Regarding the SEC / Shavers question, the gentleman who works at the SEC and did the legwork for the Shavers investigation actually showed up at Satoshi Square in NYC this week. He was down to earth and seems like a good guy. From talking to him I got the impression that he was the only one at the SEC who has a clue about bitcoin. I don't know if he personally made that diagram or not..
Is his name Phillip? I talked to him for an unrelated matter but he asked me if I lost any money in someone's service after I mentioned Bitcoin.

I want to send regular deposits to a certain Just-Dice account. Are the deposit address permanently reusable? Can I send over and over again over several months to the same deposit address?

Thanks.

I'd like to be able to take the occasional day to attend to non-site things without it causing a panic.  Maybe in time I'll be able to...  I'd hope not to have to announce it here that I'm going to be offline for a few hours.  I guess it's a testament to how available we have made ourselves to the site's players and investors that they notice when we take a day away!

You guys do really top-notch customer service.

Investors ----> J-D Bankroll ----> Dooglus Coinbase Account -----> Dooglus Bank Account -----> Dooglus in Bora-Bora drinking Mai Tais with Deb in a grass hoola skirt

So much easier to follow than that monstrosity pirateat40 put together.

I notice you leave it ambiguous as to which of us is wearing the grass skirt.

I saw a bit of talk in the on-site chat today about how Deb and I hadn't been online, and invested had just hit 40k so that must be our "trigger point" and we're doing a runner.  In fact our dog was sick and we took her into the vet in town.  I checked in to the site several times, refilled the hot wallet twice, spoke in the chat, etc.

Does anyone know how much pirate is estimated to have stolen, and the dollar value?  I thought it was more than 100k BTC, but I may be wrong.

If I remember correctly, somewhere around 500,000 btc. This was when it was trading around $10, so $5,000,000 total. In the SEC statement regarding Pirate, I believe they said he only profited around $170,000. Either he threw most of it away trying to trade on exchanges, or there is still a large majority of it out there hidden by Trendon Shavers.

I used to track the weekly interest payments on the blockchain.  According to my records, the biggest payout was on 2012-07-31 and totaled 29185.16076506 BTC.  If that was 7% of the total invested then the total was 416930 BTC.  Though I expect a lot of people were auto-reinvesting their profits.

My notes for that week (txid and comments):

That SEC diagram is a mess and Dooglus is a man who appreciates simplicity.  When he does eventually take off with the entire J-D bankroll I expect the diagram to similarly be an elegantly simple to follow roadmap.

First, you will see a bunch of boxes labeled "investors" ranging from 0.1 BTC to 1000s of BTC and it will look like Investors ----> J-D Bankroll (500,001 BTC)

Then, the rest will be an elegant, easy to read railroad track as so:
Investors ----> J-D Bankroll ----> Dooglus Coinbase Account -----> Dooglus Bank Account -----> Dooglus in Bora-Bora drinking Mai Tais with Deb in a grass hoola skirt

So much easier to follow than that monstrosity pirateat40 put together.

Well to be exact, he said that he planned to sell BTC for USD to pay for his stay, kind of boarder line activity as in illegal working or trading they may have seen it as.

Plus as it was James McCarthy (if I remember his name correctly) of GLBSE fame, then I expect just interacting with his BS delusional scamista mindset should have been enough for any immigration control to tell him to GTFO.

evolution, Bitcoin is now a little more taken seriously than in the days of the mybitcoin wallet scam

If I have any more evidence of SEC acknowledging that Bitcoin exists, then I can travel to the US and when they ask me if I have at least $200/day to support my stay, I can have that in Bitcoins and they have to accept it.

last time that someone tried that they were refused entry, best to get a per-approval I expect

Evolution, Bitcoin is now a little more taken seriously than in the days of the mybitcoin wallet scam & FinCEN haven't been shy about discussing virtual currencies, including Bitcoin.

If a government agency did make that this is big news. For the longest time all government organizations have been "playing dumb" about Bitcoin trying not to get it mentioned at all. Then there are some comments about how they want to "tax" Bitcoin even through anyone who knows what a blockchain is knows that's ridiculous.

Then comes this. Next-level transaction analysis done better than any member of this forum has ever done. (Why wasn't a graph like that made for mybitcoin.com?)

Official SEC document here: http://www.sec.gov/News/PressRelease/Detail/PressRelease/1370539730583#.UgGEMD-92Sw

I am looking for the official SEC site where that transaction graph is hosted so I can point them out on it.

Freedom of information etc & anyway they'd probably be quite proud of their analysis & flow diagrams I expect & happy to respond, maybe tweak the user name for that.

Obviously Mt. Gox & Dwolla plus his bank, credit cards etc, maybe himself too, gave up all details of tx history.

Why not just ask them if it was in house or outsourced, I can't see that it matters much anyway.

Why not just ask the SEC?

yes

SEC - just follow the linked thread.

Source is: http://ia800904.us.archive.org/35/items/gov.uscourts.txed.146063/gov.uscourts.txed.146063.4.6.pdf

So a US Court (doesn't say which one) did this advanced next-level blockchain analysis?

SEC investigated & I assume researched to produced the evidence/documentation which they then presented to some US court in order to charge pirate with having run a Ponzie, courts don't do investigations.

SEC, the US government organization? There is no was a government organization did that blockchain analysis. That means they have a team of Bitcoin experts employed.

But you were a supporter of SDice, where the wait time was 10 mins per bet!
But you first placed the bet, then you had to wait 10 minutes.
The key is allowing you to spend your money ASAP, though of course if the result is also fast is a big plus.
Obviously if the original transaction doesn't get enough confirmations, you shouldn't be able to cash out any winnings.
