I disagree.... ban Vircurex!

How exactly do you ban someone (anyone) from using a decentralized currency?  I mean does that even make sense in your mind?  Please state specifically what would be done to prevent someone from accepting the currency.

I agree with Friction that is Vircurex the one keeping ixcoin value down.
You can see by yourself:

https://coinmarketcap.com/volume.html#ixc

I don't know if it's keeping the price down, per sé.  The problem with Vircurex is that the volume has dried up to nearly ZERO since they froze people's assets.

That low volume means the little iXcoin they do have for sale gets stale and is slow to move.  This can be on the up-side or the downside, as well.

So I don't think much would happen if we forced Vircurex to ban iXcoin.

What would be accomplished, however, is the iXcoin Foundation building a hostile, negative reputation in the industry, towards exchanges.  Unless there's outright scams occurring on an exchange, I would be reluctant to demand they stop trading iXcoin.

And let's keep in mind, Vircurex saved iXcoin last year.  Nobody wanted to trade iXcoin and Vircurex was about to drop it as well, but they eventually listened to a few of their customers and kept iXcoin on their exchange.

This was a really big deal for iXcoin at the time; now we wanna repay this same exchange by telling them we don't want to be associated with them even though they have not wronged iXcoin and been a pretty solid and respectable exchange longer than any other exchange out there.

Their recent problem stems from last year [which depositors knew about] and the fact they didn't walk off with everyone's money but instead is slowly trying to repay everyone says a lot in an industry where many exchanges have folded and walked off with everyone's money at the first sign of trouble.

I say we give Vircurex a chance.  The low volume problem will fix itself as they become more liquid or they won't be able to recover from their losses and they'll go out of business on their own.

Everyone in this industry knows the risks associated with putting your money in Vircurex so I don't think iXcoin will look bad if people lose their money in Vircurex, any more than they would losing it in any other second rate exchange.

Edit:  And if Vircurex is in China we really need that exposure to the Chinese Market.

I disagree.... ban Vircurex!

So, you wanna kick out a chinese exchange and bring in a new one.  Smiley

(Vircurex is chinese: bottom of the page, click on "Investors", then "Q4 Report - Mar 2014", last page ->  Beijing)

WHAT???

Man, I used to trade on Vircurex and I always thought they were in Poland.  That's very interesting.  Cause no Chinese exchange makes it that long in China without some political influence.

I would be even more worried now to leave any coins on Vircurex.

How do we get it banned?

The IXC foundation should declare Vircurex and their owners... persona non-grata!

Seems like we are nearly on every exchange, but only Cryptsy and Vircurex  are really used for trading.

Ixcoin trades on:

-Cryptsy (ixc/BTC)
-Vircurex (ixc/BTC)
-Poloniex (ixc/BTC)
-C-cex (ixc/BTC ; ixc/ltc ; ixc/bat ; ixc/doge ; ixc/hmo ; ixc/usd ; ixc/flap)
-Comkort (ixc/BTC ; ixc/ltc ; ixc/doge)

only action is on cryptsy an vircurex. On 13.5 another 50k trade occured on vircurex. this is a funny exchange. mostly nothing happens and than boom Grin Shocked

i have a poloniex and c-cex accounts because i trade GRC sometimes, they are ok, not the best but really ok exchanges(at least for me until now). i will send some coins there so people can buy them Grin

happy trading

As always, the problem is the limited liquidity of this coin.

Another one... allcrypt  https://www.allcrypt.com/market?id=531

These folks are in Baltimore, MD and FinCen registered.

It would be great if we got on a chinese exchange... bter, btc38.   We really need alternative volume for this coin.   Right now, the only trading really is at Cryptsy.

I just talked to Jeffery from CEX.io and when he's got a chance I expect him to post something here, as confirmation.  He's a very busy guy and so we have to be patient.

Can you get an ETA from him as to when he can start using the latest IXCoin code?

I can ask.

CEX.io has their own internal plans and timeline and there's only so much they can reveal, for competitive reasons.  I will do my best to get as much information as I can, but that could take some time since we have to wait until CEX.io is prepared to execute on their business strategies.

That said, it should not take very long, terminal mining is in a few short months so I expect a lot to happen well before that.

I will keep everyone posted as I get more information.

Regards,

[the Cryptian from Cryptlantis] ; )

Well, it turns out that the OP_RETURN with metadata is not enabled on our 0.8.6 client and will work only on a 0.9.0 client.    I will check if the multi-sig version is available for 0.8.6 and see if we can go with that.

Anyway,  CEX.IO involvement is critical to get the features we want into IXC.   Without them, we are essentially unnable to make an upgrade.

iXcoin is an open source digital currency, based on the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, which is distributed over a peer-to-peer network to offer irreversible,low-cost, anonymous and decentralized monetary transactions. iXcoin is the first Bitcoin clone or Alternative chain, created in May 2011 just a few weeks after the distributed DNS Namecoin. Today, there exists many Bitcoin clones. - See more at: https://altexplorer.net/chain/IXCoin#sthash.pMUrstTH.dpuf

Thats for you Vlad

I'm not sure I get your point.

Can you tell me what's anonymous about Bitcoin?

Besides the fairy tales and the "expert" lies, I mean.

My feeling regarding Cryptsy is that they're trying to maximize profits. Why let other exchanges monopolize profits off massive trades in CrapCoins when you can add those coins as well and let people decide.  Cry

About Mintpal. This community could get the coin on it.
On Mintpal the coins there could be divided in three categories:
- coins under pumping;
- coins under dumping;
- coins none of the above categories.

A coin like iXcoin could be easily pumped on Mintpal. In the short run, fine, easy profit. In the long run I am afraid many of the coins on Mintpal will be labeled as scamcoins, used to get easy bitcoins in exchange of scam.
So, if iXcoin gets there, I wonder if it is going to improve its credibility. Probably yes, it's free advertise, but only if people are going to see a solid project and development of financial tools.

About Friction.
Friction, what can you tell us about you? What is your goal with iXcoin?
I think you hold a good number of iXcoins. It seems you are always looking for money. I mean, it's right you make a living. The question is: do you really believe in this project, or you are just here for the money?
Normally open source projects are made by a team, working together. It seems you do not look for such cooperation. I even wonder if you will accept that seat on the board now knowing you will not get a monthly income. I have seen people here working hard and then asking for small donations. You received 15k ixc donation, and the donors do not even know what exactly you are going to make, when, and for what kind of useful purpose. Sometimes you seem to me a little bit short-sighted. Maybe you are just here waiting ixcoin will hit 1$, dump them all, and say bye bye.

Make me happy: prove me wrong.

As stated from the very begining, I am trying to raise 25K IXC to port CounterParty over to IXC.   On further discussion,  the port will not include a special meta-coin as found in the original CounterParty release.

The purpose is that this is an incremental step towards the original goal of support native user defined currencies.

I will be plain and simple honest,  I am here for the money.   What other reason should there be?

Do I believe in IXC?  I only like IXC because of the security that it already has.  I don't think there is any underlying mysterious and profound meaning behing IXC.  It is just a coin like every other alt-coin, however it has ridiculous amount of hashing power backing it.

I don't have a lot of IXC.  All the IXC coins I have are mostly from donations.   In short,  the more donations, the more I am committed to make IXC survive.

However,  be reminded that I'm responsible for the following:

(1) Upgrading the 3 year old IXC client to 0.8.6 of Bitcoin.   The original bounties have been paid in full.
(2) Creating the www.ixcoin.co website.  The original website disappeared for a while.
(3) Comissioning the new IXC logo.

In short,  I get stuff done.

I think most people should be thrilled that IXC is trading where it is trading:  #27  Ixcoin  $ 1,205,176

Spoken like a true CEO !

We all have other things in life, I know I am busy as hell but sometinmes instead of worrying about what you are going to 'get' or can 'take' you end up with so much more in the end by 'giving' ,

so if giving means just helping out with some coding or promotion or input when we have something of value......

we may find in the end that if we give a little we may end up receiving more than we ever thought possible.......

What does being on the board even entail at this point?

Until we get more organized and get some kind of budget, the board [at this point] is very much like any open source project:  Pitch in whatever you can of your time, money or skills, and provide insight and advice regarding the strategy and direction of iXcoin.

Once we have the means and money to execute on a specific strategy then the board would be more active in official meetings, decision making and things of that nature.

Amin, brother, err, sister.

Thanks for your input.  ; )
