be applied in a next season, before a start of season rather than any time in mid of a season. It affects not only the penalized club but also other clubs too as they can not have any solid plan with such chaotic penalization, applied, canceled, reapplied. It is simply a stupid joke from FIGC. If it was applied a few weeks sooner, clubs like AC Milan, AS Roma, Atalanta will have very different plans for their matches. Now, it is too late when Serie A only has 2 match days.
I am not sure what the exact timing was of the news that they will lose 10 points, but I believe the timing was horrible as it was very close to the game. I mean it could also have meant additional motivation for them because even without those 10 points if they had won the game against Empoli, they would have had 62 points and it would have only been 2 points less than AC Milan. There may be different opinions now about the timing of the news to be published, but I assume that Juventus knew it long before the news spread online.
Juventus could have fixed the issue even in the next game because they play against Milan, but now they are in bad condition and have to get over with it.
From hopeless to join top four, they jumped to it and even got a second position but now they fell down beyond top 6 and are facing a future without Champions League, Europa League. It's hardly to accept for Juventus with all efforts their players spent in this season and they just lost in Europa League in the last week. Serie A is where Juventus can fight to get a slot to Europe next season but they are in disadvantageous position now.
