hmm, I can access just-dice.com via my cellphone. (the same ISP as my land line)

have you banned any Swedish networks?

I have even tried different servers from my VPN in Holland and Sweden.

In Slovenia, gambling sites without government approval (such as bwin, bet-at-home) are banned at the DNS level. I've noticed that from this week, satoshidice and just-dice are banned too (DNS doesn't resolve). Changing my DNS servers to Google's 8.8.8.8 bypasses this.

as I edited in my post just after you answered, it seems to be my computer that´s the problem. (could access from a different computer). The connection to just-dice died last night and I have tried both Firefox and IE (and now also chrome) but both all three says 'can´t access server' or 'webpage not available'. any ideas what might be wrong? thanks Smiley

edit: all the other websites I visit works just fine.

anyone else having problems connecting to just-dice.com?

It was another DDoS attack.

I've started using CloudFlare now.

Hopefully that will stop the attacks from working, but only time will tell.

Our highest capital is the Confidence we build.
Maybe some optional Hall of Fames could be a nice incentive to gamblers. It would be nice if they can opt in or out of them on the account configuration. Something like a Top Ten of Amounts Wagered, Won and Lost could do the trick.

Doog, have you considered comps for whales, similar to brick and mortar casinos?  A small % of the expected profit from the player's action could be a good incentive to attract and sustain action.  Maybe not as effective as booze, hookers, and blow, but it's still good crypto appreciation  Smiley
With only a 1% edge, there is no wiggle room left for comps.  Better to have the lowest edge and fairest system then bells & whistles.

Maybe you are correct.  This is a low edge game, and larger players disproportionately dominate the action, so it would affect the profit more than it would for a traditional casino.

I think that comps are more psychological in nature, designed to make the player feel special and appreciated.  Perhaps something small, like a special symbol next to the name in the bet window and chat window, would work just as well.  Provides differentiation, and doesn't cost more than a field in the user table and a few lines of code.  This also cuts down on impostering in the chat window (like recent Dr. Lee imposter advertising to give away BTC).
Well, something like that I would not object to.  For example, anyone can change to any name except Dooglus.  Maybe those who wager over a certain amount (or invest?) can have their handle reserved for only them and maybe appear in a different color or font.

This bull will try to shake you off. Hold tight!
I don't know anything about running a casino but looking at the numbers turnover seems to be stalling and from SD I learned that me protesting changes didn't help. So I would say, try it all Doog. Likely things will stick that were not expected.

Investors balances needs to be updated.  Why not just make a text file on the server that auto updates like wagered.txt and link to it on the forums.  One less task to do weekly  Grin

That's a good idea.

I've updated the OP, but will do what you suggest in future.

Note that from this week I'm not listing the 'base' amount for accounts with 0 invested, so the list is quite a bit shorter than previous weeks.

Just-Dice has been on a on-and-off DDOS attack for the last couple weeks.  Doog has installed a few load balancers, please make note of these alternate addresses if you having trouble logging in:

https://just-dice.com
https://www1.just-dice.com
https://www2.just-dice.com
https://www3.just-dice.com

A longer term solution is in the works.

The site was down for a couple of hours due to a glitch at the hosting company.

It's back now.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

It would almost halve their return which would probably make the expected return from a Just-Dice investment lower than that from a CD or various other BTC investments currently available.

Now that you bring that up. You can calculate what the long-term bankroll will be at in the future. If the bankroll is too large, then individual people's investment will be such a small % of the bankroll that they will make less than with other BTC investments (ActiveMining).

So if you take the ActiveMining APR and the JD APR and set them equal you can calculate what the maximum "efficient" Bankroll will be.

HODL OR DIE
...

Not that that would necessarily be a bad thing.  We have plenty of investment.  It's been a long time since we had anywhere near a max bet placed.

I often bet the max return on low odds, like 0.057 BTC @ 0.01% (maybe half a dozen times so far just today) so you would have less &/or lower bets like that if the max profit was lower, but I guess you are more referring to the 531 BTC bets @ 50% etc, I'm sure these will be back when Bitcoin becomes more widespread & new whales adopt to it - hopefully not causing too many nightmares, just to be able to bet over $60,000 on basically a coin flip is a big potential draw for the site making it one of the most extreme casinos ever in existence & certainly the only one at that level with just 1% house edge (not sure what SD offers atm, but with an unknown owner I wouldn't trust it anyways for that large a betting).

This really highlights the power of bitcoin because a single guy (or two and a gal??) was able to raise a $7 million dollar bankroll almost immediately and offer high limits with low rake for the nominal cost of creating a website.

That's a good point.  I don't notice those bets you make.  When you win one, then I'll notice it.  Smiley

It is good that we're able to offer 'lottery' style bets, where you can bet a dollar's worth of coin to win over $60,000.

Without the currently high level of investment that obviously wouldn't be possible.
